BTW..kinda good your not a relic hunter since your in my neck of the woods now, lol. Just kidding of course. -

No apologies necessary mox! I wasn't mad, and I know how I came off....but I have had hassles there and elsewhere....like I said, MY opinion only, but asking rangers, park personnel, city clerks etc if you CAN do something, most often gets you a no. Best to educate yourself in other ways. BTW,I gave you some good advice...if you plan on hitting ARA often, join the goldhounds.
-
Dude, just read your whole (long) post again...Am really not trying to be a dick, and I understand you just want to not get in trouble, BUT think about this....Some rookie, environmental greenie liberal ranger just got asked if someone can dig for gold and detect...now they see me, detecting, digging and I have some old relics and now have a big fat hassle. See where Im coming from? Coming here to ask questions is the right move. Good luck on your quest.

Don Robinson, founder of the goldhounds, has done alot to keep A.R.A open to us and to be able to pan, sluice, snipe and detect. This is my opinion only, but find the answers yourself before you go...dont go asking Rangers and such, they often don't know crap and you may cause headaches for someone like me.

It will make sense with experience. Theres a reason most new detectorist try it once and then it sits in their closet. Enjoy the journey, and put in the time. -
I was just there yesterday. I highly recommend you join the motherlode goldhounds. Good luck!

Ray Mills was the influence for me to buy my Gb pro...and it has quickly become one of my favorite detectors. I have found more gold than my other vlf's,its extremely easy to use and its a great relic/coin detector too. A question for you...are you new to prospecting? If so, do you already have known hold producing spots to detect? I ask, because you seem to emphasize waterproof capabalities. Just my oponion, but unless you have a remote,or private property area to detect underwater,it may be more of a pain than its worth. Reason I say that,if your plans arw to hit the north fork American in Auburn rec area,or another open area like that, theres gonna so much fishing weights, etc that detecting gor gold underwater may be a pain in the butt. I would think good ole sniping would be better. Just a thought. -
Darnit! Would love to meet you Ray, but Im starting a big roof on the 14th. Good luck ! Ray
