What Is Expected In The Upcoming Update?

Well, IMO D2 is incomplete beta version, a long way to official 1.0

With new update expectations are high: "intelligence, experience, elegance, confidence..."

I have written them 3 times regarding specific issues. I got one very ambiguous response nearly 14 days after my email. The other two times there was no response. I can not agree. Nokta is doing quite a good job when communicating with customers. They are implementing user demanded functions for at least last six months. Dilek also communicated very clearly what is going to change in next update and when is expected release date. They are light years ahead of XP and Minelab in PR(and I'm not a big fan of Nokta).

Hi all, thanks for all you interesting comments and feedback.

I know the XP customer service policy is to reply to people as soon as possible, sorry if some are experiencing delays.

It may be worth remembering that your reseller is your first contact for general questions including warranty.

I know XP are getting a lot of e mails asking about the next update, they will not disclose when the next update will be or what features it will include until they are confident everything is working well. Then I guess the marketing guys will announce it on their socials.

I am always happy to answer your questions if I can.

Once again thanks to everyone this is a fantastic group and I am proud to be a part of.

All I can say guys is XP are listening and your patience is appreciated.

The X/Y Profile screen is already a fairly good 2D screen for one target.

I think this thread has put forth most of the issues with the D2, and I'm glad to see Gary drop in. I hope the update will address what we posited, and not make radical changes, or worse, negate everything with a D3.

On the positive side it's a killer where I hunt, my soil is "less" than mineralized, so everything is going to show. The only problem we have hunting here is excess moisture in the ground. It's probably why farms have done well here for almost 400 years now. 😀

Let's not forget that while the D2 finds metal as well as any other metal detector (I'm not kidding myself that it far exceeds any of them in any way), it does have unique features that make it the best for someone like me:

It is the lightest detector in the world

It is waterproof to an extreme degree over the best new VLF

It has powerful tweakable and comprehensive adjustments, but you should get used to the stock modes before changing things (RTFM)

There are many options to use the RC and WS6 control units - cases, wristbands, bags. Heck you can put them in your socks if you want

It has the capability of being a backup to itself, the WS6 Master is brilliant, if you bought the whole shebang you got 2 detectors, who does that?

All the newer headphones are water resistant

It has a decent set of coils, the 13" was a great addition

The aftermarket has at least caught up with shaft options and "doodads" that allow customization 

And most important, it is the lightest detector in the world. 😀 Did I mention that?

All this aside, I think the best thing about it is that it is not like the current lineup of VLFs - the M-core, the 900 and the 700, and the Legend. They're all great tools. If you have only one tool in your toolbox, you can't be too versatile.

It's interesting that it took all of a year for the bunch of us to really get used to it, I am encouraged that it may show some great potential in the long run.

From what I understand Nokta is great at talking with folks and it would seem to be the only one based on these forums. Minelab could be in the MD forum business just by the way they announce and then string folks along based on the sheer number of threads started.

My point about customer service is this. It's expensive to hire people who don't create or bring money in. Getting a free update out doesn't cost the end consumer anything but costs the team at XP a bunch which I understand. Unless I buy another coil from XP I have effectively ended (until something new comes out years later) my financial transactions with them. I'm glad they will eventually put out an update and I hope it increases my output but it costs me nothing to get it or wait for it. I'm like everyone else in that I want to see progress in the next version (separation in my soil) and a few more gold rings in the scoop.

I’m fairly happy with the current update.

2=silver quarters, slug unknown caliber, round cuff button, 5= clad quarters,1= buffalo, 1= merc, 1= 925 Thailand, 1= Indian, 2= wheat,4= memorial.

Silver Slayer fast and Silver Slayer deep HC. SS fast ran quite at 99 sens. Deep HC chatty at 93 sens. Both 2 reactivity. 13 x 11 coil.
