I don't think they have much to worry about there, I don't think people were buying a lot of the AT Series in recent years and there has been a healthy second-hand market to get the detectors at even cheaper prices, but you're right there, the announcement of the Storm would completely kill AT Series sales so by doing so in advance like this they've taken that hit on the sales that remained. I can't help think these announcements are a delay tactic, they probably had all intentions of releasing the detector at various points along the way and something is preventing that. It's good they want to make sure it's right before release though, it's really their make-or-break moment. They're either competitive with the other players or fall by the wayside, gradually turning into a First Texas. They managed to pull themselves out of the doldrums with their prospecting detectors going from the AT Gold and ATX to having the 24k and Axiom bringing themselves back into the game, if they can at least achieve an Equinox type detector at the right price (don't try overprice it again Garrett, didn't work on your recent venture) then that's enough to keep them being in the top manufacturers and not just another detector company. There will be a point that the generic detectors out of China can meet or exceed detectors like the First Texas models, and the current AT Series, that time has likely already passed in many cases, so they don't want to be a big brand name competing against generic detectors for sales, they want to remain a big brand name that the generics can't compete with for performance and they're only competing with the top manufacturers. I think they can achieve this and they'll make their AT Series customer base happy and perhaps grow their market share with the Storm.

It’s just marketing. If we’re going to fault Gerrett then we have to fault phone, car, … companies. It’s common practice to keep details secret until announcement day, Apple Phone. The up-and-coming announcement day may/not be the release date. This is the now generations, including me. I don’t want to hear about it unless I can get it right now. Maybe one-day shipping is OK. Any longer … One of the most famous marketing blunders was the Osborne 2 computer. They announced it way in advance. People quit buying the Osborne 1. Didn’t have enough income to build it, went out of business.

Survival of the fittest. Hopefully the months it was there was enough for people to understand and ensure they know their registered email address and can figure out how to change their display name where it asks for login to their email address 🙂 That's all that needs done. If the emails no longer valid you can still login with it, but should change it for reasons like if you have to recover a forgotten password, or if the forum needs to send you an important noficiation. It's a good change for security reasons, and who knows what needs done in that regard over the coming years, things are only getting worse.

I don't think Garrett had any intention of giving us any details at all. I believe they just realized their mistake of calling the video a Premiere, so they changed it to Teaser Part 1. I believe that because as soon as it was aired, people immediately began with the pissed off comments. Garrett just kept replying with "More info coming next week". In other words, Garrett could have immediately given some details, but chose not to. Even with the massive amount of angry comments that followed for days, Garrett still didn't give any details. On a side note, someone replied to Garrett's "More info next week" comment with: "What do you plan to show next week for us? Armrest or charging cable?" 🤣

Yep no tracking ground balance, my sensitivity of 24 to 26 may impact the battery run time and possibly the size of the coil, my test garden is quite contaminated so plenty of ferous and non ferous targets setting of the machine. My sensitivity levels are easily achievable in my soil and do help in locating targets where I hunt as well as hitting targets in my test garden.

Sorry it’s been awhile and I have not been posting or commenting on anything, but I do read the posts occasionally. Hopefully I put this post in right section/category. Just wanted to let everyone know I have not disappeared I just been tied up with this cancer stuff I am fighting, so it has taken a bunch of time and limited me on detecting. Well they also been dumping the yearly sands on our beaches again nothing like 10 ft of overburden grrrrrrrrr…….. Doesn’t help with finding things. Unfortunately the PI only goes so deep. I’ll work on a 12 ft deep mod and gigantic battery for it while I am going through treatments and recovery. 😆 Don’t know if I mentioned before it is stage IV pancreatic so it has been a real challenge/battle. This is the 3rd time fighting (guess I never really stopped). It will be 28 days of radiation this go around with chemo pills. The 1st two times fighting over the past couple of years was very extensive chemo/brutal stuff. I will beat it this time for good. Pretty tired of it getting in my way of detecting/life and I can’t let everyone else find all the goodies. Remember you have to leave some in the ground for me — heck even a foil bubble gum wrapper or pull tab sounds good right now. 😝 Yes I have to keep a sense of humor. All of us should laugh at life and ourselves from time to time. Really helps in this crazy world and times we live in. Thanks for all the support and hopefully I will be getting out and posting again soon. I actually text with a few on here so they keep me informed of the latest stuff. I'm wondering if your reasonably high sensitivity levels are sucking some extra life from the battery ? Powerbank is the way to go.....easy enough to hook one up under the cuff. I'm getting closer to 9 hours run time (two separate hunts) but with sensitivity typically set around 20-21. One last thing....is your ground balance tracking "OFF" ?

Never heard it called layering, was always scrape and detect for me. It's the only realistic way to get gold in a lot of places now with a detector. Harder work but often well worth it. Good job and good results - congratulations! Scrape & Detect in Alaska with Fisher Gold Bug 2

That big coil is just too big to swing in the terrain I have to swing it. It is very stable in all timings and handles magnetite without issues. I sold it and got a 19" Evo instead. Way lighter than the 25" DDX. Easier to swing on slopes. We have a lot if rusty red soil and in some areas it turns to red brick color and you cannot hunt in Sensitive Extra. Sharp works if you go slow enough. Other than that, Fine Gold is the quietest timing. Hopefully when the ground dries out I will be able to hunt in Sensitive Extra.

So my battery from full charge to complete shut down has lasted a total of 7hrs and 15 minutes. used over a few days in my test garden. My settings were ATG, sensitivity from 24 to 26, Recovery speed 4, Horse shoe on so no discrimination, no torch or vibration, and screen light on auto. using 12x15 coil. So not very good. A power bank will be required for longer days out, I will in future not use Auto for the screen brightness and adjust manually as needed.

I am one of those waiting for the weather to clear up. It seems to be going backwards. Just two nights ago we had 4-18 inches of snow drop. This photo was taken two days ago 3 miles below my camp. I've been in Helena painting a couple rooms for a friend and I am heading back to camp in an hour. I will soon find out if my tent came down again from the snow load. I had to cut a lodge pole for the center pole as the original pole for my tent was folded in half do to the last storm to role through a couple weeks ago. As for layering. I am looking forward to digging and finally finding some decent gold on my claim. Going on walk-a-bouts for nuggets has pretty much dried up. Digging in a spot that logically gold should be is a crap shoot.
