  1. I'd consider the Whites V3i to be a competitor to the CTX. Honestly, for my hunting I'd take another V3i over a CTX based on what I know about it.
  2. Test the Equinox on some signals the Deus gets before digging them.
  3. Not everyone of that generation does.. I'm 19, don't use social media apart from forums, and don't own a smartphone. I spend my electronics money on metal detectors.
  4. PI's lack much in the way of iron disc, and the TDI has none at all, so that would be one of the worst possible locations to use one.
  5. F2 at 0 is less filtering than FE at 0 I believe, hence it's the only setting I've used. I'm always in the horseshoe mode, I like hearing iron. Most of the time I dig everything nonferrous since I primarily relic hunt. Edit: Found the source for the iron bias statement https://www.dankowskidetectors.com/discussions/read.php?2,166825,page=6
  6. I just wonder when Garrett will make something truly new. An AT Multi would be nice.
  7. I'm not positive actually. I'll need to test that now.. The tone also is usually a bit more broken than conductive targets for me, I haven't been able to isolate a clean repeating tone on them.
  8. I've only used F2 0, since I've read that that is the lowest possible setting. I don't like the idea of the detector doing something extra trying to exclude signals. I'd rather dig some large iron than potentially lose some deep or masked targets.
  9. I realized this recently, and it's super annoying. I have noticed that they tend to give a double tone, whereas good targets usually give a single tone.
  10. I'd go with an Anfibio over the Kruzer. It adds a few things I wish I had.
  11. I've never really been good with it. The audio seems harsh to me. It does seem deeper and faster than my AT Pro though, based on some signal comparing I've done. I haven't used it since I got an Equinox.
  12. Nope. I've never used it much, it seems to not be as deep as the disc modes for some reason.
  13. GEN is a threshold based all metal/true all metal mode.
  14. High tone at 43!? That's way too low of a tone break, for the USA at least. Nokta might want to change that.. I like to set the mid/high tone break on 3 tone detectors right on the zinc penny number to give them a broken signal (Actually I'm just used to that because it's where the AT Pro has it). So that would be sixty something on the simplex right?
  15. In my mind, 50 tones just adds more tones to listen to; unless the processing is different I don't see how it could be more nuanced in the way that I listen to it. Right now I have mine in 5 tones, but zones 2&3 have the same tone, as do 4&5, which means I'm basically in 3 tones. 3 tones is what I'm used to and prefer. Since I dig everything nonferrous most of the time anyway I don't really need more.
  16. I found the V3i to be ergonomically pretty decent, no worse than my AT Pro even though it's heavier. It's certainly a lot heavier than the Equinox though. I don't get my information from the tones themselves. 50 tones seems to me just a way to audibly hear the numbers. I tend to focus on the way the tone shapes itself, is it stretched, short, loud, soft, etc. I don't know to what extent the Equinox is going to allow me to do this though. So far it seems better audibly than the V3i, but not nearly as nuanced as an AT Pro.
  17. Why does that make it different from the processing on the Equinox? Won't it just be a version of the Equinox with reduced features?
  18. I'm actually rather glad about the small range. It means it won't take so long to learn them.
  19. I have mild curiosity, same as whenever a new detector is released. Entry level detectors have really improved since I first started with an Ace 250 in 2011.
  20. Apart from waterproofing, and a dedicated beach mode, I think the simplex has fewer bells and whistles than an f75. The Simplex has all metal, 2 tone, 3 tone, and beach modes. The f75 has more tone options, as well a the various processes (Bp, Cl, Pf, etc).
  21. Does the vanquish have any sort or ground balancing feature? Even if it is multi frequency, without ground balance, how is it going to compare to the simplex for example?
  22. The f44 looks pretty decent for the price. I like that it has assignable tones.
  23. Fixed it for you. What was the last actual new model from First Texas anyway? F11-44? I know those were probably the same technology, but they look different from the rest of their lineup.
