  1. I'm guessing something with copper content-Including the dime. But I would also guess Chris has specimens from all over the world and perhaps the universe so we're all likely to get supprised.
  2. Statistics presented by a manufacturer are best compared to a bikini. They can be very revealing but what they don't show is vital. Field testing by detectorists who have nothing to gain or loose by a good or bad review mean a lot more to me than a chart printed by a manufacturer. When the only detectable gold left on the planet is tiny nuggets in light to moderately mineralized soil and I could only have one detector I might consider a 2300 over a 5000.
  3. Do any of you tech folks know where I can get tubes for my Marconi wireless? Nobody seems to carry them any more.
  4. Ray; this is a stamped buckle. To get you a better photo I'll have to get a better photographer but I'll see what I can do.
  5. When it comes to the GPZ 7000 money is no object---because I have none.
  6. Everything except price and availability. But I'll be patient-- for a day or two.
  7. Paulito!!! I also found a buckle last week. Its was made by the Wm. Taussig Co. in about 1853. It is complete with both halves and adjusting dee and in excellent condition. I'm so danged clumsy on a computer that it takes me hours to load photos and move them around but I'll do it when I have time.
  8. Largo; Thanks for the link I don't (won't) have a television so I'm always looking for fascinating history. I heard a rumor that the GPZ 7000 has a built in sextant. Just finished reading Capt. cooks biography. Accurate chronometers were priceless.
  9. At one time I could time gold sales pretty well by just paying attention to what was occurring geopolitically and economically and using many of the same indicators as Mr. Melman in the ICMJ. But lately nothing is operating in a normal way financially. There should be flashing red lights and loud buzzers going off all over the place. I'm certainly not predicting an apocalyptic dooms day but I believe it to be prudent to have a bit of gold on hand. For air testing detectors.
  10. What!!! Members of this forum have BS detectors!! I'M DOOMED!! But I don't care. I'll be finding 40% more gold with my GPZ7000.
  11. I can't prove it but I always think damp ground improves target response. Take a chains saw with you and look up often.
  12. Scott; I glanced at the title of your post and thought you wanted something that alerted you to the arrival of your mother in law. Sorry. I should have taken the time to read it---Just kidding (as always). If you would like to try the 705 come by and grab it. It takes a bit of learning but the more I use it the better I like it.
  13. OK Steve, I'll respect your confidentiality agreements BUT if you don't come back with some good rumors-- I'll make some up.
  14. Sounds like a waste of a good fish net. Glad you had fun anyway!
  15. TOP SECRET--- D.P. Forum members only. Conspiracy Theory # 1784 Minelab announced the 7000 before it was ready because their spies knew about Whites V4.
  16. Ihav e nevr hd tto go bak an d reedoo somthin becus i gto in to big ofa hury. The last time I dredged I found considerably more gold in less time by slowing way down. Gee. Maybe detecting works the same way.
  17. Two very important geologic features to recognize while prospecting the Sierra Nevada are glacial activity and indications of ancient river channel. Time periods need to be more open to question/ debate as there are many non conforming discoveries that don't match assigned ages. In Plumas Co. there are Palm tree fossils and glacial scars almost within sight of each other. This ol' planet refuses to behave.
  18. Yup. That's me. way, way over on the lower right. Now please post a chart that illustrates what % of the detector users find what % of the detected gold and where they fall on the characteristics chart. I think you will find a bit of an incongruity. However, I am actively buying lottery tickets so that I'll have the funds on hand when the 7000 is made available.
  19. Minelab needs to have this thing tested by some one who is 1. A cynical person 2. Is not impressed with futuristic molded plastic 3. Finds fault with every thing and everyone (except himself) 4. Dislikes inanimate things with more brains than himself 5. Can break the horn off an anvil from careless and abusive use 6. Could care less about keeping up with the Joneses (except Mrs. Jones) 7. Is not the sharpest light bulb in the drawer I believe I would be perfect.
  20. I believe they are referring to 40% deeper in debt. We will see. The Minelab folks have about worn out the term "New Technology". Gldbrk; When you order yours have it drop shipped to me and I'll test it for you. Then again, if I found anything with it the GPS would give away my location. NUTS!
  21. Basic business accounting would show guilt or innocence. Why didn't he just stay put and open his account ledgers for investors to see? I have seen insignificant amounts of gold and unmined inferred gold destroy partnerships, family ties, and friendships. I am very thankfull that my mining associates tolerate all me as well as they do.
  22. AAARRRRR! I HAVE BEEN HUMBLED BY "REVERSE DISCRIMINATION".
  23. Mr. Goldbrick; Sir; Your post is pregnant with the implication that you question my honor, my voracity, my vast experience and innate skill. So today I have arranged for a demonstration to prove my claim of a P.I. detector with nearly "100% accurate discrimination". I have retained the services of Mr. ddmk6 to act as a disinterested third party judge and have requested of him to respond back to you via this forum, if so allowed by the administrator. I think your jealous because i am more handsome than you.
