Cut Spanish Silver Rockingham County Va

Recommended Posts

Took the D2 out to a small Confederate camp using the general program because the ground is saturated. Three tone, notch 07-40, tone break at 68. I had dug several bullets all ringing up as 82 when I got a solid 84. Out came this cut 1730's Spanish silver. you can see the beginning of a 3 for the third digit in the dateScreenshot_20240225-163649_Gallery.thumb.jpg.1f535d25f9ffb2fde41ca81d6a9c43c6.jpg

Nice one! Looks like it was also shaved a bit, they did that to make counterfeits or use the silver for other purposes. The notches are a giveaway, this was why later silvers were reeded.

I have yet to find a whole Reale, either 1, 2, 4, or the much coveted 8.

Are you on V2 now?

Yes I'm very happy with V2. 90% of the time if conditions allow I run sensitive full tones, high square, offset 10, notch 07-40 , discrimination 6.8, reactivity 1.5 or 2.

Those are my go to relic settings

I have found these settings make it very easy to identify aluminum. A VDI of 74 that is aluminum has a hollow wind chime type of sound where as a brass button with a VDI of 74 has a solid bell sound.

That is in nice condition. The site seems to have some history before the War.

Nice save, now find the other half of it.

Just kidding, but it would be nice if you were able to get another piece of one.

Good luck on your next outing.
