25mm Diameter Old Copper, Need Help With ID If Possible.

Recommended Posts

Gave the Apex a quick run at the river banks for less than an hour and found this in some rocks. It isn't a large cent, too small and head seems to be facing left instead of right. 25mm diameter exactly. Coin is thin too but no signs of ever having a rim. Stumped on this one.

American clad quarter is about the only US coin about that size in mm, 24.26. Could be a British half cent. They were around 25mm.

Not a half penny, think I already found one and have it put away. This is much thinner so after talkig to dogodog I think he is right and it's an early kg 1740's or there abouts.

Would be a farthing I would think.

I am looking at my 1 farthing and it appears to look very similar to it in size and the way the head faces to the right.

Mine has a distinct rim and is from 1799, so I would say it will be of British origin.

Great find and keep up the good luck on your finds.
