  1. 18K is still gold , arrrrrrrrrr ! Well done and I'm sure you'll be findin' more.....
  2. Welcome aboard Those finds sound good from here. Go back and keep looking . May the force be with you.
  3. Sorry Charles I was hoping it was detecting an alien ! But Cyborg would have been more likely for sure ! Better luck next time. Maybe you still can use it to find a cyborg , WAIT ! Maybe we've ALL been replaced by Cyborgs in our sleep ??? Welcome aboard and hope you find some cool stuff. I've seen some amazing finds in your neck of the woods !
  4. welcome aboard ric44 That's a cool way to enjoy the hobby.
  5. Welcome aboard Ken. Have you found any meteorites yet ? That sounds really interesting.
  6. welcome to retirement bucketlist. and the forums too , but priorities go to the retirement part. ! (I can't find a dancing emoji but you made it ! yee haaaa) Your next adventure begins , good luck to ya ! Stop by and tell us how it's going and ask anything, no such thing as a dumb question.. I
  7. Heya GoDucks Welcome to the campfire. Find anything good today ?
  8. Welcome to the group. If you know what to do , tell somebody else. If you don't , ask here. If you find something good , post a pic and tell us all the details. If you can't find anything , ask here. If you figure something out,,,,,, well , you get the idea !
  9. Welcome aboard Take your shoes off ..and sit a spell.
  10. OK , new plan...... I'm going through the manual and make up some FLASH CARD CLIFF NOTES !. skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh
  11. Glad to read this. If that's the only problem with the PF35 , I'm getting lithiums ! (I've been using dollar tree carbon cells so far LOL ....it's a wonder the thing worked at all if it's that voltage sensitive ????) The 2 pack posted sounds like a reasonable price to me...doubt I'll go through both in one day ! I live in my camper and (hopefully)everything charges off the solar/battery combo. Rechargables are my world.
  12. With the manual quotes I can remember this now... I only read it this summer , of course I was trying to absorb the whole thing in just a few go-rounds. They say short term memory is the first to go , so guess I can blame it on that ! LOL Maybe this will increase my odds next time I need it....
  13. I personally prefer the detectors that go beep. The ones that go boop are so old school outdated.. Oh my goshk ! It only took me 30 years to decide to upgrade and then 10 more years to pick "the one" for me ! It's an 800. So far ,,,I feel it's was worth the wait. Bells and whistles ? The 800 doesn't have enough of those ? Who knew ! I think your decision to wait for the next wave of offerings may be the best at this point. Until then , the one in your hands seems more than just adequate. AND it's a lot more detector than a lot of people will ever have. All this talk of the Minelab "1000" or any other you may choose to be your ticket to happiness. Maybe it won't. and you'll still be wanting more ..... In my former life in pro audio we had a saying ,,,,,"it's not how many channels you have , it's what you're doing with them ". (AKA: It's not the gear , it's the engineer)
  14. Bucket list location. I'm staying close to mom for now. 96yo and in assisted living. I'll just have to be happy reading about all the gold found in that particular sand ... but you can send any you don't need skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh🤑
  15. SOHN I was thinking more about your "extra" pinpointer. (It worked and then after being on the shelf for a year or more ,,,it didn't.) I'm wondering if the on-off switch may have oxidated contacts...possibly battery contacts too... IF you can get to the switch and it isn't totally sealed up so you can't get inside. There is a product called DeOxit D5 about ~$15 for a small spray can. on AMAZ etc. It will clean and protect those contacts in a hurry. And cure noisy volume/tone pots. Also great for improving conductivity on things like batteries , usb ports and charge wire contacts . Guitar cords and jacks ,all volume/tone pots , foot pedal switches jacks and battery connectors , cell phones , whatever. Try it out people ! Serious stuff , possibly even top secret.... I'll probably get hate mail from repair techs for telling you all......
  16. OH AYUH ! Wicked good Chummy yessuh ! Well I hope you got one of those coins instead of old president pics.....
  17. Welcome aboard Sun- Boy I've called S.Texas home from time to time . Believe it or not Pecos was my favorite ! Detector improvement ideas !hmmmmmmm yup yup we got THOSE ! Many already posted and more arriving on track 14 b. Read up on the forums you'll find plenty Nowwwwwwww designing detectors but not into USING them ????? You'll drink the kool aid after being here for a while I'd guess .........Skuh kuh kuh kuh
  18. Welcome aboard Deimos I bet there are some great finds in YOUR backyard ! post pics if ya got some.
  19. The pinpointer is the same note as your fave feed back ? the waves are just white noise but of course include pinpointer note too. Fortunately a scoop is much easier to hear. I have audio on 25 for all tones except ferrous on my Nox ! such is life.........
  20. SOHK Did you ever think the reason you can't hear those pinpointers so well might be threshold shift from standing in front of those 8 (16?) 12" speakers on 11 did you ?? LOL The ringing drowns it out. For some reason I can say it's possible. I SAID FOR SOME REASON I CAN SAY IT'S POSSIBLE . skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh and it only took me 40 years to find out. Good luck on a quick fix whatever you decide to do. Looks like even the repairs need a QC dept. Probably micro components on the pcb too ....it IS hard to test/repair things you can barely see !. (I don't remember seeing a schematic in an owners manual since the 80s...)
  21. Not all electronic devices are created equally these days.... Some are built in a better part of China ??? Plus QC seems to have become the consumer sending something back or into the circular file. That's all I got on that. . Hey School , did you try bringing the Marshall and plug it in ? I'd suggest a half stack for portability... But seriously there are the little battery mini stacks...... just need a speaker jack on the pointer.
  22. OH yeah , totally forgot these.... I also have seen some home made "sand scoops" out of old plastic Clorox bottles with drilled out holes . Can't get much cheaper than that ! Maybe you could add some hardware cloth...................
  23. Well , I did read the whole thread....(As well as a bunch more since I joined the forum!). My advice is wait. Then get the one phrunt has been using , you share similar soil. And it solves the import problem too ! I detected for 30 years without a pinpointer , or a sand scoop , and didn't have one built into the detector... I made screens . big screens , little screens ,floating screens with 1/8" , 1/4" Hardware Cloth mostly , figured 1/2" would lose too many smalls.. I have seen some that use plastic screen but never tried it figuring it wouldn't last too long but it is a good idea if you want to use a PINPOINTER in it Skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh Usually wood framed and the floaters just added pool noodles to the sides. Gigmaster in Fla. has some U-Boob vids of some floaters that he made with PVC. Even without anything but a shovel or one of mom's old garden trowels , I could still pick through or spread out the sand/dirt and use the detector if I couldn't see the target. Having one now , I do think it speeds things up , especially when I miss the target with the hole and probe the sides to find which way to go. I have bad elbows from hefting too many amplifiers and speaker cabinets so prefer smaller lighter tools and chose my sand scoop and shovel size because of it. OK , I'm popeye size too (I've seen you describe yourself as more the Bluto type so just adjust to your preference ...) I envy you folks down in NZ and Aus for the population density. More unfound targets and less people looking...as we say up in MY neck of the woods OH AYUH !
  24. Thx guys ! All my remaining relatives from down that way have moved to Sanford. Still close but not on the beaches . It's OK though , the beach parking lots don't charge the locals during off season ! They don't plow them either.... Skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh In a frozen fog bank today . Over a foot of sno* on the ground and it's been frigid so the only digging left IS those beaches....unless you count digging out from the sno* Yo Ho Ho Hope everybody gets a new detector for Christmas ! Oh another thing I might need to mention... ? I'm also a professional pirate. Captained the good ship Buccaneer ,,,,at Storyland theme park ! (and NO , it wasn't on a rail....) Best job ever ! arrrrrrrrr .And I had my dream job for 25 years before that.... Dig 'em all ! We'll sort 'em out latarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
