I wear hearing aids and have some profound loss of certain frequencies. I looked at the audiologist report curve to see which ones I hear better then tried set the NOX for those tones, it helps. Plus I know with the hearing aids I wont miss any tones my natural hearing mises. I turn the NOX volume to max then use the earphones to lower it to a comfortable level. Sounds like a lot and someone may not need to do all of these things, just do what works for you. Cheers

CTX 4040 Or Equinox 1000... Or Both?

Depending on when Minelabs' fiscal year begins (July 1, 2021?), these may not be out for another year except for beta testers. Cant wait. -

My Equinox 800 Is Back After It Leaked

i'd put it in the bathtub tonight. You got that back really fast. Curious: did they give you a new one or was it the same serial number? -

Great idea! -
In addition to the great advice above, I can only add that the NOX will receive and sound on lighting strikes. In fact, when it gets really chatty for no other apparent reason (mentioned above) it is time to leave as a storm is nearby. It hears the approaching strikes before you hear the thunder. YMMV or as Colonel Dan says "the view from my foxhole". Cheers

Outstanding, makes it very clear to me. There are so many adjustments possible on the NOX, it helps when they are pared down to the ones that work in your foxhole. Applying this information to my beaches will allow me to test my specific dialing in method. Always looking for fine tuning tips and this is one I will definitely use. Like the stick testors too. Best regards! This is a local low tide beach yesterday but too much lightning to try it.

Low Weighted Multi Vs 5/10 Khz To Avoid Tiny Targets
FloridaSon replied to Argyris's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
For what it's worth a friend of mine has done well on Florida beaches using Beach 1 high sensitivity in the wet sand as the waves go out. I will be trying this myself (due to Beach 1 micro targets and falsing) next time I go. I always check other settings to meet the soil and EMI conditions. -
Hi Colonel Dan, Want to turn this into a tutorial? Do you dial it in for a certain conductor? Or is it to prevent certain conductors from sounding off as much? Thanks for you articles!

Minelab Equinox Ground Balance Setting

hi is that for all types of soil? -
1. Happened to me soon After getting my nox and sent it back. ML saidHigh sensitivity. Had it over a year now. I didn’tLike their answer but it turns out it was high sens. At the beach even scanning over a footprint and not hitting anything will do that. When that happens I litter it a couple notches. I Read the book by Clive C. or Andy S. It helps. They talk about running a stable machine. 2. could be the cars but also Wi-Fi and I found a building storm will do that. good hunting. It will come together with more time.

Congrats and like the display, down here some are cut into quarters also. Some have the 'sprue' on it. It's great isn't it!

Nice. Looking back, a very similar tack was found a couple years back. You have a knack for tacks. Hope you find a beach nugget down here one day too. Cheers

I thought that might have been you when I heard you say "woohoo"; you posted that once. I thought, I wondered if that was IdahoPeg but realized if I asked and it wasn't you, they would think I was crazy! You are right about all the competition, and most at Turtle! I heard there is a group that goes at night, that would have been around the 1am low tide. You still have the best find with your reale silver sandwich find. Regards...

Today at least two reales found with the equinox . A guy was leaving as I showed up and proudly showed his two 1/2 Reales. Also heard might be more found. Too bad it closed up again this afternoon. I managed to find a piece of lead with sack cloth imprint so I didn’t get skunked. Must have been 20 people there detecting. Many using the NOX.

Suggestions For Aftermarket Wireless Aptx Headphones
FloridaSon replied to groundscanner's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
The MICCUS third link above has a warning for metal detectorists: IMPORTANT NOTE FOR METAL DETECTOR USE: The current SR-71 Bluetooth 5.0 release DOES NOT work with metal detecting equipment. The reviews are citing earlier 4.2 versions of the headphones. Too bad, first I have seen touting "noise canceling' -
Beach Classification: Dry, Damp, Wet And Surf
FloridaSon replied to ColonelDan's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Do you find a loss of depth when using Beach 2 on wet sand compared to using B1? In all but surf or trough, I use B1, tracking GB (until I hit a target as repeated sweeps sometimes cause tracking to drop the target as 'ground') as you said SENS adjusted to stable. Do hear a growl as I sweep the wet sand (east to west and back) and must keep the coil parallel to avoid falsing at the ends of each sweep. I use the same B1 settings in dry, damp or wet sand. Regards, -
In case you are not following treasurebeachesreport; Here is one answer posted just today Jan 24, settings included: http://treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com This year as soon as one beach erodes, the county is jumping on the sand renourishment 'emergency' kick to make the beach 'nicer' for everyone. ONE day after some good erosion at Golden Sands park, they closed it and are running trucks in and out like those garbage trucks in Soylent Green! Enjoy, drool or cry - your choice

Woo Hoo! Update On My Silver Sandwich!
FloridaSon replied to IdahoPeg's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Indian River County used to get sand offshore, which was a better quality and occasionally brought some interesting finds if they accidentally dredged over/around an old wreck. In 2009, the county commission was 'moved' to help the out of work truck drivers and sand mine owners (no homebuilding for a while) and decided against sourcing sand offshore. Some sand (used on the northern beaches) was dredged from the West side of the Sebastian inlet - you never saw the can slaw! So where do they get sand for the rest of the coastline since 2009? Old sand dunes west of I-95. They say the 'gray' sand will bleach white over time ..... yay -

What a great find, and you kept at it. Way to go! I gave up on that stretch after all the renourishment sand pumped on it a few months ago. Really glad for you, you are keeping the dream alive! That is a great find!
