  1. I have never had that problem but I really would like it if I did. So much so that I would even unscrew the cap every time.
  2. Good, smart work Jason. Hope the off-season goes well and look forward to hearing of your new adventures.
  3. Wow, that's a great looking set-up. Nice job! Can't wait to hear how it works in the field. Have fun!
  4. JP's DVD's are hands down the best instructional/educational work every done for metal detectorists. The amount of time and energy he put into them is beyond what most people can imagine - and he made it look effortless. I know from first hand experience - 33 years in feature films and shooting documentaries on my own, just how exacting and time consuming producing his videos was. And then of course people bootlegged them which is just another word for robbery. Nothing blunts the incentive to put out high level work like having your work copied (stolen). We are lucky to have two of the most respected and knowledgeable people posting on these forums; Steve and JP - along with many others who contribute amazing information that makes us all better at what we do. When the fountain of information keeps flowing so freely it's easy to take it for granted. It's hard to remember but in days gone by, most of the alternatives were places like Finders Forum where pitched ego battles still rage even today. I like it here and I know I'm not alone.
  5. That is the clearest most understandable explanation of those controls I have ever come across. It took careful thought to set out and probably quite a bit of time. Thank you.
  6. I have literally walked with this guy in Mariposa and saw him "witch" water. They dug a well on the spot he recommended after having trouble locating where to dig and they got water at the needed level. I knew the people that hired him and I saw him do it (at another place too). Some things can't be rationally explained, but that does not mean they aren't real and don't work.
  7. Great article Eric. I have known two diviners from my earlier days up in the Mother Lode when I was dredging during multiple summers. One fellow and he was at quite an advanced age (in body only), was a water diviner that many of the well diggers in Mariposa County used, and it was really fun to hear him talk about how and what he did as he worked…very much in the manner of the man in the article. The other man, also older, said he divined for gold and apparently according to him, was quite successful, but I never saw him work. It's pretty much a lost art.
  8. I would suggest you give an SP01 a try. I honestly think you will be pleased.
  9. I swear by the Steelphase. It has helped my detecting immeasurably.
  10. Those are great-looking. Nice work. Nice backyard Condor...
  11. Have never used audio smoothing as long as I've had the GPZ. Are there conditions where I should? (apologies for slightly off-topic).
  12. Another very clear and tantalizing post Jason. Thanks for putting in the effort. Enjoy the rest of your time out there.
  13. Interesting out of focus somethingorother in the b.g. too...
  14. Years ago (staring in 2005 I think), we built coil cable stabilizers for the 3500-5000's. They attached to the upper rod and to the coil cable right up next to where it screwed into the box. They worked incredibly well for stopping the wobble at the attachment point that so many of those machines seemed to have. We even wondered at the time why ML couldn't incorporate one as a part of their detectors, but no answer. I tried to find the old forum articles but no luck, too far back for the forums storage capabilities.
  15. I do think for serious prospectors, the 6000 will seemingly give them a measure of portability for searching a wider range of new possibilities than lugging that brick of a 7000. People like Jason will be big beneficiaries of that jump in ergonomics with less weight while not losing much in detecting power.
  16. Putting in a vote for in-the-field comparisons and experience with the machine. Everything else, including advertising, seems to be almost pointless. Can't think of better advertising than the testers being allowed to speak of their findings.
  17. Thanks for taking the time to inform us. Always appreciated.
  18. Those two are unique and beautifully set out. Nice work! Well done.
