  1. After having seen others paint the keys on their Legend I decided to try something totally different. I used Glow Paint. It was tedious, and I can probably get another coat on it but this is how it looks both day and in darkness. I like it. Again, it was tedious due to how the paint is. I used a bamboo skewer to apply the paint inside the button indents. Wiped excess off. Found out it was easier to just coat the button and immediately wipe off excess. This is what it looks like after 12 hrs cure time. The paint used is Glow-on. I had some Neon Green on hand from another project but I'd prefer it to be blue. The stuff isn't cheap but a little goes a long way. https://www.amazon.com/Super-Phosphorescent-Sights-Concentrated-lasting/dp/B00GUA92RQ?ref_=ast_sto_dp Again, this stuff works best in multiple coats. What you are seeing is just a thin single coating. Will probably apply at least one more layer. But giving this 24 hrs between applications works best. Thought you might find it interesting. EDIT: Oh, I also installed a Skinomi screen protector to the display. In the picture it has a blemish but I have since wiped that off. I cut the piece to fit. It's a Matte version of their clear model. Really cuts down on glare in the sunlight.
  2. It's a shame that a new coil is having a problem, period. I used the LG30 yesterday and was noticing it also ran more quiet at higher sensitivity than the LG24. The legend definitely speaks a different language than the EQ800 or the XP ORX I have. I noticed some audible pops on certain targets in the yard. Granted, there is some iron but everything I dug yesterday were junky things. I do have a test bed in the back yard and it hit every single legitimate target. I really need to make another newer one. The battery went down to 2 bars. So about 5.5 hrs since charging. Not unusual though for a new battery to need a few discharge/charge cycles to reach full capacity. I'm liking the Legend, and look forward to seeing what it can do with a good LG24 when Nokta finally contacts me. I contacted who I bought the detector from. He was willing to do a coil swap, but there is no stock and no ETA from his source on when they will have more. Just taking a guess here- based on my experience over the years with electronics and such. I believe there is possibly a bad batch out there and I was just unlucky enough to get one. Things happen in production and on equipment in a production line. Often times something like this can happen and before they realize it, there are some weird/faulty units out in the wild. I get it.. But that doesn't mean I enjoy enduring such an event. LOL
  3. Yes, there was nothing under there. I installed the LG30 coil and it is not having any problems like the LG24 is. I'm convinced the LG24 is bad. Now how long it will take for Nokta to respond and offer a solution remains to be seen. As stated above in response to another reply, I installed the new LG30 and it did not act erratically like the LG24. Based on the responses here from experienced users of the Legend and from what I've seen with this one, it's bad in my book and should be replaced. Only 4 hrs on the coil. The LG30 has about an hour on it now since my testing with it today. The LG30 was much more stable in all aspects vs. the LG24. That is kind of backwards but how it played out. There is no way the LG24 I have is "normal" or even "ok" after seeing how much more stable the larger LG30 was. I am concerned how Nokta will address this one. Ready to give them a chance, and I would hope they do the right thing.
  4. Going to try the LG30 tomorrow. I've only had limited experience with it tonight in the house. And it did not seem to be anywhere close to the LG24 with the falsing. I could touch the LG30 coil all the way around and it did not false. Even tried gentle pressing on coil cover like I did the LG24, and the LG30 only chirped a single time. Sensitivity 10. This Legend came with the 1.11 firmware already installed. I'm wondering if a Factory reset would do anything about this situation.
  5. I was running Park in M1. Also tried M3. Sensitivity was never ran higher than 16. Took down to as low as 10 and still noticed the falsing. I didn't do any coil scrubbing or come into contact with the ground on my sweeps. The only time that coil touched the ground was when the detector was being put down to dig a target. I did run across some weeds and of course got the blip-beep sound off. Sounded chatter for a second but this was out in someone's yard today, in the country. I had already done an auto noise cancel and ground balance. Tried putting the GB at Zero also but it didn't seem to act any differently. The ground I was hunting this evening seemed slightly sandy in spots. I also used it here at my house earlier. It was acting very similar with the touchy coil at home too. Not to say it didn't find things. I dug up a little 22LR bullet this evening. It wasn't very deep though. But shows the Legend is sensitive to small things. Sort of like my Equinox is.
  6. Greetings everyone. I received my new Nokta Legend yesterday. I also purchased the LG24 coil with it. So immediately that coil was the one I installed and used. I'm having some odd falsing. Any time the coil comes into contact with something (small brush/ tall weeds) or when I sit it down to dig a target it flases/chirps. Turned the sensitivity all the way down to 10 and this still happens with abrupt movement or any type of bump to the coil. I have re-wrapped the coil cable on the shaft and checked connection twice now with no change. On a whim I decided to put the coil facing straight into the air and gently pressed around the coil. When I reached the Nokta sticker it did the falsing. So then I gently tapped the bottom of the coil cover with my finger and false again. No ring, watch, or anything else on at the time. Is this something that is "normal" with these Legend coils? It sure doesn't seem normal to me. I contacted who I purchased it form and he referred me to the Nokta USA support form. I filled it out. Has anyone else seen this problem? I'd hate to think I just bought this thing and it has a problem. Only 4 hrs use. Dry land, no water, and I'm not a coil scrubber. Not seen this with my other detectors, but did remember some of this in the past with a Teknetics T2 LTD with a Cors Shrew coil, just not this severe.
  7. This is good info. Thanks to all who posted about this. I just received my Legend today. Not took it out yet for a hunt. I'm really impressed with the build quality. It looks and feels well designed. To be totally honest, I didn't expect it to be this nice. It's not a "cheap" detector but it is less $$$ than a new Equinox. And it is an awful lot less than a Deus 2 or manticore. Looking forward to trying this one out in the next few days if the wind and rain don't ruin it. This is my second Nokta/Makro detector. The first one was a Kruzer that turned out to be a defective dud. Can see that Nokta has changed a lot compared to that. Right now I'm totally fascinated with this Legend, there is nothing like the allure and mystery of a new detector. Happy Hunting
  8. I hope it works out. I'm working towards getting a Legend. It seems fascinating enough to mess around with a while. Just what I need to get me back into dirt fishing. My poor Equinox 800 will just have to be jealous. Besides, me and that EQ800 have an understanding- The Legend will just be my side squeeze.
  9. Hmm I've been away too long from the game. Work has consumed my life. It's time to head back out into the dirt, even if I have to crawl. It seems now is a good time to try a Legend and the Nel Snake coil. IF you can get your hands on one of the coils. Still have my XP ORX with X35 11" coil that has been sitting a long while(regularly charged). That may be what I try to sell to help fund a Legend and Nel Snake combo.
  10. Without Dilek I don't think the magic would be there for Nokta. When you have someone out front and visible to the public like her it does make a difference. Some people just have the drive, talent, and right way of doing things. Dilek is a treasure to that company. She IS the voice and face of Nokta. I sure hope they treat her right.
  11. The arrogance is strong within them. Always has been. Price increase = enhanced greed on their part. Gasoline price went up over 10 cents in 24hrs around here. Getting downright difficult for a man to afford anything other than working and sleeping.
  12. If they are around after this year at all it will be a surprise. Nobody even knows who they are as a company anymore when it comes to metal detectors. Maybe all those other ventures they've been doing while neglecting metal detectors has dried up too. Yep, they are not going to be around much longer. On borrowed time due to their own arrogance.
  13. If they are looking for a bunch of speeches and hot air along with mumbo jumbo talks this might just work. If on the other hand, they were serious about giving a D about metal detecting equipment it would not be at this point right now. You can hire 40 engineers and still have idiot management that will muck it up. At the current rate of downfall that wonderfully paid sack of garbage management will not much longer be milking the udders for every last drop because there won't be any money left. It's too late for them to all of a sudden "care". No, what they care about is there pockets staying full. You don't make things people will buy at a decent price point= you're not going to be making any sales or have anything come in.
  14. Minelab will surely come out with something more expensive that will supposedly do everything, even to the point of their new "meteorite call signal" which in marketing words "signal meteorites to fall in your general area within a 1000 km range".. The Minelab Meteor 9500. Because they would want to charge $9,500 for each one. The sad part? People would buy it. LOL
  15. It's always funny how you seem to find things you were looking for at just the right time. When it's meant to be found and not before then. I wish Nokta the best with their Legend shipping when it happens. What will be more fun is hearing about the first field tests.
  16. If you don't like the Deus II.. umm you can send it to me for a very subjective "extended evaluation period". Would give bi-weekly updates. Hey.. Just putting myself out there!!
  17. Well I can tell you that in my area there is at least 1 moron who leaves pits and never fills the holes they dig. For a long time I wondered who was doing it but found out for sure who it was. The guy lied about it, blaming it on some other random individual when it was he who was carrying a regular variety garden shovel and digging the holes that day! To see more idiots like that out and destroying grass giving us all a bad name is not something I would want. When you start talking about lower detector prices causing a flood of new people, I don't think they need to buy a Nokta to be an idiot. They have plenty of options available today already that are much cheaper. An idiot leaving craters around is an idiot, whether he/she is swinging a $50 detector or a $5,000 detector. The idea that expensive detectors can only be afforded by the "elite detector professionals" is also a bunch of garbage. Stupidity and crater diggers have no dollar value, they are found at every level!
  18. I have to admit, this looks like a good unit. It has my interest. Just looking at the construction it seems quite a bit more sturdy than EQ 600/800 in the coil ear area. Those ears looks very beefy. Add in the carbon fiber lower, another nice perk. The screen seems a bit busy and crowded with little icons. Not so much a negative but slightly distracting to some maybe. In my case, the bigger the ID numbers are the better I can see them with my eyes. The Id's on the Legend do not seem all that big. Nothing wrong with the 11" coil. No different than the standard coil on other detectors. The question is, how is the construction of the coils beyond the ears? Are they sealed well around the wiring and are the coil windings epoxied well? Little questions like that are in my mind. Audio. Hmm, I rarely use anything other than 5 tones on my Equinox. But this new Nokta has up to 60 tones. It would be interesting to hear what it sounds like. Seems to have all the adjustments like EQ does. It's really clear to me that Nokta really doesn't like Minelab. It's quite entertaining. Minelab has in all honesty up-priced their products for a long time. They have been arrogant in the past as well. I own one of their machines because it works. I also own one because if it had an issue during warranty it would be taken care of ( this unit has had no issues). I must say that this Legend has me very curious. Curious enough to buy one? Well, not right yet. I do enjoy playing with new gadgets, and especially new metal detectors. However, I've bought quite a few that were not all they were cracked up to be. If I could find one of these new Legends and perhaps even trade my ORX towards it to soften the price.. Yeah I'd do it. What does worry me is warranty claims with this new machine, and the availability of warranty service along with turnaround time if there is an issue. 2 yr warranty is a little weak though. So yeah.. for me at least the ORX I have would definitely be up for trading towards a Legend. The machine looks pretty good. Will be looking forward to hearing from the real world users once this hits the pipeline.
  19. I prefer to use the WM08 module. It allows me to use some Grey Ghost wired headphones which I really enjoy. The aptX wireless headphones (stock and aftermarket) just don't have the sound quality my wired phones do. I do notice some lag with aptX that I don't hear when using WM08. So count me as a WM08 module user.
  20. Here is what happened. That guy that was an ex-slave turned free man found it ALL! That dude found the treasure. Case closed!
  21. "Fake Island" is more like it. Drayton won't even dig his own holes he's so "elite". Ridiculous! No respect from me for the guy or the show.
  22. I think this is similar to finding a task for slack/lazy/incompetent workers. Give them something so easy that they really would have to try and fail at it. What a shame. I feel really bad for that Simplex, to be determined lame enough that only the detection of nails is its primary purpose. I did catch the humor in the post, but also seemed like there was a bit of contempt towards it too. It was like "Ok Simplex, it's your turn to shine. On nails, because you suck at everything else!"
  23. displaying those pull tabs with pride! Glad you found something better than silver. Seems like you are well on the way to finding greater things.
  24. Sure it is possible, IF they wanted to. But why do that when they can instead sell a higher priced detector? That is the business model. What they have now could be upgraded in software to do what the new one will do but they choose to come out with a totally "new" unit that will do it. Look at the XP Deus vs ORX for example. I'm convinced the only difference in the two is software. All about the $$$$
  25. Usually if the price is way lower than everywhere else for same coil = BIG RED FLAG. That old saying comes to mind, if it seems to good to be true it more than likely is a rip-off.
