2016 Rye Patch Nuggetshoot
Nevada Brian replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Gambler, From what I remember from last year, the campground below the dam fills up quick, not sure about the others, but you may get lucky. Also, the local mining clubs reserve the group campground which is where the potluck is held Saturday night, but I don't know how they determine who stays there or occupancy limits. Below is a paragraph from the link: http://parks.nv.gov/parks/rye-patch-state-recreation-area/ Camping: The river campground below the dam has 22 units, a restroom with flush toilets and hot showers. The campground on the reservoir's west side has 25 units, a restroom with flush toilets and hot showers. There are also undeveloped campsites along the reservoir that can be reached by boat or primitive roads. Camping is allowed in these areas unless otherwise posted. A camping limit of 14 days in a 30-day period is enforced. Brian. -
Awesome Gold, Congratulations! I have hunted the Sawtooth area as well and came away with the same thought. Bummer about the Z, hope ML can get it fixed fast. I will be up there hunting the Rye Patch area in two weeks, really looking forward to it. Brian.

Minelab Detectors For The Next 12 Months
Nevada Brian replied to Rick K - First Member's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
I wonder if the GPX technology is tapped out? Because of the new technology in the 7000, could some of that knowledge be used to create a super timing for the GPX that would out perform the 7000? The GPX already has a discriminator! Just a thought. Brian. -
Treasure / Trash Pouch

Treasure / Trash Pouch
Nevada Brian replied to Grass Valley Buck Master's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Terry, thank you for posting about your pouch. My trash pouch, which I have been using for about 6 years has developed many small holes. I keep dropping very small metallic objects so I just ordered a solid bottom pouch on ebay. I don't mind spending the extra money when I know the product is solid. Thanks again, Brian. -

Pretty Little Gold Nugget
Nevada Brian replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
That is a beautiful nugget and so clean. -
Scott, did they say if these additional maps would be free?
-
My opinion of the app that Scott posted. I downloaded many FREE quality topo maps directly to my phone. I used my phone as a GPS and was able to track my progress directly to my phone in real time. My IPhone uses satellites for GPS reception not cell towers and I was detecting under the canopy of trees. The two nuggets I recovered, I was able to drop a pin on that location, write a description and even take a photo. I'm very happy with the app and have suggested it to a few of my fellow prospectors. I will continue to use, thank you Scott Brian.

Thanks Scott, this app is really cool. It did take me a little while to figured out how to only display free topo maps. thanks again, Brian.

Ok, Klunker, The Steel Pan?
Nevada Brian replied to YubaJ's topic in Gold Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Drywashing, Etc
Klunker, are you willing to share more information on this depth enhancer. You have us hooked now :) Brian. -
Steve, I haven't read article #2, and maybe you address it there or will, but how well does the GPS work under the canopy of pine trees like in the Sierras? I use a Garmin Etrex with a high sensitivity antenna to mark my spots, reception is slow but fairly accurate. I don't own a GPZ, but I hope to someday soon :) Thanks, Brian.

Half Day Hunt For Gold N Meteorite
Nevada Brian replied to DolanDave's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Great finds Dave and way to listen for those faint signals. And yes, excellent video. I would like to know the manufacture of the HD camera please. I'm in the market for one, but really don't want to pay the high price for a go pro. Brian. -
Beautiful nugget Peg. You have me beat on weight and time, lol. Any luck today?
-
Thanks for the congratulations. Found a small specimen piece yesterday, has about one maybe two pennyweight of gold in it.

No Jim, haven't traveled that road in years. That road is dangerous!
