  1. Come Easter time, it will be an absolute madhouse out there.....
  2. 100% correct Reg, I was thinking Elaine or Gordon as the possible locales but now a certain well-known Ballarat identity has 'confirmed' that it was near Linton, so the original 'source' via the local Minelab dealer confused East and West lol.
  3. Found East of Ballarat on private property. The finder was relying on the screen target ID to dig or not. It broke apart when he dug it up.....only a foot deep.
  4. Wasn't aware that there was any dispute lol I've heard a few ppl in the past confuse the FAA myth with the power/frequency guidelines. I'm sure some of this ensued from the days of Coiltek's early work when John Kah played with various coils and 'devices' and it 'disrupted' air traffic control and radio at the nearby airport.
  5. There ARE power and frequency guidelines for transmitting devices in most western countries and if a product is to be sold within those countries, these limits MUST be adhered to. I sincerely do think that a detector that uses BiPolar PI tech (GPZ) with the right coding, to enable deep detection and along with Geosense to accurately combat mineralization is entirely within reach of Codan/ML......without breaking any current power/frequency rules. The code dynamics to run a pulse-train for longer pulses with higher power and the necessary receive timing is already a well known concept. As with everything Minelab, they will only release said product when sales of the previous model is decayed and available stock of said model is low.
  6. Western headwaters of the Palmer River. JP's stomping ground.....thats all Im gonna say....
  7. Part 2! It keeps coming..... Queensland Gold part 2
  8. I had an occasion where on a well-known big nugget patch at Bendigo back in the late 90's, I got a soft Ch1 signal and I got instantly excited. I knew it was deep...... I swapped my 11" mono on the SD2200 to the old stock 11"DD once I got down a foot or so just to see if discrim knocked it out. Nope, it was still 'boinging' away and getting louder. I widened the hole until I was 2ft down and had half a wheelbarrow load of dirt around the hole. The ground got damned hard and I was sweating profusely and puffing like a busted train....I remembered my backup Tesoro ElDorado and pry-bar in the 4x4 and walked the 15 minutes back to retrieve them so I could properly use 'REAL' discrim to determine if it was still worth digging any further. I was very happy to hear the signal still zapping away after dialing in the max iron setting on the Tesoro. With the aid of the pry bar, I got 2.5 ft down and hit a soft patch of dirt, right in the middle of my hole...my heart sank, it was disturbed soil. A further inch or two and out popped a huge copper spoon. I'm sure the nearest seismometer would've registered at least 3 or 4 on the Richter scale after my tirade of abuse at the gold gods. After back-filling the hole, I drove home..... Just because you've got iron discrimination of ANY sort, doesn't mean ALL your big, deep signals are gonna be gold.......
  9. This is why Kiwi's move to Australia 😁
  10. I'd like to see a much smaller range of gold targets under the same test conditions....very interesting. The audio reminds me of the early Foster designs....very retro, luv it!
  11. Use the Chondrites you have found to do a iron disc check. The Ni-Fe rich Chondrites could allow this setting to be used. Aside from that, try the mineralization filter at 'High' to see if your Chondrites still ping good enuff. Alter your gain to 5-6 as the 10 setting is waaaay too high. I never found anywhere that could provide calm audio at 10. The 10" coil is ideal for open country as you need the coverage.
  12. Im at 7oz with the 6000 now and although its a great machine, capable of finding gold on old ground quite easily, I miss the user-variability of the earlier GPX's. I hate the lack of threshold control and manual frequency tuning mostly.... The 6000 is a beginner friendly (or oriented) machine and absolutely needs aftermarket coils to get the full experience. The Axiom is slightly less sensitive but has all the variability that professional or serious operators demand.
  13. I also think that the 12x7 is more sensitive than the stock 11 mono. Depth on varying size targets is yet to be determined but its within the same 'ballpark' and Im sure that the decreased noise of the NF coil will improve depth significantly as well
  14. This is nuthin compared to various African countries.....there the extortion occurs with guns. If anyone has seen the Libyan missile purchase scene in the movie '13 hours' , you'll get the gist..... 2 friends working in Ghana and Sierra Leone that I know have had some serious stories to tell...
  15. Gold has been found in the region, notably in the Tanami desert where a couple million ounces has been mined and local Aboriginal people have recovered gold in the West Petermann and Musgrave ranges to a small degree. But essentially, Lassetter was a well known bullsh*tter who believed his own crap in the end. If a deposit was there of that size, it woulda been found a loooong time ago.
  16. Think you posted the wrong link Geof, nuthin there about Lassetters reef......
  17. Its a legal waiver against personal liability. If you injure yourself, the company isn't liable. The form also identifies you, your vehicle etc
  18. Ah, you're talking about access to leases, not the lease itself. St Barbara Mines in Leonora allows access by signing a waiver....that gives you big areas around that town. Some other company's may do similar around Laverton. Talk to Tony N Lisa at Goldtalk Leonora, they'll put you in the right direction. Cheaper than getting drunk in a pub and hearing lotsa sh*t from idiots.
  19. Hey Darren, I see Pauly has had some fun (and records) on your claims. He seemed to bounce back from Covid pretty well when he found that big nugget lol Did you let him keep it all or did he share it 50/50???
  20. Buying a lease is a long term investment and you seriously gotta know what you're doing. Some unscrupulous people will sell leases with short expiry times or worked out ground, often without any equipment. Leave that sh*t alone unless you've been 'in the game' for many years. Stick to 40E's and pending ground and be prepared to travel to outer areas to gain access to better ground.
  21. The 'Telegraph' is a subscription read.....always a waste of time unfortunately. The actual new laws proposed are here on the UK Govt website: UK Govt Metal Detecting laws
  22. Nah it got a wipe down just for the pic.....otherwise it woulda looked crap. Lotta dust around ATM. Dry as a Camels armpit....
  23. My shield idea works but only slightly. Its making the EMI from powerlines less of a nuisance but I suspect a total shield with a ground is the only thing that will make a major difference. I'll get around to that soonish.... But in the meantime, I've been 'harvesting' for a couple afternoons on old diggings for 4 grams of tiny stuff. The little Goldhawk certainly is a terrific coil for this task.
  24. Its one thing to trial and adjust audio equipment and settings, but to ACTUALLY OBTAIN those deep, whisper signals that everyone else is missing with the GPZ, you need the Russistani X-Coil large CC coils. Anything bigger than the 15" is gonna help, big time. The 22" seems to be the best as the center receive loom is by far the largest. You'll have to adjust your swing overlap and settings (trial and error) but thats the best advice I know of.....
