  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah that was kind of the plan but I’ll just have to make do with what I have until I get a new coil. No point in getting upset over minor things and if this is the worst thing that happens to me this year I’ll count my blessings.
  3. Understandable, I have an 800 (now dead bad on/off switch) and a V540! Both good machines, but I'm not replacing them! I don't think I'm punishing them at all, they could care less if they loose my business! I just refuse to give them another dime! Quality control was/is a huge issue for the 800; that was my 3rd pod! And replaced two 11" coils for broken ears! So yeah, done!! Gonna sell off my remaining coils and shafts, and move on!🍀👍👍
  4. Then probably a drill site as Aureous says, or maybe weathering bedrock outcrops? It would help also if you can get a geologic map of the area. If you suspect a drill site, it wouldn’t hurt to take some samples and pan them out.
  5. It would be much easier to switch if they didn't make such good machines. I have a Double Score and it hunts very well.
  6. That is a real 💩 sandwich. Defective coil and they make the customer pay. That isn't customer service. That's just slack. As big a company that Minelab is and with all their money they could have sent you a call tag/shipping label. I'm sure they would not have been on the hook for $9.99 it would have been much less since they do volume. I also am not impressed with the "can't find your registration" game either. Obvious stall tactic. I always felt like when Jamie left Minelab it would be poop. Sure sounds to be the case. She was the best.
  7. You got screwed! And I agree I'm with Joe D, we should punish this asshole company whenever possible. Minelab is clearly a straight forward stock value oriented. I am cheering for Nokta. I hope their PI is somehow superior to the Axiom or the Algoforce. My problem is that if Minelab comes out with the GPZ 8 I surely will consider selling my left nut to get one! 😀
  8. Drilling of Nickel anomalies and structural drilling has been going on there since the early 1970's. A great deal of 'Mining the stockmarket' occurred during and after the Poseidon Nickel boom of the late 1960's. A great many minor Nickel anomalies were drilled and explored to give the appearance of actual work taking place. The region is full of these and the soil is usually discolored for many decades.
  9. Good luck with Simon!!😬🙄 😜😆🍀👍👍
  10. Today
  11. Wow----SO MUCH confusion with Nokta.-----I can't keep up with it all!
  12. Simon is on his way to meet me for a bit of a gold hunt. That gives me a few minutes to search through my phone and post a couple of pictures. Searching through is time consuming but I'll start with a picture of Bradrona! This was in the middle of what Simon tells me is a large gold area really labeled Cardona. This was on the ride down the road from the lake at Wanaka. Somehow the hikers and others decided to leave a little (or large) piece of their clothing behind. There is gold and gold workings in them thar hills. This search for photo and posting has taken 15 minutes. One thing I need to say is my wife has better photos because it is hard to drive and take photos at the same time. Klunker said put together an album and I will when I get back. I'll check off a bunch of Google Photos and share it for any who care. Now it is time to get organized for Simon.
  13. I had to pay for shipping and insure my former GPX 6000 to get the speaker/EMI upgrade done under warranty. It definitely did not cost me $9.99!!! I hope they get you a working 11" coil soon. Found more ridiculous coins at 11" deep today with my Manticore 11" coil in an aluminum trashed public park. These coins are from the time that the park was built and are very old for the Denver area. I am positive that the M8 would not have gotten anywhere near that depth in that park.
  14. Easy fix! lf you don't like the games they play, stop buying their products! And that goes for anything, not just detectors! There are enough good companies with good products, that actually care about customer input, before and after the sale, to not tolerate repetitive failures of products and management! ML has permanently lost me due to this very fact! I do just as well with the now defunct White's and Tesoro's; to name a few brands i use! And I'm suffering no remorse for ML's products! They don't even help out the customers in their own country; that speaks volumes! "Fool me once..." 🍀👍👍
  15. When it's a slow moving ship to release it gives people plenty of time to jump off, and other brands are pricing their models to encourage this. Those are lost sales.
  16. That's mostly old ad copy being recycled, kind of like the detectors. But yeah, they have low operating costs and can continue to milk the old product for a long time, dropping prices as much as needed to keep the sales going. Especially if they sell direct cutting out middle men.
  17. I am very tall so the D2 rod was never really long enough, and the flex was ridiculous. So, 100% worth it for me. For us seasoned beach hunters there is nothing out there that does not need some tweak to make it bullet-proof. If companies were smart, they would consult beach hunters on their equipment standards.
  18. John is right twice over on this - if it is a good product at a good price it will sell. I've seen people complain endlessly about detecting stuff only to be first in line to buy when the time comes.
  19. Yes it certainly does Lanny. Good on you. D4G
  20. A fault that makes it run fine yet not be as sensitive as the competitor's coil 🙂 With the background of the story behind it they had the opportunity to replace it if they thought it was faulty, but how would that go when the replacement arrives and I put up videos of it in comparison again being no better? Better to leave that shadow of doubt in people's heads than take that path. Anyway, old story, new story is people who have the same X-coil have since had the same results, you can check on the X-coils facebook group with the users if you like. NF are excellent at making spiral coils, had they been able to make the Z-search a spiral I'm sure it would be different story.
  21. But.... what if it was faulty? You will never know now. I also wonder that the people that go on about the Z Search, have they tried any X coils? If not, then they will never know either. So, does it become an us & them thing? D4G
  22. That's why you made such a good detector tester Steve, don't mind telling it how it is even if feelings get hurt. I'd rather someone that picks on every possible little flaw testing my detectors than someone that's out to please and trying to ensure they continue to have the testing role in the future. I'm quite sad to see the tide turn on Garrett on social media after this Storm event, and it did go from excitement to resentment. Fan groups have turned against them because of this delayed marketing method.
  23. Time... aren't you on holiday? Connections.... most places you stay at will have free wifi. Even MacDonald's has free wifi. D4G
  24. How about a nugget or two? I am sure he would like that more than a flake or two. If detecting fails you could take him panning down the Arrow or by the Oxenbridge Tunnel on the Shotover & almost be guaranteed a flake or two from my experience. D4G
  25. Correct, I thought it was a lemon because it lacked performance compared to the 12" Spiral I was comparing it to, it works fine, but is virtually no more sensitive than the stock coil. The previous owner had X-coils and bought it to compare, had it a couple of weeks and sold it to me as he didn't see a need to have it, it came with receipt I could have sent it in for warranty, he could have swapped it out at the dealer it was so new but neither of us think its faulty, we just think it's not as good for performance. It was a given that a shadow of doubt would be put over my coil being faulty as I was putting up videos showing it lacking performance compared to the competitors right as it first came out. There is a story to go with this but I'll not put it here.
  26. From my understanding he got one 2nd hand, considered it a lemon & chopped the chip end off it to make an adapter for his X coils. There was a long standing debate from JP that it may have been a faulty coil from production but Phrunt just roasted it & gave it no 2nd chances. D4G
