  1. That river in Maine is probably the Swift , there are a couple others... OH and a stream called GOLD ! She's true I tell ya Chummy , OH AYUH
  2. RR Sorry I forgot you mentioned something about a generator. To clear that up.. The Renogy isn't a generator , just a PSW inverter. I do have a Honda EU2000i genny (with a PSW built in) though.... OK , back to our story.....
  3. RR Not trying to derail the thread just it was mentioned in a few posts and was throwing it in to make that recc. I'm not putting down MSW inverters. (My black lagoon one was a PSW type...LOL) Your prize is a great idea and very a generous one too. (And I may steal your idea in the future !) I have fried a laptop supply brick on one though ...and have seen reports from others experiencing the same. The switching type chargers typical today sometimes don't play well with a MSW inverter. So I shy away from MSW for sensitive electronic devices. Thinking about it more the Nox power supply is a built in USB so only risking the outboard device , which are relatively cheap. It does work for some of them but may be a cumulative effect type thing too. I don't know what other detectors use to charge though so throwing this in for a heads up JIC. Things that use AA or 9v batteries are exempt (except for the charger if you use rechargables) . I've had a 400w MSW in the rig for years (and fried that brick on it.) So now use it for "less important" devices.. Thus the reason for my recc here. Hopefully it wasn't too out of line...I'm sure Steve has enough to do without moving things around.... I almost didn't post this but felt a bit of a warning was required .
  4. Heya Gary ! The wave do that here too ! I just got taller boots .....some of the guys even wear waders ! But they go in a lot deeper than me. I just wait for "minus" low tides.... A 10 to 12 foot tide here.
  5. Just now reading Ridge Runner's contest (I know , it's over!), I noticed some comments mentioned looking for one....... I live in my RV so inverters (and solar) are in my wheelhouse ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ! I am partial to the pure sine wave (PSW) type as the sensitive electronics like computers (or a Nox) , are often a bit "gun shy" around the modified sine wave (MSW) units. I just got a Renogy 700watt PSW inverter last summer and am very impressed with it. ANNNND My Nox seems to like it too. A bit more power than the prize unit but it will charge two detectors including headphones at the same time. with power to spare. ( A good thing.) (I won't mention my old inverter as it sucked slime water from the Black Lagoon .... OK, it released the "magic smoke" )
  6. RR Dannnnng , I'm too late ! I never met you so it's hard to guess how long 1 woman might put up with you. And you said 2 !!! (I was doomed from the beginning) even if I had been here . ) skuh kuh kuh kuh I did notice a bunch of replies mentioned looking for an inverter so I'll post a thread.......
  7. Well , I do ! Like I just posted. Just detecting stuff not auto repair...but now that you mention it,,,it might be a good idea ! My back isn't going to like it though....................skuh kuh kuh kuh
  8. One more thought here. If I go out to fix something with a wrench,,, should I take the one wrench I "think" I'll need or do I take a few or maybe the whole set ????????????????
  9. I just read the whole thread. Lots of interesting comments ! Some pretty funny and some practical... BUT HotSauce said he went from grams to pounds !!! Oh Waiter ! I'll have the same dish as him ! I'm a two of everything kinda guy myself... Only have one scoop though,,,but I have a shovel in the back next to that scoop even if I'm not carrying a detector... I usually hunt with a backpack on so one detector in there with the other extras and one hanging off my arm is pretty typical unless I'm gonna stay close to the vehicle. I'm not too crazy about leaving the extra one in the car at those beach parking lots though , my Nox may not be a "big gun" ,,I just think of it as an Uzzi ,,,small and light and will still git 'er done.
  10. PURRRRRRDY sight , right there ! Bet it was fun findin' !!!!!!!
  11. I look at the coils as tools . Each is better at something. For EX: How many sizes of Vise Grips do you have ? How many do you NEED ? Guess that's up to what you want to do.
  12. Way to go Madtuna ! A couple of ounces , you think ? I'd probably keep digging ....you're just gonna think "I might have left some other guy a massive payday !" while you're trying to go to asleep.
  13. Every one of those coins is an Equinox800 with 2 coils...... Immense good luck finding them first after so many years.... I wish him more good luck keeping them , or even some of them !
  14. March My honest impression is I don't think you'll sell much if any here. We only dig up fake gold hoping it isn't fake. But if you drop some on a beach ,,we will probably find it ! We typically find jewelry , not buy it you see. That's kinda the theme here....dontchyaknow , It's what we do. But if you'd like to make an offer on mn90403's recent find , please go ahead. All it needs is a fake clasp ! I think that buying our finds would be a great supply source , don't you ? Now , if you want to find some too ,,, may I direct you to the used equipment forum ? Thank you very much , I'm here all winter.
  15. Is that the best you can do ? skuh kuh kuh kuh (I used to work with an old union master electrician...he told me that every day !) Guess you did PDG ! That Turq is a monster ! Seen a lot of turq and silver rings in my travels , many native pieces look similar ? I think that's in that category.. Watched one being made ,,,the guy was using a Morgan for silver !
  16. Who cares what the whale looks like ,,,,if it drags in some depositors ! Skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh
  17. 18K is still gold , arrrrrrrrrr ! Well done and I'm sure you'll be findin' more.....
  18. Welcome aboard Those finds sound good from here. Go back and keep looking . May the force be with you.
  19. Sorry Charles I was hoping it was detecting an alien ! But Cyborg would have been more likely for sure ! Better luck next time. Maybe you still can use it to find a cyborg , WAIT ! Maybe we've ALL been replaced by Cyborgs in our sleep ??? Welcome aboard and hope you find some cool stuff. I've seen some amazing finds in your neck of the woods !
  20. welcome aboard ric44 That's a cool way to enjoy the hobby.
  21. Welcome aboard Ken. Have you found any meteorites yet ? That sounds really interesting.
  22. welcome to retirement bucketlist. and the forums too , but priorities go to the retirement part. !
