  1. El Nino have you tried the Multi Kruzer with that nail scenario? Finding it very effective in picking between iron here using the 7x11 stock coil which is small by most standards but the machine has some impressive depth.
  2. What detectors is it compatible? Looks similar to the SEF coil with the expanded butterfly dd.
  3. Great idea, now I need to find a stud to test. Glad this has it's own topic now, funny how we stray off topic, probably how most of us hunt and not keep straight lines hahah
  4. F Pulse didn't find that at all? Did you try to move it really slow too? Curious because I have been looking at different PI pointers. I have 2 now, an old Whites Bullseye that the on button fell apart so I put in a toggle switch. I use that quite a bit still especially in coin shooting because you just turn it on and go without any calibration routine. The toggle switch also is just easier to flick on and off. It does't false out or react with any of my detectors. The Bullseye lacks depth so it isn't all that great for relic hunting where you have to poke through a larger hole or mound of dirt. My other pointer is the ML Pro-Find 35. The PF has very good depth, iron detection is handy when fishing for a find through rust to get the coin. What I hate about it is this is my 3rd one under warranty. It is incredibly unstable and constantly reacts with all my detectors except the AT Pro. It requires you to go through a calibration routine every time you start it and if you lay it down it you have to turn it off then turn it on. I got used to making a hole so I can stand the pointer in it as I dig.
  5. On baseball diamonds and tot lots with wood chips I push the top layer aside, get my find then push the top layer back so it doesn't have that dirt below showing. My digger makes a nice plug or flap and I use a piece of rubber roofing cut 12x12 as a dig mat to put any soil on rather than leave dirt on top of the grass. The rubber mat works good because it seems to not blow around easily and is waterproof. Use it to kneel on sometimes if the grass is wet.
  6. Is there a can line there? One of the first things I check for is can line and how old is the clad. Can line indicates the grounds had been re-done, often first 6" or so scraped away and new loam or sod rolled in. I also do a dig all in a few areas to find the cruddiest coins which are the ones that had been there the longest and find the newest of the bunch. This gives me an idea of about when. One of the local parks here has several ball fields. The oldest had been removed and replaced with another about 200 yards away. Found some IH's where the old one was. Other ones are constantly being re-done except one that somehow had an 1877 seated sitting about 2" down in the hard pack. There is a soccer field at one of the local schools that no one has seemed to have hit, Clad there is mid 70's, trash and can line 6-8" down. It used to be an old old farm at one time so with some slow searching I may find some deep coins but I can't do a dig all there as I could get tossed out. I try to leave no traces when hitting parks. The Volley Ball court might have some old sand there or it could have been done over many times. Doesn't sound like a huge area so dig all non iron might be the best choice. Curious if there is a trash line.
  7. Can always post a location and we can scout it out for you heheh.
  8. Regardless what exactly it came from the approximate date means a lot. Early 1900's means that the 1700's structure was occupied to at least that period. Explains the variations of flat nails and round nails. Further down the hill towards the lake is what I think used to be a field but so riddled with vines and undergrowth it is almost impossible to swing. The broach was found where the photo was taken, the seated was in the pines near the shore. I saw dig holes from some others that have been there but doubt they have the persistence I do as I see the trash they leave behind hehe.
  9. I'm gonna check out the kick stand one they got, trouble i run into is snagging up on stuff. I usually put the detector cuff across my leg when I squat down, got used to that when using my Tejon because the battery boxes are under the cuff and not waterproof. I have found coins that are younger in worse condition but the areas where near roadside where there was fertilizers for the grass as well as road salt. Best looking copper and copper alloy coins I have found were always in the woods. Pine forests the coins tend to be shallow, maple and oaks they tend to be deeper.
  10. Think your right on the broach, found similar larger hat pins with floral patterns, some copper one in silver. MMK takes some getting used to, machine runs hot and has a lot of power. I wish the Gen mode had same depth as 2 tone. One thing on the AT Max is the all metal mode has incredible depth and pretty good VDI if you work the machine on the slower side. I find the MMK easier to tame and still keep the performance up. I may cheat and take my Tejon through that area and see what I may have missed hehe.
  11. I like that stand, was looking at the kick stand one they sell. Good run you had with the large cent. Schools closed here so been going through one the soccer fields that no one has hit for some reason. Used to be a farm before 1959 but they had re-did it in the mid 70's. There is a can line around 6"-8" down so got a hunch might be some older stuff deeper. Virus keeps going think everyone will have their local parks and tot lots picked clean!
  12. Thanks for all that research. I hit the are again, this time one the old paths towards the foundations and found a small buckle in stamped copper with a couple of clovers on it and further towards the lake was nice Seated Liberty. Iron is so thick the MMK gets spikes. If I left iron disc to 0 the machine has an almost constant iron audio on! Never seen so much before.
  13. The Kruzer hits hard on targets too but I have been relying on the repeatable numbers too.
  14. Most junk like aluminum can slag, pull rings etc generate unstable vdi's. Gold rings always seem to have a nicer smoother roll to them, more subtle than trash and nickels too on the machines I have used. That similar on the Nox?
  15. If anyone is interested, here is how some of the targets listed in the chart's vdi #'s change based on frequency rather than the same set of vdi #'s across all freqencies. This is invoked by holding the - and + arrows at the same time. Some may find this handy when running in parks or high trash areas and need a wider spread on low conductors in the 19khz.
  16. If you don't plan on going underwater with the machine you might want to look at the Orx or Deus from XP. Big advantages to the XP machines is weight and no wires to snag up. If you don't need or want to fiddle with the controls you can also look at the Vanquish.
  17. It could be from a sewing machine, sounds much better than a potty seat hehe. I do like the odd finds like machine plates, old skeleton keys etc more than the coins too. Trade ya couple 2 cent's Paul for some of those gold Mofats you guys got :)
  18. Good research! I wish the brush wasn't so thick there, almost impossible to move through. I bet there is more there as I found a heap of old broken bottles.
  19. Was poking around some woods, found this 2 cent 1864 in some pretty heavy iron and this metal plate from something near a very old cellar hole. Think the foundation dates to the 1700's but was occupied through 1900's. Lots of iron, tin sheets and heavy brush so was tough to navigate. I can't seem to find anything about the company. Says Charles A. Miller Co. Maybe from a folding chair or something??
  20. Awesome run! Not sure if this helps or not, I'm still learning the tones here. I went back to SP mode so the numbers have proper bias based off the frequency. 14kzh has been working good for me in the woods but occasionally if I hit a high trash area I will switch to 19khz and get more of a spread on the aluminum. Much of my woods hunting I been using 2 tone with iron disk up to 15 depending if I get a lot of chatter or not. I try to run the disc as low as possible. I also keep deep mode at 0 disc with gain at 99. Sounds crazy but i use that for quick iron check if I run into contaminated ground. I can tell if there is another object bit better and hear the iron around it. Sometimes you get a piece of flat iron like an ox shoe that has a good iron halo that can show up as a good target if you have iron tuned out too much. Yes GB you can change the tones and tone breaks on the Kruzer. I just leave them at default. Quick rundown on the settings Gen is all metal (tends to lack depth and works like vco pinpoint on a Tesoro) 2 tone is iron audio + vco for everything else where pitch is louder as objects are bigger and/or shallower. Runs very deep. 3 tone runs shallow, has iron, mid and high 4 tone has an additional split on the low conductors iron, low, low mid, high, also runs deep like 2 tone. Beach Deep mode, actually runs similar to 2 tone but maybe an inch or so deeper at best. Seems to give more solid vdi on fringe targets. Lastly all modes except Gen have EUD option/toggle so get a VDI off a fringe target. I think it just ranges the vdi a bit deeper. So far I haven't really found it super necessary as the objects all been pretty much in range.
  21. Welcome to the forums. I used mostly the Tesoro Tejon and an AT Pro for bad weather and freshwater hunting. I recently got a Makro Multi Kruzer to replace my AT Pro as the AT is showing it's age. I chose the MMK because the depth you can achieve with such a small coil. It will hit depths close to a 17" coil on the AT Pro and is only 7". This is proving to be very effective for much of my coin and relic hunting in wooded areas. I just snagged a 2 cent dated 1864 in some seriously iron infested ground. My other machines struggle with that type of hunting because poking around brush and under growth with a wide coil is difficult if not impossible. There are a slew of coils for the Kruzer including concentrics. Some reason Minelabs doesn't offer a concentric coils for their Nox's. If your coin shooting in parks where there are steel bottle caps then the concentric coil on the Kruzer would do very well because the caps will run in the iron range. One of the cool features of the Kruzer is you can use the VDI in SP mode that will have ID #'s with the bias on the frequency rather than same linear number range across all frequencies. This is really good for the 19khz setting as you expand the range on the low and mid conductors ie gold and jewelry and have better separation between them and much of the trash like can slaw pull tabs, square tabs.
  22. The carrot may react in certain frequencies in certain modes. The ProFind reacts in only 14khz and in the high depth modes: 2 tone, 4 tone and deep mode. Those modes push the machine and it is more susceptible to emi. The old Bullseye doesn't affect the MMK in any of the modes, just lucky on that. Post the finds you got.
