Figure I can always upgrade later, might as well start with the minimum so I can appreciate it when I spend the big $$ someday on a Nox, PI, etc. 🙂 Dealer seemed to think it would suit my purposes just fine, highly recommended it over the Simplex for our beaches since the Vanquish is multi-frequency. Minimize your investment until you are sure about the hobby. Once you decide to take the plunge and upgrade as you become more serious about detecting you can always use the Vaquish as a decent backup.
