As had been said many times, competition is good! Even the threat of a new detector from a competitor helps bring the prices down! I'm really rooting for Garrett to come through on this! We will see!👍👍

Just wanted to add to the "would like to see" list for the new detector! Adjustable audio; or selectable audio! Knowing how everyone has different "likes" of different detectors audio! I really enjoyed the Pro Audio on the AT Pro, and wished that they had used that in the Apex, or could have somehow added that via a software update! And as mentioned, waterproofness like the AT Pro, and I'd like it to do well at the surf line (unlike the AT Pro), and not get drowned by a rouge wave!🍀👍👍

Also use mine all the time on the beach, and everywhere else! Reduces my target location time, and helps me not to damage my finds by digging too close! Pinpointing with the coil is a great skill to have, but not always as practical or as speedy, depending on conditions, and obstacles! And just to add to what you said, i use my scoop in another way at the beach probably 90% of the time, besides sifting dry sand, or sifting in the water! I scoop, and kick the sand out on the beach, sweep a foot to spread, and if the target is not visible, than i pinpoint! It all happens very quickly, so I can move on searching! Also save's my arm from lifting up to sift repeatedly! It's nothing unique, as I've seen many do the same! 🍀👍👍 PS, If you get one, always have it on a bungee, or it will inevitably belong to someone else! Saved mine on numerous occasions!👍

Those battery covers are tricky; an unforseen design flaw! Learning from others experiences, I make it a habit of putting a scotch tape piece with a finger tab, to keep the cover in place, and be able to remove it and battery easily! Just remembered💡, a guy on Ebay was selling some he made on a printer! As I recall, the colors didn't match perfectly, but at least you would have a cover! I will look for it again, and post if I find!!🍀👍👍

My 800 also does fine on the small bits, but I haven't got any that fine yet!!🏆Like you said, more of a challenge to get, and keep in the scoop! Pretty much solved that problem by not sifting much in my technique, as many do, but kick and spread up the beach, and pinpoint! My power switch recently bit the dust on my 800, so I will have to pay for a new Pod, as it's out of warranty! But worth the effort! Keep up the good work!🍀👍👍

Also, they have since came out with the 700, 900, and Manticore! If you really like the machine as is, but want to try another ML, those are your current options! But I don't think those would be much of an improvement for you, seeing that you are in Europe! A Deus 2 might be a consideration, if you decide to shop for an upgrade, as those are doing very well there! As an added note, you can also rollback to your current verson, if you don't like the update! I have had no issues with the last update!🍀👍👍

Welcome Tyler, That's alot of good info to digest, and you should get lots of help here, but it may take a bit of back and forth! Plenty here who use, or have used all your detectors and coils, so you are in a good place for specific "detector for location/target" advise!! How long have you been detecting? And what detector(s) are you most proficient with in your opinion? I did see you are primarily a relic hunter! Very lucky location wise, as several others here do well with relics too, in the area! But even more so, if you can hunt for natural gold there too! Good luck!🍀👍👍

That's one of the great strengths for Garrett, to me! While they don't necessarily need the hobby division, it is what the core of the business was initially with Charles, and I'm sure will be kept around, hopefully for a long time!!👍

Welcome to the forum "D", A bit more history on the house would be helpful! Like year built, style, features like a usable attic, basement, large crawl spaces, old solid wood doors, brickwork etc! But I'd say yes on saving your money on buying another detector for indoors! Use the 600 to thoroughly check the yard numerous times and directions! The larger the object, the deeper your detector may pick it up, within its limits! Mason jars, and coffee cans were a few of the containers to bury valuables in! But many people were very creative in hiding their items; especially indoors! If any old furniture came with the house, sometimes they will have a hidden drawer or space to conceal items! Other than that, the sky is the limit for fixed objects of, or in the house! Spend a little time inside and visualize where things might be safe, but accessible with a bit of effort on the part of the owner! Most people that hid items, want to have access to them when needed in an emergency; financial or otherwise! They won't want to tear down a wall, etc, if they ran short one month to pay the bills, or there was a house/wild fire! A few examples would be a short piece of floorboard, or moulding, that is held on with a single nail or screw, or just well fitted to secure, but still be accessible to add or subtract from! Now hoarders are a different mindset onto themselves, and all bets, or common sense are off! Good hunting, and be careful poking your hands in dark and dusty places! Some critter my not appreciate that!🍀👍👍

Welcome Grumpy! Don't get discouraged with the 5000! Plenty of people on here to set you up right! Feel free to ask plenty of questions, but many can be found on past posts! But like any detector, especially PI's, it's gonna take a bit to get the hang of! Keep at it!🍀👍👍

Most of us don't have the skills, or desire to modify coils! Especially if under warranty and/or waterproof! But yeah, I heard about that too! Point is we shouldn't have to modify anything these days, except for an occasional software download, maybe a shaft change, etc.. ML could have altered their coil design for the Nox line, or offered to give some software updates to the Nox if customers were adamant about something! At least while under warranty, if not for as long as an owner had one! One thing that always bugged me was the low volume with headphones! Not near loud enough at the beach, especially low tones! (Could be my hearing also) I say make all your detectors loud, and let the customer be able to adjust as needed! Maybe they fixed that on the 7 and 9 hundred; don't know! But it could have been done on the 6 and 8 also via an update!👍👍

Because with most any other detector company, that assumption would be generally correct, and make sense! Not so with ML and their chipped coils! At least they figured that out for the 700 and 900, so I will give them some credit! 👍👍

Rvpopeye, Just come to Florida already! You will never have to wait to detect, or dig through ice again! The only melting that will happen here, is you disappearing into a pool of sweat, digging through all the feet of renurishment sand they are putting on the beaches; again!! Guaranteed to find the same kinds of targets too! Btw, spring has sprung here; shocker!!🥵⛱️
