I’m torn between pastelite, a type of jasper, or quartz. Most pictures look like quarts but the way it fractures in one picture makes me think pastelite. Where did you find it? Looks like pastelite I found in central AZ.

Nice finds Damatman, From my experiences recently the sitrep is that beaches are a bit lean right now, but it's still early. Seems like there are quite a few more detectorists out there too 🤔 But no worries, they won't find much doing this. 🤣 It will get better. 🍀

Some fly specs from an overnight trip this weekend. It’s getting smaller and harder to find. Man I would love a chunk👍

Have a blast, man. Sounds like a fun trip. 😁

I've got my stuff charged and ready to load it up and drive to Rye Patch for a 3-4 day workout before it gets too warm. If this goes well then I'll try to get back up there. I'll have 3 detectors with me and several coil combinations. My plan is to grid an area (maybe with all 3) and mark what I find and see if the other detectors can see the targets. I need to mark them somehow. The other question is what detector and coil to use first ... and if I really want nuggets I should take each detector to new ground. How big will the grid area be? It's tough to find anything up in the training areas but that is where the gold was before. I'm not quadding so I can't go totally wild.

Here is a story that says Magnetic Island needs visitors and tourists. Is that true? https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/eerie-video-shows-once-thriving-tourist-island-completely-deserted/ar-BB1mBLb9

Quartz most likely. Do a scratch test. It should scratch glass and a basic steel knife, but a tungsten tipped drill bit will scratch it.

Coiltek 14 DD Goldstalker Vs 14 Elite DD
Tony replied to Tyler's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I think it's the other way around (well at least here in Australia). All new Coiltek 14" DD coils are named 14" DD GOLDSTALKER SERIES I bought one last year. It had to be ordered in from Coiltek. I always thought of them as a beige colour. On the US websites, I can see they advertise the Coiltek 14″ DD Pro Elite. Are these "new old stock" ??? or will a US buyer receive the one in the photo? I'm sure Coiltek aren't producing both versions. -
Scratchy Low Tid - 18ct 37gm Chain (video)
TTT2866 replied to TTT2866's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
For anyone who's interested in the full video, I've just posted it to youtube 🙂 I found a gold ring in the same spot the next morning but didn't have enough footage to make a full video on so I just added it to the same video. -

Hmm mr @phrunt any ideas where I can get a waterproof plug from? Still struggling to find one -
Thank you everyone for the advise. I ended up returning the machine altogether as there were too many issues. It was bought from a pawn shop via eBay auction. When I received it, it was nothing like the photos. Broken handle, broken screen, shredded power, rusted screws, broken coil cables, missing speaker bracket, no headphones, and missing battery cover for the amp. All was replaceable and I could still justify it for the price I paid but the screen was the tipping point.

Well I spoke too soon. I tried to cut and paste about 60gb of videos from my old hard drive to my new one and it just stopped after 30gb and the other 30gb simply disappeared. Still have a couple of good days of video but there's 1 really good clip I'm sad about losing. Oh well. Another video hopefully coming out today - I've been waiting to head back there with the drone to put some footage of the area in my video 🙂

Has The CTX Had Its Day? Coiltek Thinks So.
Daniel Tn replied to phrunt's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
With the coil selection, the eTrac was always my favorite coin detector on land...excluding beach hunting. The only time I preferred the CTX was for the saltwater beach. I did however, like the balance of the CTX better. -
Has The CTX Had Its Day? Coiltek Thinks So.
Rattlehead replied to phrunt's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
I’ve owned and liked them both. The CTX brought a few more bells and whistles to the table for sure. Though I never really used things like the GPS, I did appreciate the improved screen, Target Trace and separation modes. Even though it was still heavy, I liked the ergonomics of the 3030 better. Especially the trigger style pinpoint button. I still prefer the flutey tones of the Etrac.
