I'm in extreme NE TN and even with the red clay VLF's are used most often. I don't have any issues using the NOX or Simplex+. Many people use the Garrett AT PRO and have very good luck with it. You're not going to like the red clay though. When it's dry it's like a rock. When it's wet it's like sticky staining torture that you can't pull your shovel out if! I shift the frequency to F1 and have no interference with my Garrett. On F2 it's annoying.

I don't think that there ever was a Q1. I think you'd notice if you scratched it off. Just see if it works.

My cable dry rotted after 2 years and I never got a response from them. I repaired them myself though. They are very well built and have an excellent click type volume control that stays put.

I also have a multi with the concentric coil. Haven't used it much at all because of the winter. Plan on playing with it soon.
