  1. It will make sense with experience. Theres a reason most new detectorist try it once and then it sits in their closet. Enjoy the journey, and put in the time.
  2. I was just there yesterday. I highly recommend you join the motherlode goldhounds. Good luck!
  3. Ray Mills was the influence for me to buy my Gb pro...and it has quickly become one of my favorite detectors. I have found more gold than my other vlf's,its extremely easy to use and its a great relic/coin detector too. A question for you...are you new to prospecting? If so, do you already have known hold producing spots to detect? I ask, because you seem to emphasize waterproof capabalities. Just my oponion, but unless you have a remote,or private property area to detect underwater,it may be more of a pain than its worth. Reason I say that,if your plans arw to hit the north fork American in Auburn rec area,or another open area like that, theres gonna so much fishing weights, etc that detecting gor gold underwater may be a pain in the butt. I would think good ole sniping would be better. Just a thought.
  4. Darnit! Would love to meet you Ray, but Im starting a big roof on the 14th. Good luck ! Ray
  5. Good show!Missed you Steve. I saw Chris while bs'ing with Don,but he was busy.I hung out mainly at the AMRA booth, and with Mike and Jerry at goldhounds booth. Really impressive turnout!
  6. I think it looks cool! Almost like tree bark on that side. Ray
  7. Truthfully, if it was me and he was a friend( as in I liked him) I would help him out best I can. If he is the obnoxous type,well....
  8. Yep Steve. And looks like they only added adjustable iron volume on a g2. Will have to have a boost mode too for me to think about it. Camo aint gonna get me more relics.
  9. Maybe Keith Southern will see this....hes experienced with the 705
  10. Wes, check out the American mining rights association...guy is ballsy in his fight on that.
  11. You know Wes,I think most of us wouldnt mind paying our FAIR share,if the clowns didnt waste ir,and live high on the hog off OUR earnings. Ray
  12. Yeah that truly sucks Wes. Didnt know they where going after LAST years taxes! Sounds like a way to steal the treasure outright, along with their property. Hate the crap OUR government does to US!
  13. I too love that coil, but in really thick nails the stock 5inch coil works better for me. Talking relic hunting. I would like to see a boost mode ,adjustable iron volume and as Keith often refers too,a wider iron range, say 0-80 or 100.
  14. Great Stories and pictures Rob!!! I bought a fj40 in 1986, still have it,but is now a lawn ornament, lol. I now use a 1979 hilux as my prospecting rig. Those fj45's are very rare here in the states, and go for a mint. Thanks again for the pics!!
