Awesome ! ? Thats a pretty amazing hunt...congrats ? Memorable too in finding the 2 parts of the ring so far apart
-
22 pounds is a good days fun , well done ?
-
Wow, there you go, coming from an Etrac and a CTX I find the tones crisp. I only find it flutey if the signal bounces from one TID tone range to next Each to there own and individual hearing is a subjective thing

Hi, Yeah I drilled the 6mm holes for the pin lock Mainly because I use mine in the surf a fair bit and all the extra drag may put strain on the joint without the pin locked in. If you are only land hunting you may be able to do without it but imagine if you bump a rock or stump really hard ...its easy enough to drill some adjustment holes. The other thing is that you do want the coil lined up at the right angle and the holes keep the shaft & coil locked at right angles. Good luck with your project ☺️

A good day out, well done both of you. Having had both a CTX and a 800 I know which one I prefer

Congrats on your finding a nice half 1959 was a good year

Yes dewcon, I have had the same. It does not seem to naturally drain out I noticed it when changing shafts from stock to carbon

Dont be too disheartened its gunna take a little while to learn a new tecta I went from an Etrac & CTX3030 and find the Nox very very different I dug everything for the first 2 hunts to learn the basics Try and find a quiet spot away from any EMI and enjoy the fresh air and the hunt

Good luck with your little project unox. Pluggers shaft locks work very well and are such a simple way to hold the rod without wobble If you know someone with a drill press - imho that would be best way to drill the holes at perfect right angles to the shaft.

Yep dewcon is spot on Another method is to replace to cam lock with a Pluggers shaft lock

Great result, well done indeed.

Equinox Coil Drag - Opinions / Consensus?
NSC replied to Chase Goldman's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
The coil is fine, fairly light. It collects a lot of sand though -
Surprised By The Amount Of Sand In The Coil Cover!
NSC replied to SittingElf's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Yes the sand gets in all the grooves and holes under the coil and compacts in there. I have taken to sticking duct tape or electrical tape over the holes in the bottom of the coil - then I put the coil cover back on. It does keep at lot of the sand out but needs renewing after every 1 or 2 water hunts. I may seal it permanently with something later on but I dont want to add too much weight -
Yes, Ok a few ...use a fine tooth hacksaw or dremel to cut. ...Use masking tape 360 degrees around the tube to be cut, mark the cut line on the tape and leave the tape there until cut is complete. ...use a very small drill bit as a pilot hole then progress to the size required ( i did not use masking tape for the holes) ...drill holes need to lined up at near exact right angles both ways if you want everything square and aligned down the shafts so take care when marking and measuring. A right angle square helped me. .... measure twice - drill / cut once (use you stock set as a guide ) ... woven carbon fiber holes / cuts may need a very fine (400grade) sandpaper on the edges Lastly, I hope this helps and have fun all you other backyard warriors

Multi adjustable...drill as many 6mm holes up the carbon shaft for any amount of adjustment that you need. I just sanded the holes a bit but may epoxy the egdes if fraying is an issue. I doubt it will be though.
-
Fill the shaft with water (it gets in via the adjustment holes) add some sand under the coil cover - then swing the standard shaft set up in thigh to waist high water and the lower end flexes / wobbles .

Hi guys, Dukester, Yes, the joining tube is 20mm pvc electrical conduit with lead hammered inside. It. fits really tightly so, yes friction held. Unox, yes ebay and carbonfiber.com.au - both were really quick and professional.
