  1. What's up with this Nvic???!!!! I'm confused. Isn't every prospecting trip SUPPOSED to be a grand adventure with hairsbreadth escapes, near misses, costly mistakes and life threatening situations? I must be doing something wrong. Or maybe i really am a fool. Thanks for the fun story.
  2. It will sure make those itsy bitsy teeny weeny nuggets stand out when you have to drop them on your coil to find them.
  3. Norvic- I'm not much of a "techie" but a laptop with maps, satellite photos, GPS, and theodolite would tempt me to become one.
  4. Don't give up on the Extreme. You may have to spring for a selection of coils to get the most out of it but that would be slightly cheaper than a 7000. I have heard more regrets from people that have parted with an extreme than any other detector.
  5. Never understood the addition of a GPS (and cost) to a detector. I would guess it gets used by about 10% of the detectorists and then just because it's there- not because it's needed. If I really need a GPS I'll use my trust worthy old Garmin. Been waiting for Garmin to build a GPS with a built in detector.
  6. Yes indeed! It's a reverse gravitational bi-polar magnetistic reactive algorithm. It makes the coil weightless. Heard this from a reliable source.
  7. Fantastic! I've seen a lady named Dee severely woop an old codger from this forum in nugget count. Let's hope she and Lisa never gang up.
  8. I haven't seen a depth performance improvement over the 5000 yet after nearly 100hrs with the Z. On small gold, spongy gold. wiry gold and quartz with specs of gold the Z is unquestionably the best but it's going to take me a long time to pay for it. Maybe Minelab would be willing to give me an "up to %40" refund. I'll be doing some deep bore holes and digging with the excavator this weekend so this will be a good test for the Z.
  9. YOU DUDES ARE CREEPIN' ME OUT!!! I QUIT!!!! For sale. $30,000 worth of detecting gear, 1 old beat up Jeep, 1 old beat up dog. $150 or will trade for ukulele lessons.
  10. Nice find Strick, but it's not your size or your style. Send it to El D and see what he can do with it.
  11. Well Goldbrick, now you've got me thinking. I often go detecting by myself in very remote places working around cliffs, rattle snakes, pissed off mountain lions, disgruntled bears, very steep slopes with loose boulders, old mine shafts and avalanche prone areas. But sometimes I go where it's really dangerous. With one of those gizmos- I could push my luck even more. The wife does worry about me when I am late getting home. Who else would bring the firewood in and take the garbage out?
  12. Is that a mouse I see by the curtain in the corner?
  13. Gee wiz Steve. You just raised the value of my old beat up Gold Bug by an exponential sum. Thanks. Maybe I'll send it to you for Christmas.
  14. There. You see, everything works sdrawkcab for me. I only spent a little time with the GB2 but it seemed to be a bit less frustrating. EL D- I still have the GB!. Just can't seem to part with it but your welcome to long term borrow it. It's old and been knocked around on the logging jobs so if it blows up don't worry. I am amazed at how tough it has been.
  15. The original Gold Bug needed to be rebalanced every three steps- the Gold Bug 2 every five steps. The son of a guns sure did find that little gold but I don't have the patients for it. I got my first gold bug to find iron in timber before I sent it to the mill. In that situation it worked perfectly. How is the I.H. dig going?
  16. Me. They both represent a lot of work and have teeth.
  17. Next time post your photo with sound so I can find the damned thing. Be careful.
  18. Deathray: Your correct-- that is way below my average size of nugget and it looks like one of several that I threw back yesterday for being undersize. ARE YOU NUTS!!!! That's one for anyone to be proud of.
  19. Paul; Goldbrick and I are trying to zero in on a pocket or two in this country. your welcome to come along but after we show you the spot----- we have to kill you, if you don't mind. Waiting to see how the M. racer does.
  20. Thanks Steve. This gives me some ideas to experiment with. It also goes well with my How To Speak Australian lessons.
  21. Gee wiz Paul you'll have to train your burro to use an ascendar system. I'll soon be headed into a claim that is in a canyon that is so deep that you have to look down twice to see the bottom. Wanna go?
  22. The solution to Paul's delima is to take one of each---and a burrow. The 7000 will NOT be my choice for ugly country exploration.
  23. There is no question that "Rick's Magic Mining Machine" Is certainly possible but there needs to be more competition in the upper end detector class to make it happen. The detector market is also miniscule compared to other computer-electronic markets that there is not much incentive to gear up to produce a quality gold detector for tight wad miners like me.
