  1. I didn't know the Pro Find had discrimination! 😀 The Quest Xpointer doesn't have a turn off switch for disc. The Quest has about the same depth as the AT pointer, but definitely has a few problems. It's a great backup and help for me but I'm sticking with the Carrot or the MI-6 as my initial "finder". The Xpointer is very loud.
  2. I'm 6'1", and have to wear big shirts too. Also have long arms, my wife says they can wrap twice. 😀 👍 At first wearing a huge ring on my right hand (a wide tungsten I got on the beach) helped with trigger finger, but after I put the stop on all my troubles disappeared. I always wear thin Milwaukee or Craftsman dipped gloves, so I never experience any blistering. I have large hands. The biggest benefit was switching to the Coiltek 10x5 which I am using exclusively now. It makes the Equinox much lighter and has all the other benefits you see in discussions here. 🙂 Got a Deus 2 now, so bye bye all issues. I'm still going to use the Equinox too.
  3. Nice kettle point! Here's some info: https://ohiohistorycentral.org/w/Metal_Arrowheads
  4. Have you considered a printed hand stop for your Equinox? Got one of those and any issues I had with it went away. It was giving me some pretty rough trigger finger. 🙂
  5. Could have been the shop that insisted on putting it together for me too... "Where's this screw go?" 🤷‍♂️
  6. Apparently someone was watching a Gigmaster video and called it out. They saw the screw missing from the same spot mine was. Either some part of assembly was missed or they ran low on screws, everyone should look at their machine. I'll have to look in the box. 😁 The horror... 😨 I've got plenty of 242, red and blue. I tightened both pretty good! 😀 My ancient replacement is a long one, it will take a while.
  7. Seriously Rick, you had your day. I think the rest will be better, you definitely won this one. 🙂 Besides, I still can't thank you enough for selling me that 10x5. 👍 it put me on the map.
  8. Ya know, after I read this post I quickly thought "I could top that", I was going to post photos of kitchen garbage and write a tall tale 🤣 with lots of photos of course 😁
  9. Sure would, but would you do that? 🙂 I'd hate to see you get stuck with any.
  10. Odd that you find so many coins in this one spot, but great. 🙂 Any idea of the history? It's it a park, field, or old house? Nice, best coin find of the day. 👍
  11. It's off topic, but hey, it's your topic. 😀 Chase have me some good um... pointers... I wasn't able in some places to get sensitivity over 45, he told me to turn it on while on the ground. The only other thing is if you don't have it near the detector when you turn it on, it may not connect the first time. I've since been able to run it at 49. It could be the other problem is caused by Bluetooth on my cell phone, I don't know.
  12. Thus said NickeldNdimed... That's awesome 👍 Is it me, or did everyone have sort of a "blah" day today? I got nickels and dimes. 😵
  13. Haha 🤣 out of likes and laughs for today. 😁 I'm sure it will learn to roll over until it gets the printed bipod for the cuff. 😀 Then it will know how to "sit" and "stay". 🙄 It already knows "roll over" 😵 It also had the dreaded "missing screw" bug that I saw in a Gigmaster video this morning. 🤣 Luckily I have an old can full of bolts. A really old one. 🤣
  14. Amazon has what may be the original for $28. I watched the video, and think that the side field is too big. That's why I like the Quest, it focuses more towards the tip, and I can't stress the point more that it pulses a low tone for iron and a high one for non-ferrous. Also has whizzy green and red LEDs to make the distinction. 😀 For general use the Carrot is still a winner, and the MI-6 may well become a front runner now that I'm getting used to it.
  15. Sometimes that site makes me want to join, but fixed income dictates restraint. 😀
  16. An hour outside swinging a detector is much better than an hour inside doing nothing! 👍 Thanks for showing the reality for all of us. 🙂
  17. Cold, nasty windy day today. March still isn't over. 😵 I've been getting the RV and truck ready for a beach trip, but my wife wanted to rest a bit this afternoon, so she suggested I do some metal detecting. 😀 Happy wife, happy life. I decided to stick around and just hunt the yard for my tungsten ring that I have now lost for the third time, found it the last two times with my Equinox, it's a solid 12. It's really too big for my finger. It was only about a 3 hour hunt. Today I used the Deus 2, I originally went over my yard with my Ace 400, it's what got me into metal detecting. I poked around the front yard, only found some .223/5.56 shells from when a deputy friend of mine came over to zero. Also dug a .45 shell under one of my trees, and a few aluminum bits from when the house was built that sounded too good. I thought maybe I might have lost the ring in the driveway. I was surprised at how quiet the Deus is on gravel, the Equinox is pretty rough to use in a gravel driveway. It sounds off quite a bit. Managed to find two dimes, a nickel, and a penny in the gravel! Now I'm getting a sense of why others have found stuff in places they already detected, but I don't think I bothered to use the Equinox on the driveway. 😁 Didn't find the ring, so I went out in a field behind my house that was recently cleared. I've searched here before and dug nothing of interest, but was surprised. It's tough to swing a detector here, there is a lot of woody stubble left after the bush hog. I switched to Relic, as it will find large masses if held high off the ground. Instead I kept it at just above the stubble. Relic excels at beep/dig, there is only iron junk and the good stuff here, that's it. Here's the take: All modern coins and one 1700s Tombac button. I found a few of these Tombac buttons with the Ace which is what got me into this hobby. I've found a lot of them with the Equinox. There's something really cool about Tombacs, the waxy feel and knowing they are old as old can be in colonized America. With the Equinox you'll get a 4-9 with a bit of an iron tone, as usually the shanks were iron. On the Deus this was a solid 54 both ways, I was using Relic so the tone was of no use. Iron is 00 to 6. I dug no iron today except what I wanted to, I think I'm getting better at this. There were a few nails left in the driveway. I definitely like the Deus 2, I taught it to stand up today, going to try and teach it some more tricks. 🙄
  18. That is an interesting lock. Even moreso that it still works! Wonder how many numbers are in the combination. Heckuva chunk of silver. Must have been a fun day. 👍
  19. Got a link? Sounds interesting. I've been getting better with the XP MI-6, it's pretty darn good. 🙂
  20. Matching Barber and IHP, what could be better? Nice coins. Is that a 1918 buffalo? 👍
  21. Hey Dirtshark, Don't be afraid to create a new post with a great story like that! That could easily go in jewelry forum. 🙂 No need to use meet and greet. They had to throw me out of here a while back 🤣 You never know what will inspire the youngun's. 👍 Glad you found something. Looking forward to your future adventures. 🙂
  22. This forum separates the chaff from the wheat, my friend. 🙂 It's the best out there. 👍
  23. That is indeed a true software bug. 👍 Unfortunately with the Deus it is tempting to take the remote off and play with it, until it is fixed it's best to make sure you don't take it too far away, and to maintain the regimen of keeping everything charged. Not too much to ask for such an expensive detector... 🤔 "Doc, it hurts when I do this" "Well, don't do that!". 😀
  24. I looked at mine: Yep, one might perceive that as a crack. 😬 However, my guess is that it is an injection molding anomaly, merely some pigment. It magically disappears when photographed from the side, a real crack would not. The clue is in the shiny plastic. I cannot feel a "catch" with a fingernail or pin. 🤷‍♂️ I have no doubt some will blow up their units from the "bends" by not paying attention to which pressure plug is in use in and out of the water. I'll bet everyone has this little bit of pigmentation here, I wouldn't be so quick to judge it a massive flaw. 🙂
  25. Looks to me like someone isn't using the red plug, or left it in after diving 🙄
