  1. Hi Dewy, Good to hear ML are sending a fast replacement I am trying to follow your photo...the arm cuff is next to the shaft collar lock ....is that right ? happy huntin
  2. Hi, Sorry to hear. Have you tried doing a Factory Reset on the 800 before plugging it in ? ...just a thought. If no joy I would contact your dealer or Minelab Service Dept.
  3. Some people talking about disappearing target on Findmall forum Equinox page I hope its OK to refer to that and put a link...if not please feel free to delete this Steve ? Link deleted since Findmall Forum update broke all old links and another from Gary Draytons site http://hardcoretreasurehunting.blogspot.com/2015/08/disappearing-signals.html
  4. Hi, Nice ring, congrats.? Signal gone : I think a lot of beach and soil hunters have have this happen. I can put my hand up. I think they call it " disturbing the coil inductance" and sometimes also "the halo effect" Once a hole is dug in moist ground it upsets the way the detector reads the ground and the target disappears Basically, as you found - the target is still there and to keep digging deeper I remember reading a properly explained answer to this recently but I now cant find it...maybe Steve can help ? Negative numbers & Jumpy numbers (on good non ferrous targets) you often get right at the edge of the detectors depth capability Happy swinging ?
  5. Saltwater hunting will blister the standard shaft even when you rinse carefully with freshwater after each immersion. Those twist shaft locks grab and hold sand which is hard to remove and makes them difficult to use. Carbon fibre tube with say a Plugger shaft lock (or similar) solves these beach hunters woes.
  6. WOW....beautiful coin Do you know what it is ? is it a threepence or a sixpence ? Congrats on your first and may there be many more?
  7. Good depth shown by this tester with the little 5 & 6 inch coils Thank you ? to the author of this video
  8. Good answer Steve. I too think its important to test in All Metal or risk disc-ing little nuggets out My ground is heavily mineralised and my testing shows Gold 1 a bit more usable than Gold2
  9. This Eq800 testing video comes from Facebook. I understand it was filmed at a Minelab Turkey demonstration day I would like to know the settings https://www.facebook.com/groups/157635448164052/permalink/282204502373812/
  10. I have a mate with a glass top coffee table He has put many of memorable finds in there and it looks great.
  11. I have a little wall cabinet that I put a few relics etc in My valuable finds are locked away safely
  12. Things you could try if you havent already : reduce Sensitivity, Turn off your phone if you have it with you, Try a single frequency instead of Multi ( I have heard this can help with bad EMI), Try Tracking GB if mineralisation is bad, Noise Cancel every time you change a Mode. You might also try Gold mode or Park or Field mode at the beach. Does it do it everywhere ? eg in the Park or paddock too ? ..if so it may be a bad coil. Good luck, hope u get it sorted.?
  13. Man ! sorry to hear that...you are having a poor run. I hope you next control pod is sent to you fast and is a keeper At least 3years warranty is re-assuring for you ...but I have to say I have no issues at all with my Feb 2018 Eq800 which has been charged up many times.
  14. hi, For Parks I stopped using this a checking method as I found it unreliable Its something to do with the multifrequency I think + IMHO it does not work too well in trashy places (many of the parks I often hunt) I now prefer to use the Gordon Heritage 10khz checking method for ferrous ...it tells me to probe or walk away - its probably iron Relic hunting where I am allowed to dig a nice big hole I dig most good tones or I may be walking away from silver/gold next to iron.
  15. I think to be fair to Andersons, maybe ask them about making it more secure or resolving any unwanted movement ? I would be fairly sure that any reputable manufacturer would want to know about it. My home made carbon fiber shaft with Minelab lower shaft, single pin height adjustment + Plugger lower shaft lock has zero movement Good luck getting it sorted
  16. Its not a Excalibur (built to dive to great depths) but then its a multi purpose machine with a TID screen and a whole lot lighter than an Excalibur. Also lighter than a Sovereign or CTX Time will tell on how well it stands up but I see no reason why it wouldnt. A few leakages and wobbly shafts have popped up and are being fixed, replaced by Minelab I do a lot of in the water hunting and with a 3 year Warranty I am not at all worried.
  17. For these super trashy sites the 6inch coil will do very well. Field 2 is OK but I personally would not use Park1 in these areas Park2 is better suited to greater trash density Perhaps try the 10khz check on anything suspected as being iron, I find it works well for me. Happy hunting ☺️
  18. Wow, thats an awesome coin to find After 40years of tecting I maybe it was no fluke but persistance? ? Congratulations ?
  19. Gday Andy, If you are interested, take a look at the Aussie TIDs in Essential information - top of page 1
  20. Yes Chase they state Tracking may be useful in salt water ( for those that want a look - page 41 of the manual ). I am a believer and often use Tracking when wading in the ocean as it settles my machine down and minimises falsing I wish I could get in the water now but its freezing down here - maybe I will dig out the waders and forget about the wetsuit ☺️ for a while
  21. Hi from cold & wet Downunder ☺️, I recently picked up this little coil and did some air tests on the my back lawn. I was impressed with its depth on our standard $2 coin - about 9 or 10 inches But what impressed me more was what I was hoping for...its sensitivity to tiny native gold It picks up my smallest gold specimen - a wee little smear of thin gold on a tiny piece of rock (on the right in the pic) ...the 11" Coil could not hear this piece at all and I thought the 6"" wouldnt either so I was quite surprised Air Test : 6" coil gets 6-7 inches on a 0.8gram piece (in the perpex case in the pic) I get the clearest, most definite signal with both 6"" & 11""coils in Gold 1 I have had the Eq800 & its11" coil onto one of our local goldfields once and only managed buckshot, .22 bullets etc but this little guy seems like it has better depth on small stuff and should cope quite well with the mineralised goldfields. ? The photo has a US 1c , a Euro 10c and a 5c AUD happy hunting
