  1. Nemo has had some battery problems in the past. I just moved up to the nomad, The check button on the battery lites up with 4 red lites when fully charged, This battery is much bigger than the nemo batts.
  2. Manticore accessory coils are RELEASED. In production. Production volume of these coils....is also increasing . , . , . , . , . for those who are interested...............Tom Dankowski
  3. I do not notice any discomfort with the slight change of angle.
  4. I found this unit on ebay. Cost about $50, Made in Germany , heavy plastic, well made with metal threaded inserts. Punch in Manticore folding adapter and it should come up. I installed it, and its awesome. Cuts down on storage space in my detector bag.
  5. Back in 1975,I was 16, I drove a half toasted mustang I bought from my brother for $15. I also bought my first detector, an AH mini pro detector with 6" coil. for $175. ( It disc'ed out foil and nailed coins about 2" deep max.)I detected alot at a beachfront park , a mile and a half from home. Today i put the manticore in the truck and went back to the same park I had not set foot in for 30 years. I parked and behold, an old ornary looking caretaker sitting in his truck, half asleep. I figured he would kick me out , so I detected down at the beach instead, picked up a few zincs, and had a nice view of lake Michigan. After about an hour, I climbed back up the hill and he had left for the day, so I started detecting the south side of the 6 acre park. The concessions stand, ball diamond and rest room were gone. Thats the side of the park I had the most success years ago. I found enough old coins with the mini to keep my interests up. An indian cent, wheaties, a few merc dimes, etc. In 76 I bought a Garrett Money Hunter TR , and found coins down to 5 inches. A Franklin half, a SLQuarters, one I sold for $100, more mercs , barber dimes, wheats, Indians, etc. As I walked in with the manticore, these memories came back like yesterday. Funny how things change. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this am ! I decided to start near the existing ball diamond, when using the sovereign XS 30 years ago I nailed a barber dime and wheats. Lots of pulltabs I left in the ground, and a zincoln cent after 45 minutes. I relocated near where the food stand used to be, and was swinging for about 10 min, and got a solid hi 60's low 70's signal. The target trace looked good, and the depth showed 4-5 chevrons. Finally dug up a green 41 wheatie 7-8 ' deep. Hotdog! 2 feet away, I got a signal that caught my ear, and it was showing 26-27 in every direction. Maybe a nickel? would sure love a buff! 6-7 " deep up comes a green nickel. Scraped off the green and sure enough a brown 38 buff! Yes! been awhile since I found one of those! 6 feet away I hit the sweetest sounding 77-86 signal! It has to be a dime! . 6" -7" deep out pops a silver dime! I grab my reading glasses and I did a little dance! An o3 barber! I never get sick of seeing clean silver come out of the hole! I circled around that area a few times , but that was it. I started swinging towards the truck on the other side of the park, I came up with a zincoln and clad quarter. It just felt so awesome to know that the park still holds a fair amount of old coins, and it sure was nice to relive the excitement I felt as a teenager, having a ball back then, enjoying a clean hobby! And I remember the areas where those finds were made, and look forward to seeing what I and others have missed over the years. The Manticore is bringing the fun back into my detecting life. I love the machine. Settings were ATG. speed 3 & 4, multi, sensitivity 21 -24 . HH
  6. Just a few seconds with cleaning clad using a power driven wire wheel, restores the quarter on the left to look close to new. Using a pliers and safety glasses is a must!
  7. I have 2 grades of wire wheels on my grinder. Coarse and fine. I hold each coin with a pliers, and it takes about 3 seconds per coin to clean. All coins come out shiny when Im done. The rotted zincs I throw away. The coins have no collectors value when cleaned this way, but you can run them thru the bank or spend them.
  8. I have tried the manticore out at my grandparents homestead the first time out, Picked up a SLQ , and a few 8" deep wheat pennies. My next stop was a freshwater sand beach, right after the sand groomer machine went thru, picked up a few bucks in clad. Last weekend, I was on vacation in Wisc, the north woods. I had an open morning , found a small one acre park in a county camping park. I figured I'd give the Manty my first park tryout. AT general, Audio on 1 region all tones, sensitivity range of 18-22, speed range 3-6, mostly all metal. Ground balanced, noise cancelled etc, used the stock phones. When I started swinging I thought I was operating a machine gun! 6-7 targets per swing. After a few minutes I was able to pick out the high tones , and started digging coins. I was finding the most coins in the heaviest carpet of aluminum areas. Coins as deep as 8", some coins with al. trash next to them. I dug very little trash, between the audio, and target screen. A fair amount of coins were 2 way hits. Turn 90 degrees and the good signals would disappear. I detected for 4 hours straight, though I took a 5 min break and jumped in the lake! Finished the hunt with 77 coins, and only 19 pcs of trash. Half of the trash was right next to the coins. There were 3 small coin spills . No silver, but 2 wheaties, 17 quarters, 23 dimes, 3 nickels, 34 pennies. I need to study up on notching out some of the trash zones, or at least modifying the audio, so I can find more nickels. I',m very impressed with the Manty! Love it! A fair amount of dimes were on edge. Amazing separation, using the audio. Well balanced , lightweight, my 64 yr old arm had no complaints!.
  9. Some of these video guys get more wrapped up in view and follower numbers, rather than learning the machines.
  10. If it was silver, it would read higher on your ID meter!
  11. Mike your vids showing the target trace has really been a help to me learning coins with iron on my new core. I dug some oldies mixed with iron that I would not have dug had I not watched your vids!. Really shortened the learning curve!.
  12. Nice vid and finds. Appreciate it and posting your settings.!
  13. It might come down to which unit performs better. Will they be close , or will one be drastically better?
  14. What type of soil do you have? Thanks in advance. I do own a Simplex and Anfibio.
  15. At the rate Minelab is cranking out all kinds of different models, they probably have a new gold machine right around the corner.
  16. My Vista X is a Tesoro on steriods. I like running it on beaches where the trash is not heavy. It would make a good relic machine, but I do not do relics. It is deep!. Heavy trash & parks you want a visual ID machine. I just got the manticore and will be interested to comparing the two when spring finally hits.
  17. The AH mini pro was my first detector. Had some disc for foil I believe, 6" coil.
  18. Chase, How does the deus 2 w/ 9" coil compare to the 900 Nox for seperation? Sounds like a dumb question, but the Deus 9" coil seems like its unbeatable in seperation? ( PS, I never owned a Deus!)
  19. These forums here are so rich in information. Thanks to Steve and all the contributors!.
  20. no idea. I no longer live in the area, might have had something to do with it.
