Been on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard out of Woods Hole once in a thunderstorm. They had plenty O' grog so we kept our sea legs. 🤣 I can imagine how it was in the winter. Over the shoulder sun is the best. Camera does the rest. 🙂

I'm going to post some "rural engineering" related to this eventually, there are some other options for keeping the coil going on the fly for DeepHC, going to test them when I get back from the beach. 🙂 There is a really good 3d printed one that attaches with 3M tape, sadly it was invented and made in Ukraine so it's unobtainium right now. 🤬 Despite claims of it being totally waterproof I can't imagine it would survive a deeper dive. Nor would any battery backup for that matter. 😀

I'm digging just about everything, sketchy or not. Ignoring most pull tabs because of the consistent numbers, sinkers are high tones and TID, so they all come out. The Equinox is better with them. The good stuff has a better "feel" from the tones, the Deus is very clever in this respect. I was hoping the varied crap I post would indicate I'm covering all ranges 🤣 Last year I got my wife an 18k gold ring that was a 1 on the Equinox. 😎 You have to dig a lot of foil to get a ring with that detector. I'm thinking the Deus will land me one too. For the most part the beach is very easy to dig, I use a composite trowel so I can pinpoint out the target. There are some spots where it's a bit hard but most of the original sand here is decomposed or ground coral.

Thank you. I used to do landscape and architecture photography until I got a studio job doing weddings. Now I just use my cell phone and the photos are ehhhh, but I get a good one now and then 🤗 I've always tried to give some visual "feel" to my posts, it's isn't all about the finds. 🙂

Went back to the same beach as yesterday to try out the D2. Walked the entire beach using Beach program with sensitivity at 97, Reactivity 1.5, and bottle cap reject at 3. Changed it to that from 0 after the first one. 😀 Nice path out to the beach, there was no wind and the mosquitoes were everywhere. This place is also famous for sand gnats that also are everywhere when the wind is calm. The wind and waves really eroded the beach yesterday, figured I might find stuff I missed with the Equinox, but I have to say my 600 with the 10x5 are one heckuva combo. I will give the Deus 2 a nod for depth, most of the coins I dug were 8" to foot down. However, I had already got most of the good stuff yesterday. I'm sure this place gets hit hard. Here's all I got, a couple of zipper pulls, one a Michael Kors gold plated pull (my wife told me how expensive those bags are), two nickels, two dimes. One dime was a 1967 and extremely deep. Also got one good Zincoln and a memorial, 32 cents, woohoo. 👍 I searched way up the beach to a point where I could see the lighthouse and found the hairpin. I think it's silverplate with CZs, but I'll test the stones. Tomorrow if the weather permits I'll go to the bigger North Beach where there should be a lot more stuff. Here's the junk, no fishermen to give my sinkers to. 🙄

Thanks for the heads up. Different sinkers in different places. 😁 We will see today, taking the Deus out there to see if I missed anything. The 9" supposedly has no appreciable loss of depth over the 11. Last year I hunted this beach with the 11 and did about the same. Nothing is overly deep.

Didn't get any sand in my eyes. 👍 I've had worse up in Hatteras. South Beach can be pretty rough here too. This is an eastern beach. There were some spots where there was nothing, others a lot of sand. My wife claimed the ring and sent me out again 😁 I don't think many know about this beach, it's hard to get to and there is little to no parking. It seemed pretty easy to me to find stuff, I loved it when I got a bunch of 20ish IDs and dug 3 rings, two were junk. I'm also kinda intrigued... A lot of people bash the Equinox regarding chains. This one was a clear signal, maybe a little broken, I pretty much knew it wasn't a pull tab. 😎 To be fair, it isn't all tiny links.

I've been using the 3d printed clamps like Phrunt, I like them a lot. 👍 Got mine on eBay. They make two different sizes for the shaft sections on the Equinox, and are fine on SteveG's CF shaft.

Nice! No hallmarks? At first glance it looks like a silver pendant with CZs, but the ID indicates otherwise. I hope it's much better than that. 🤔

At the beach! 🥳 Today was reasonably warm but got pretty rank despite the location. It was windless at 7AM, but the wind came up, 25 mph with gusts to 35. First photo is looking out toward the river and ocean, second is looking back inland. The sand was blowing, it was like being sandblasted. 😵 Got out twice today, my wife was tired from the long drive, and after what I found the first time she wanted me to go out again.😀 I think she just wanted to take a nap, the wind was cold despite the temperature being in the 70s. When I first got there the tide was going out, only about a 6' tide today, but it got pretty low. I hunted around until I found the coin line, and then found where jewelry was sinking, about knee deep to the high tide, maybe lower. here's the first run haul, 3 rings I found in one spot, a gold plated copper bracelet, a gold plated copper leaf earring, and .78 in clad. I was surprised to find the infinity ring was .925! My wife took that one 🙄 Here's the trash, not too bad and pretty much what I usually get in 3 hours with the Equinox and 10x5. The Matchbox car was about a foot down, gave me a 30/31. 😀 I found a few of those bullet shaped pieces of lead all in one area, 3 different sizes. I was using F2=0 so the bottle caps got past me. I dug some sinkers and gave them to a fisherman. Took some gratuitous Island pics between hunts, I had some stuff to do. Second hunt was late afternoon for two hours, the wind was blowing the sand even more. Lots of large ships going up and down the river made surf hunting out of the question because of the huge wakes, but they were fun to watch. 😀 Got .61 more in clad, and a really cool shark tooth earring that may be silver. It was throwing 15-20s and was about 10" down in the saturated sand. Took a long time to find it. Trash to finds was a little higher, I was much higher on the beach along the towel line. Found some more of those strange lead points. Going to take the Deus 2 out tomorrow to this place to see if I can find anything else. 🙂 This is mostly a fishing spot that the sun sets on, so locals spend the afternoons here. There was one other detectorist out there with I think a Garrett AT, but it didn't look like he found much. He didn't stay long. Long tale but a great start!

Wow Denny, that place is almost as rough as my brackish river. Silver coins might be somewhat preserved by a layer of black crud that forms on them, but you have to get it all off.🤬 Lottta chemical action going on there! Pennies and nickels here don't stand a chance, the IHP's come up looking like gold. Good on you for not giving much info. 👍 Beautiful standing, that's one of the coins I haven't dug yet.

I didn't see much difference, honestly. That's one of the reasons I switched back to the small numbers. 🙂 I didn't like using big numbers in Relic mode, as it requires me to look at the screen a lot. The larger numbers were harder for me to process. Don't know why.

There were complaints about the tones, that might be it. 🙂 Gary Blackwell said something about it in his video. So far I have seen no reason not to upgrade.

I don't have any problem seeing the screen. The large numbers to me are so large they're almost annoying. I do just fine with the original screen. The ideas posted by Steve and others were better, it almost seemed like they said: "Ok, you guys want big numbers, eh? We will give you big numbers" 😀 The issue for me and probably because I have an Equinox, is that the numbers do not stay on screen long enough. In Relic mode you have to watch the screen. It would be great to have a few milliseconds adjustment for the TID display. 🙂

Shotgun shells and buck balls here. 😀 If you want Tombacs and brass buttons you have to dig 'em. I also dig a lot of tacks. Managed to push past the newer shells with IB on the Equinox, but still dig all the old ones. 😵 With the Deus I'm back to square one.

I have 3/11/22. Do you have the ability to display large numbers? There is no changelog anywhere, so we don't have any idea what they fixed. Mine was assembled and updated before I picked it up, the RC, coil and WS6. The way to get to it is options→settings→profile. If you hold the top right button you should see a zoom screen, I think that's the fast path. Gary Blackwell talks about it in this video: he calls it the 0.7 release, but I think they did it in 3/11 for the USA.
