  2. I can't speak for JCR although I do know that he has similar issues as me with both of the detectors you mentioned. I can only speak for myself. I use detectors in the USA where ground conditions are not good with high amounts of natural iron and volcanic material mixed into the soil. The Fisher F75, Nokta Simplex and the Minelab X-Terra Pro do not operate well in these conditions. Potential depth is cut in half and target ID stability and accuracy are poor. I know this from actual experience through owning and using the F75, Simplex and the Equinox models in single frequency, not from reading about it or from hearsay. The Xterra Pro is basically an Equinox 700 without a few features and most importantly without simultaneous multi frequency operation. The only detectors sold in the USA that can handle these conditions easily are simultaneous multi frequency detectors like the Nokta Legend and Double Score, Minelab Equinox 600/800 700/900, Minelab Manticore and XP Deus 2. All of those detectors also can be used as selectable single frequency detectors that will run at the same or similar frequency as the F75 and Simplex. Unless you simply do not want one of the detectors JCR and I mentioned, having a detector like the Legend, Double Score or Equinox 600 which can be used in Multi frequency or one or more single frequencies just makes sense plus they have wireless audio, internal rechargeable batteries, online software updates, and lots of other useful features that especially the F75 simply does not have and never will. You get the best of both type of detector in one, single and simultaneous multi frequency. If your ground conditions are challenging, simultaneous multi frequency tech in the Nokta Legend/Double Score, Minelab Equinox/Manticore and Deus 2 will make a huge difference compared to the Xterra Pro, Simplex and the F75. If you are new to detecting......OK. Buy whatever you want. The F75 is not a beginner detector. The Xterra Pro and Simplex, sure they are suitable for a beginner. So is the Equinox 600 and the Double Score and Legend if you go slow.
  3. My wife & I were there once back in 2015. Found it totally by accident.
  4. Here's some old school mining. I'd love to run those tailings through a good trommel & sluice setup.
  5. and why the distrust to fischer f 75 ltd? it costs 400 if I'm not mistaken. it seems a good price for a professional device. i would take two. fischer and minelab but now i need one for now, so to speak...
  6. Have you ever been to Area 52 (Dugway) ? Very interesting place.
  7. Gareth, I don't want to, I think they are shallow, do you like minelab? what's wrong with terra? nocta legend also looked at, but the company itself for some reason rejects. either minelab or fisher. maybe it's better to take 600 minelab? they are now cheaper .
  8. Today
  9. I would look at the Nokta Score/Double Score & Legend and the Minelab Vanquish line. Garrett's offering is the Apex.
  10. The site does seem snappier. Much appreciated! - Dave
  11. Not all GPX 6000s exhibited the issue or not enough to bother the owner. I got along just fine with my never fixed 6000. People went from denying there was an issue to now insisting every 6000 made had the issue. The truth is probably more in the middle.
  12. I think you'll find its most noticeable when using the speaker, it exists with headphones too to some degree. There are no negatives to getting it done, only positives. There was fear they were dumbing down the machine to fix the EMI problem, the fact is its a simple component change to a better quality component to improve shielding. Two of this little innocent looking part caused so much grief. This is the new replacement part type. TDK Power Inductors - SMD 22uH 20% 0.71ohm 0.8A AEC-Q200 From the part specifications: Shielding : Shielded It's quite possible the original part used was an unshielded inductor, or just a poorly shielded brand. The part cost for me to buy retail, $1.53 🙂
  13. what kind of device are we talking about? and what options do you offer? i am more inclined to f75 because it was the leader in its line, but minelab also has its advantages, the main thing in the device is stability, depth and ease of use. thanks
  14. I've spent a lot of time hunting side by side with a guy both of us using our 6000's.. mine had the speaker up date/fix his did not.....now his does. Do your self a favor...if you have an older 6000 that needs the speaker fix... get it fixed...you trusted minelab enough to buy their machine in the first place why not trust them to fix it... strick Strick I`ve started a new thread to answer you, about ML the company we love to hate or hate to love. ML like always fix problems with their machines, the 6K speaker problem by MLs definition applies to those who use the speaker, no problem to me don`t use the speaker. The 6K roughly computing has paid for itself every 50 hours of use for the years I`ve had it, which to this slow old codger is 2 weeks slacko detecting, thus as such a very productive detector I adopt the attitude my 6K aint broke.......... the next detector ML brings out has their "Geo Sense" is going to be a ripper.
  15. I love it. Waiting for more. Subscribed. Thanks
  16. Mighty coil, you`ll enjoy. Wack a spiral wound Mono coil of same weight on the Algo and it`ll compete. Be probably 13/14" round. Just a bit of old fella food for thought. 😉
  17. The key of this forum is the Quality of the content and the users itself.
  18. I probably won't use the F19 for gold, although upon firing it up and trying it out with the Nel Snake I must say the 19kHz Fishers have always been pretty impressive and it's easy to forget after having the Bugs in the cupboard for a few years, detectors like the GB2 and Equinox 800 will hit smaller gold, but how small is too small? For me I love finding the tiny stuff for the challenge of it all, it virtually has no value so it's not something everyone would waste their time doing, I'm never bothered about that, none of my gold has value as it's never getting sold. They like our milder NZ soil too, and get pretty good depth on nuggets, Justin at the gold shop in Arrowtown talked highly of his time using Gold Bug's right from the first one and the masses of gold he found with them. We have the advantage here of not having to worry about ground balance, the Bug hits the ground running and just works so losing performance due to the ground isn't such an issue. The key to the 19kHz detectors from FT and small gold performance is the threshold, it has a sweet spot, too high and you lose performance, too low and you lose performance, you have to get it just right, you quickly learn with air testing the just right position so it's not a challenge to work it out, but it's a necessity to get it right for best results. Something we will never know is if gold we found with one model detector would have been found with another, I think I'd do alright with the F19 on gold and doubt I'd miss much that I'd find with the Nox or GM1000.
  19. I will suggest you seriously consider a MF machine. It will handle the soil & iron much better than a Single frequency unit with more stable TIDs. There are several to choose from in your price range. Welcome to the Forum from East Texas.
  20. Sounds like a reasonable plan to conserve water. Either way you will find gold this season or next. I don't really think it is much of a gamble, just realistic planning with what is presented to you ... if that makes sense!
  21. I don't buy that at all. They provided us an Equinox 800, EQ-900 & Manticore. All 3 detectors are known for Top selling & performing Coin/Relic detectors. But most water/beach hunters use them over the Xcal-II 1000. And when it comes to Gold Prospecting, the 3 detectors can outperform the Gold Only GM-1000. So they have listened and provided us with true Multi Use VLF detectors. Now, would be a great time to offer us a PI/VLF. They Minelab, have done us many options and I appreciate such. And as a greedy detectorists, I want more. Don't we all?
  22. Thanks Colonel, It wasn't as good as I would have liked (gold), but I only went out at low tide, never in the surf. It's a 5 foot tide so it goes out pretty far, not as bad as Savannah's 10 foot tide but you still get a lot of wet to cover, it's just so mineralized the gold doesn't poke through. No one I talked to said they ever found a gold ring there except in the dry. 🫤 Still love the place, it's just the beginning. 🙂
