Waiting For New Detectors
El Dorado replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Personally, I don't buy a detector very often, but it sure is fun to watch all the hype. I was in a local mining shop this morning. A customer walked in and headed for the detector display. Then he asked why they did not have a new ATX for sale. His comment when he found out the dealer only sold White's was that the ATX is now the worlds best detector and put all the rest to shame. I asked him where he got his info from.. He said it was common knowledge across the internet and that he heard that the Minelab engineers were jumping ship and heading over to Garret. Steve, there is so much hype out there now it is crazy......Same guy told me that the ATX will hands down beat any Minelab or Whites on any nuggets. I asked him what some of his ATX finds were and he told me he did not have one nor had he ever even used one, or even a Minelab.......like I said there is just way to much hype out there, but sure is fun to watch and listen to. -

A Tale Of Gold, Greed, And Outlaws
El Dorado replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
As soon as it was put up for public sale, I purchased a pinch of gold pickers from the wreck. It now resides framed one wall in the house. The value of this tiny amount of gold has increased tenfold or more. I was also fortunate to have handled and photographed one of the largest and most beautiful nuggets recovered from the wreck....... -

We were in variable moderately warm to hot ground and the Ground Grab worked just fine. It ground balanced much better than the GB2 was able to do.

I recently purchased a new product and found that it works so well I thought I would share. For those of us that use a Minelab we all know how sensitive the coil wire to the box attachment is. There have been a number of attempts to solve this and most use the handle mount to add something that grabs the coil wire. None of those approaches solves the issue of shaft flex and will help but still allow some falseing. This new approach mounts directly to the control box and stops the coil wire from moving when the shaft flexes. I used it for a full day and had zero falseing on my 4500. Too bad Minelab does not put a much better connection on their machines, but this will work till they do. Bill Southern at Nuggetshooter.com sells them and they retail for $42.00.

A Breathtaking Specimen!
El Dorado replied to Gus In Idaho's topic in Rocks, Minerals, Gems & Geology
At the Tucson Gem And Mineral show I saw many crystal pieces for sale that did not even have weight mentioned, some could have only been a few grams at best and some maybe an oz, but many had prices of $10-20K! A company called Kristalle had many of them..... -
Nice, thanks for posting the pics

Gold Bug 2 Threshold Problem
El Dorado replied to Rick Watkins's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I think all the issues were with the knobs, I did not keep the paperwork from fisher. I do know for sure the ground balance adjustment knob had issues. It's 100% now and that is all that I cared about! Fisher service is great! -

Gold Bug 2 Threshold Problem
El Dorado replied to Rick Watkins's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I just sent mine back to Fisher for that and an issue with the GB knob. I don't know what they did, but it's fine now. It did not take that long for the to fix. -

Loads of fantastic info and really fast. Thanks for the feedback.... Looks like a set of Nugget Busters will be the choice.
