Thank's Steveπ, Understood! I was the last post one that thread, so thought I'd start a new one that wasn't buried, as there were no more responses!!πππ

Mine actually got here today! So I should be set for winter beach season to try it out; if we get a winter!π€ Got a bigger coil for my TDI, and a backhoe to follow me around!ππππ

Some of the many variations available; this beind a few of the more common! If we could turn lead to gold....πππ

Still and all, a great hunt!π But I think it's a sign of the times with gold, and good jewelry in general! Like coins in some ways, there just not being replenished like it used to be!πππ

Hello all, Just saw these on Ebay! But haven't seen anywhere else yet! Just thought I'd pass the info along, as I haven't seen Doc post about them recently, unless I missed it!! They are a new addition to his past offerings!πππ

Rubber Tips For Pinpointers
Joe D. replied to Bill (S. CA)'s topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Regardless of the old days, the pinpointer; and associated issues, are here to stay! A little wear and tear is no biggie, and easily delt with! And used, or new one's are easily had, if a replacement is needed!!πππ -
Rubber Tips For Pinpointers
Joe D. replied to Bill (S. CA)'s topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Thanks for putting that link up Pimento!π Under your post back than, is mine! And this is the same pinpointer still going strong! Just snapped this pic!! Same coating, newer tip cover, and newer bungee, and hundreds, if not thousands more times used!πππ -
Rubber Tips For Pinpointers
Joe D. replied to Bill (S. CA)'s topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Have always had either/or a tip on, or a dip in Plasticoatβ’οΈ! Both inexpensive insurance, and easy to remove! The thickness is nominal, so it shouldn't affect sensitivity at all! Hasn't on mine! Tips cheap on Ebay! And also a lanyard/bungee is cheap insurance for loss of pinpointers! Can't tell you how many times it's saved mine from loss, other than many!πππ -
My Mini Super MDT (minelab Diving Tool)
Joe D. replied to Airtemisa's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Great ingenuity, and modding! ππ Something I may suggest (though Unsolicitedπ) to help your design, is a 90Β° elbow for the coil connection! Gotta be out there somewhere by now! Maybe Tony Eisenhower knows, or can make?π€ I'm guessing that the coil so close to the pod isn't causing any issues, as the detector is nullifying it upon startup?? One other question I have, is can the pod easily convert back to regular shaft use, and configuration? Looks like it does, but had to ask! I can see a few old "land" Noxes being converted to this soon for kneeling nugget duty!!π Great job!πππ -
More Rings Than Coins On This Beach Hunt
Joe D. replied to Compass's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Same here, also missed!π΅ Great job, and luck on those finds Compass! Gold rings have become sparse the last several years, with all the cheaper options available, and the gold wearers passing on!!πππ -
Snakes, Thorns And Other Causes For Concern
Joe D. replied to Rad Rocks's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Pretty much everything is run through the Risk/Reward filter first! There's risk in every thing, but you gotta live your life! And common sense in the application of the above, will generally keep you well!! That being said, here's my brief list of possible threats, biggest to smallest! And it is intentionally not location dependent ! Some in order may change, which may be individual/location dependent !! JMO #1 Harmful Humans #2 Weather related events #3 Wildlife #4 Any possible health issues #5 Legality ππππ -
Gerry, Sounds to me like, for whatever reasonπ€,your gold hunting was secondary; at best!? Not sure why I got that impression!!ππππ

This is where it cracked! Not one of the spots I had heard of previously, but yeah, something to watch out for!!πππ

Well Compass, I may be doing a repeat of your story; minus the screwing on the screws! (Thanks for the infoπ)! Had the Nox out this evening for a little sunset beach detect; finished, rinsed off in the local barely running shower there(as always), and headed home! As I'm bringing the detector into my house, it suddenly turns itself on, and won't shut off!π΅ Crap!! Eventually it "let" me shut it off, but than no more on! Took the pod off to examine, and opened up the battery compartment, and a bit of water!! Double crap!! Upon examination, there is a crack on the front face of the handle, under the rubber coating, running from the shaft interface, up the molding seam, past the "O ring sealedπ" compartment! Wonderful!!π© Well, nothing lasts forever, especially a Nox 800! So, "IF" I decide to replace it, this will be my 3rd pod!!π‘ and yes, it's now out of warranty!! Strongly considering letting dead Nox's lie, as I have older and better(+-) detectors to use, that don't repeatedly fail me! (Also had to replace two 11" coils previously; Coil Ears!π€¬) Already had basically decided not to give ML another penny anyway, so I guess this is a fitting end! Think I will give it a Viking send-off in the firepitπ₯, first "cool" weather we get!! It's at least earned that!!ππ΅ And part-out the rest on Ebay! Wishing you much luckπππ and finds, with your new pod!!ππ

Beach Hunt 2023 Has Started
Joe D. replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I'm just in it for the artistic finds displays!!ππππ -
Little late on this post, but I have drilled drain holes in all my lower shafts, If not there already! Especially useful on land/water transition detecting at the beach, as sand/water always find its way into the bottom of the lower shaft and adds weight, if for no other reason!! When I rinse out at the beach shower through an upper shaft hole, the water flushes everything out of the drain hole!! I also removed the top shaft caps on my land/beach detectors, and have hose adapters for a counter weight, if needed! I can rinse the whole shaft inside, from top to bottom here also!! Twistlocks, of course, still take a bit more maintenance, when I get home, so they don't lock up from sand salt, and need lubrication to stay operational!!πππ

A Swing And A Home Run, First Ring Retrieval
Joe D. replied to F350Platinum's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Another happy "customer"!ππ The "luck"π was in approaching the right person to find it! You were "placed"π at the right time to help her out! May "rewards"π in whatever form, find you!ππππ -
You look like you do some nice work Jim! Those are cool! May have to get some eventually!π€ Have a safe trip!! Hope there's detecting involved!!πππ

Hello, Don't know if this will help, but I saved this Ebay listing in case I wanted it done to one of my TDI SL's! I have been using one on the beaches that had some mods done! Just did a photo grab, so not clickable! Seller explains about what he can make!πππ

I think you will be back on here pronto, as you suffer the same "ilness" as the rest of us; that being the "gold" bug!! Doesn't matter what form it takes, all I know is, when I'm not doing it, I'm constantly reading what others are doing and finding, and of course researching! Seems to be way more than I actually get to do it!π Gods speed, and best wishes for a speedy recovery, and many more "golden" years!!ππππ

Good on you!π Another great return, and some decent finds! Can't ask for a much better day, other than gold and diamonds, and a bit cooler temps! πππ

Fun But Hot Day At 2 Beaches
Joe D. replied to F350Platinum's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I've "heard" rumors of a guy detecting that beach with a foil "Sun"bruaro! Pretty sure it's F350! The reflection blinds satellites, and repels trash targets!! Next he's gonna try a "jiffypop" hat!! Nice haul man!!π Glad "your" beach goers weren't as cheap as mine!! πππ- 22 replies
