  1. My detecting buddy uses the falcon to find gold. Hes been going to some quartz covered gullies on public land where they have basically banned detecting. So he uses the falcon and always seems to come back with 5-10 pieces of quartz that sound off. Most have no visible gold...but he crushes them up,and sure enough theres gold.
  2. Same as LipCa. I only know one guy who has. I was camping with a bunch of prospectors and the subject was brought up,and Don Robinson went into great detail. It was fascinating, but a little over my head...was like listening to Tom D. talk algorythms, lol.
  3. First of all, thank you for all the testing and very detailed reports you give us! I mean that..I got 2 late teen kids,wife,business,etc....so my detecting expenses are limited...if I want to stay married, lol. I mention the Sov,because to this day I have never seen ,used or heard of a more accurate i.d. The tones are a thing of beauty, couple thatwith the sunray, and its accuracy is amazing...and stays that way at depth . I could pick out a wheaty next to a zinc, pick out an indian in a sea of garbage, etc. But the ergonomics sucked, and to do real well you have to swing so slow as to crawl. Ray
  4. Steve, have you ever used a Sovereign? Specifically with a sunray meter.
  5. Good call on the color too. I put yellow tape on my original...Im blind as a bat and need all the help I can get.
  6. I definitely agree with Bob on headphones. But I do like a nice carry case made specifically for said detector.
  7. Yep Steve! This is the kind of company we have all wanted. They do not seem to take their customer base for granted. Im sure there will be a bump in the road or two along the way, but customers like me are loyal to those that really care about us.
  8. Dilek...Steves words ring true for slot of us! Looking forward to seeing what the next detector is. One wish...please package like the fors with multiple coils and the very nice detector bag. Merry Christmas!
  9. yes,me too Steve. They have a "can do " attitude, and seemed determined to have an impact on the detecting world. Cant wait to see what they come out with. Merry Christmas yall!
  10. I probably will sell my Deus to get a Fors gold eventually...The deus is almost magical the way it can pull good targets out of trash..but its kinda overkill for me with all the configurations possible. Basically I relic hunt Ca gold rush areas and I prospect. I dont beach hunt, and urban detecting is down to hunting demos in Stockton....which is same as relic hunting in the hills but with bums, hookers and drug addicts instead of rattlers and poison oak, lol. Im waiting to see if Nokta will give us a forward screen, then I will do it.
  11. Well,Im mainly a relic hunter, but the same pricipals should work for gold in trash. Usually the culprit is square naills and smaller bits of iron. A detector like the gb pro and AT pro will usually disc these at around 27-28...and this is where I set the tone break. But audio matters more than anything else....bigger iron such as chisels, picks are easy to discern...but I dig them because I like them, lol. I like to use a small coil or eliptical, and just work the heck out of an area from different angles and overlap swings. Its almost like your trying to coerce a signal,if that makes sense. Any high tone that even squeeks and I can get to repeat, gets investigated. Often its just iron falsing ,but using a pick makes a quick assesment. Right now I have a gb pro,Deus,Tejon and my son uses an AT pro for this type of detecting. My main concern though is we do well on shallow stuff in high trash....but feel like I am missing alot of the deeper targets. This is where you Steve, have my attention on the Nokta. I really want a small coil to have some "punch". Well, enough of my rambling thoughts. Merry Christmas everyone...and thanks for hosting such a great site Steve...I learn alot here! Ray
  12. Wow!!!Spectacular is an understatement Steve! Friggin awesome!!
  13. Right on Ray Ray! I just bookmarked it. Ray
  14. Hi Mike, glad to see you here bud! Really good info,am looking forward to more post. I have never been a jewerly hunter....but do know some areas around here that should be excelkent. I plan on doing some jewerly detecting this winter....good find given to the wife will equal more detecting oppurtunities, lol.
  15. Ive actually considered one to get aeriel pictures of the metal roofs we install...with the thought of discovering detecting sites during my off days, lol
  16. I hear ya JP....been roofing for 25 years,my ears are jacked,lol.
  17. Wheres Ron? He really is the ctx master, think he had one the first week they where out...plus he started the ctx nuggetshooting craze, lol.
  18. in the USA,my guess is the bounty hunter is the most popular ovetall.
  19. You beat me to the punch on Tesoro. I really dont see them around much longer. To bad,I still use a Tejon and Bandido, and their warranty is unmatched...but they are going nowhere. Ok, I predict XP will come out with a small coil, and a new deus update.
