  1. That 1907 English Penny may very well have been brought back as a souvenir by a returning WW1 soldier. Perhaps the landowner's Grandfather? Each item found has a story.
  2. That's pretty country around there.
  3. If the little lettered tag you found is made of Copper based metal it might be a printing plate for an old newspaper advertisement. I have found some before. Pretty neat.
  4. Welcome. You have joined a nice bunch of folks here.
  5. We found how much we enjoy tis forum. I hope Steve found some treasure on his trip like peace & quiet and a big nugget of serenity.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I am looking forward to learning this new machine/tech. How do you set up for the sandy ground and/or nails? I have some sugar sand sites too, most with a good bit of small iron & nails.
  7. Have you had a chance to hunt that Red dirt some more? What is the GB & what settings have you found to work well. Any Iron to deal with? I have a MDT 8000 that should be here tomorrow to run in my East Texas Red dirt sites.
  8. I'm also glad the forum is back up. I missed reading the posts more than I thought I would.
  9. Thanks for the travelogue and finds display. I bet the best part was meeting & enjoying the other people. It is also nice to see that other people hunt my kind of sites where a coin is a special find along with lots of interesting "junk", most of which I happily keep!
  10. Very good to know. Thanks for the explanation.
  11. Does this instability from not running any applied Disc effect all VLF platforms or is it unique to XP? Same question regarding the down averaging caused by nearby ferrous.
  12. Seems like you are both working well together.
  13. The Garrett CX line were top of the line in their day, I will always keep my CXII for using the 2 Box Bloodhound to hunt bottle dumps. The static All Metal mode on them is still quite deep even compared to modern detectors. The Motion Discriminate is no match for what is available today but still works fine for modest depth & trash levels, Nice 2 tone audio & split disc settings. A little heavy but balances well. NEL makes a DD coil that is compatible. I may order one some day for testing. Over all a fun detector in the proper site they will still find treasure.
  14. I have MS 2's for back ups for both my wireless detectors. They sound very good. I read some where they use 32-34 ohm speakers.
  15. I know on the AT Max the proportional audio is best at max volume(8) on the detector & adjust the separate headphone volume to what is wanted. And yes, NM should have a volume control on the wireless headphones. What am I missing having to keep the detector volume below 3?
  16. I too would like to see Concentric coils available for Garrett's new Multiflex.
  17. If you will experiment with the other Modes with modest Gain settings(50-70) I think you will find the detector will run stable AND have surprising depth & target resolution. Each mode IS different in how it handles EMI, mineralization, & Iron falsing. When you add to this the selection of Frequency & coil choices it is a very capable detector in a wide range of scenarios.
  18. Sometime after NM releases their Flagship SMF/SSF detector I think we will see their rejoinder to the Vanquish & Ace Apex lines.
  19. I too think we will be surprised at NM's approach and application of SMF on their new detector. I feel they are following their own vision but also drawing on what has come before, taking the best aspects & melding it to that vision. I think they are taking their time to get it right. I also think the final product will be much more than they started out with on the drawing board. This is based on current performance & a past history of being able to adapt to consumer suggestions quickly. They also do not seem to be boxed in on their thinking & product vision. Young & hungry can cover a lot of ground. I am also hoping some of the ideas & improvements will transfer over to the Anfibio line as updates.
  20. I have not run a Deus. I do know how to set up and hunt heavy iron sites in both low mineral & high mineral ground, moist & dry conditions with the Anfibio Multi. It does extremely well for me. You do have to be willing to dig the signals that are less than perfect. This is relic hunting & I want anything that is not a nail or small piece of Zinc Mason jar seal. Coil, frequency & mode selection are important considerations based on site conditions.
  21. I agree. Figuring out a find and the site is a lot of the fun.
