fredmason
thanks Guys, when I first seen him I got off to the side and lay down to get a better view, he came to me. Then not wanting to bother him I moved away and he came to the detector on the ground. Then I moved down the hill and came to me again...I didn't know my charm extended to tortoises... fred

tvanwho
Maybe it was pheromones or was attracted to bright colors..I found one of these as a kid in Paradise Valley Az but the man across the street wanted it and my folks made us give it to him...what do they eat anyway? I'd rather meet up with a tortoise any day vs a rattler, scorpion, centipede,etc..
Swifty
Fred you have no idea how hard it was to train him to follow you and fit a gps tracker on that tortoises. :)

Lanny
Fred, I really enjoyed the pictures. It brought back some memories from time I spent in the desert. I've also enjoyed all of the humor and good-natured ribbing it spawned. All the best, Lanny
fredmason
you should have been there Scott...chili verde and chocolate cake with peanut-butter frosting was served to Heather/Norm, Estile and Jonny and Jane ...I think they liked it. Heather made some great corn-bread and Jane made some fried potatoes, all very tasty. Tortoises eat anything green like grasses, bushes and also cacti of various kinds. fred
