  1. Seems like the GF 2K hit a lot of small targets, may have just been the location you were at. Be interesting to run both at the same sites and check targets with both.
  2. Shop a round and I’ll bet you can find a used Legend with 2 coils for under $500. Legend hands down the best of the 3 for what you are planning on using it for. Oh I see you made a wise decision. Go tear it up and post some finds now.
  3. I use both the Pulse Dive and the X pointer. Pulse Dive is rechargeable and has vibrate which can come in handy.
  4. Now that’s some hot rocks! Shame it didn’t fall over in Idaho, all we get is China’s crappy balloon going over.
  5. Recovered 2 rings for high school gal who just graduated on the Isle of Palms, SC. Her 6year old cousin picked up the towel and rings went flying in loose sand. Took hour and 15 minutes to get to her because of a over turned semi on the highway. Took 10 minutes to find her rings. $20 back then paid for my gas. Always a good feeling to return something of value to someone.
  6. The car key was a deal. Some of the cut keys can get very expensive.
  7. Nice looking chunk of gold. Have gotten a weight on it?
  8. Looks to me like a 6 year old glued them up. Hey wait a minute, maybe it was a 6 year old that glued those boards up.
  9. Found one on fee bay for $17.23. You’ll have to check and see if it looks like yours.
  10. The Heathkit, my first one that my brother and I built, lol. That’s going way back.
  11. I agree with you DSmith, smaller coils would be my choice as well. Wonderful if any after market coils will be offered if the sales really take off? I'd like a 6" concentric and or a 5x9-10 DD.
  12. Anyone seen or have one of these yet? https://www.questmetaldetectors.com/questv80hyperq?utm_campaign=547dedc1-f4e2-4f8f-9f8e-5e2549b75f73&utm_source=so&utm_medium=mail&cid=19b8626f-0a28-4e37-86ed-2b757acad444
  13. You even got the original manual with it, nice. Never used one but saw a couple of them that members in a metal detecting club around Charleston SC had. Let us know what you think.
  14. Thought I knew something about metal detectors in until I joined the site a few years ago and started reading Steve’s reviews. The knowledge I’ve learned from researching has saved me time and hard earned money. Now if I can figure out where these freakin yellow rocks are hiding maybe I can make some money. 🤠
  15. Granddaughter got hers for her 6 year birthday. Dad plays with as much as she does.
  16. I gave a MIDI hoard to my granddaughter for her birthday. Surprisingly nice strong little detector. Seems to have good separation air test depth good. Of course I wouldn’t suggest going nugget detecting with it, might be a bit of a let down, 😁
  17. That actually seems likes a good detector for someone who has an interest in trying out metal detecting without a big layout of cash, especially with the way prices have been going. Metal detecting is not for everyone, and for those that do find it’s for them, they can upgrade.
  18. Much of the technology is at its limit other than features and lighter weight detectors. Many of the modern detectors have been splitting hairs for the last few years or longer. I like the old saying “ you don’t know what you don’t know”. How do we know what we missed if we don’t know what we missed. There’s so many factors on any given day that can come into play with even the best detectors and operators. It’s really for me all about getting outside and having some fun seeing what comes out of the ground. Of course helping someone rescue lost jewelry is very rewarding.
  19. Locator brings up some good points about the detectors and coils. I've owned the MXT Pro, MX5, and the MX Sport. All were good detectors. The MX5 was as deep as the MX Sport and simpler to setup and operate. In my opinion both the Sport and MX5 had the MXT beat of depth and separation. The Sport is a very hot detector and many people myself included started out over driving the sensitivity which made it go crazy with ground noise. I've never ran the V3i but have a friend who loves his. There may be a little learning curve but after a few hours you should be fine. There are so many many V rated coils around that you'll have plenty of options on coils. I still have a SFF WES 5x10 v rated coil that I'm thinking of putting on the forum for sale. It's a killer coil, especially when using in a seeded hunt. The pattern width is narrow and hot spot is dead center of the coil, no need wasting time with a pin point. My only suggestion is see if there is any room on the price. Compare newer SMF detectors that you can purchase new or slightly used for the same money Nokta has a deal going on the Legend with 2 coils and you will have a warranty.
