  1. It's fun to watch all the testing that's going on with the new machines. But it doesn't answer all the questions for me as to which is the best, I'm going to have to get them out and decide for myself. Everyone has their own hunt styles, sites, soil types and target types that differ from everyone else. Watching someone do a depth test in mild soil tells me nothing about my soil, which is very mineralized. Watching someone do an elevated iron and coin separation test also tells me nothing about my sites and the targets that are located in them. Yes it gives me a good idea of how machines perform as I have done the same on some of my videos. But in the end I think each person needs to decide on the features that are most important to them when making a buying decision. I don't dive or even hunt in the water much, so waterproof means nothing to me. although it is nice to have some rain protection. I also don't coin hunt parks much, so stable target ID also has little use. If I get a non-ferrous signal I dig with a full size shovel no matter what the ID is. I hunt Military relics, ghost towns, gold nuggets and do some wet sand beach hunting. Really the only things that matter to me with the new machines coming out is will they pernitrate my mineralized soil, do they have fast recovery and can I get a small coil for them. So at the moment both the Legend and the Deus 2 interest me for different reasons. But until I can get them in the sites I hunt, I'm not sure they can fully replace the detectors I currently use which are the GPX 5000 (Which I know that's not happening) the Deus 1 and the Equinox 800.
  2. At one time I was up to 10 detectors. Currently I'm down to 3 that I use consistently and 4 that I don't and will eventually sell in the Spring or use them as loaners to family members. It just gets to the point that you can't keep up with making sure all the batteries are charged and all the accessories are organized properly. The detectors I use consistently are the GPX 5000, XP Deus 1 and Equinox 800. In reserves I have a Whites XLT, Garrett Apex, Minelab eTrac and GPX 4500. The XLT is actually a good loaner for someone who has little detecting experience. I can set it up and let them go hunt without having to constantly help them with dig or don't dig signals. As for the others in reserve, I see me selling most of them in the Spring when the market for used machines gets better. Currently I have both the Legend and Deus 2 on order. One or both of those may prompt me to sell either/both of the Deus 1 and Equinox 800 since they are both out of warranty. That will of course depend on performance.
  3. I have the same question Jeff and it hasn't been completely answered for me yet. Although iffy signals video was very helpful knowing what kind of soil he has.
  4. Thanks Phrunt! I can see where this is going. Looking like the Legend is going to give the Equinox a run for the money in the separation department.
  5. Yea I would assume the 11" coils is what he was talking about.
  6. Nice video. Now I wish I could see the Legend in action using a 6" coil in a separation test against the Equinox. Really that is the only thing I'm interested in with the Legend is the 6" coil setup. If it outperforms the Equinox then it will be a perfect ghost town and gold nugget detector since the Deus 2 doesn't have a small coil available.
  7. The Deus II really is looking like a great machine and will be well worth the money. They are smart getting it out to a few people early and showing what it can do and how it operates. That alone is going to take some of the initial learning curve off for some people. From what I've seen so far the Deus II will pretty much match or exceed the Equinox performance with similar coil sizes. The small 6" on the Equinox will still be useful for me until XP gets a 5x10 out for the Deus II. For me the only thing that has my curiosity with the Legend is the 6" coil. If it will outperform the Equinox with the 6" coil (which I have a feeling it will) that will be reason enough to own the Legend in addition to the Deus II.
  8. Yea doesn't sound all that stable when pushing it for depth. I'd also like to hear the square audio.
  9. This is more like I want to see. How it performs in the field. It looks like its fairly deep and the ID is very stable. Not sure how the mineralization is in the UK compared to the Western US though.
  10. Yea video was good but Deus II wasn't that impressive IMO. Didn't see anything the regular Deus wouldn't have picked up. But hard to say at this point.
  11. Man am I glad I passed on the Impluse when my name came up. From the sound of it there's no way it would have worked at the Great Salt Lake especially in the water. Combine that with some of the rock outcroppings which appear to be volcanic in nature and even cause threshold drift on my GPX, the Impulse would have been totally useless. Early reviews were a warning sign to me that FT didn't have everything figured out yet. The problem FT has now is that even when they do release a completed Impluse, everyone will be skeptical of it's performance. A better option would have been for them to give 20 or 30 to people in the field and kept quiet about the issues it had until the problems were worked out.
  12. Totally agree I have both the Legend and the Deus 2 on pre-order. But after reading the Deus 2 manual I'm seriously thinking about just dropping the order on the Legend. If the Deus 2 beats the Legend to market good by Legend order. I already have an Equinox 800 and haven't had any of the issues people talk about with the build quality. Other than build quality being possibly better on the Legend I can't see any reason to get it. It's highly unlikely the Legend is going to outperform the Equinox on it's first try (I could be wrong). The Deus on the other hand appears very well thought out and has a bunch of advanced features I really look forward to using. And yes it also has a clock! If a person is on a budget I can see taking a chance on the Legend. But if it's not why not just go for the sure thing, which is the Deus 2. I have more confidence that the Deus 2 will be up to the performance standards of the Equinox than I do the Legend.
  13. Wonder how long the GPX 5000 is going to stay in the lineup. It's been out what 10 years now I'm guessing. I hope if they do discontinue it that it gets replaces with something we can still use for beach and relic hunting. Be nice to see it go in a GPX 6000 housing and still have all the timings of the 5000 with iron disc. I know the market is relatively small for beach and relic use but I sure would hate to see it disappear. There are places I hunt that taking anything but a GPX is a waste of time.
  14. Wow very impressed with the Deus II. If it performs as well as the manual leads me to believe, I may not need another VLF detector. There are some advanced functions that are going to take a few 100 hours to master IMHO.
  15. You could have a bad coil. I just lost one at DIV, acted very similar. Every time I moved the coil cable it freaked out. Come to find out the wires had broken right were it went into the coil. All those years of setting the machine down and then readjusting it to hunt wore the wires out.
  16. Phasetechnical.com.au is where I got the kit but I don't see them listed anymore. I would write them and see if they still sell them. I got mine about a year ago.
  17. I've had the same issue with 2 of my batteries. It seams to happen when they get charged. They're working fine and then you charge it and they're all of a sudden bad. I had 2 go out back to back and figured it was the charger. So I bought a new charger and no problems since. I fix both batteries with a repair kit sold by a company in Australia. I can probably find the info if you like. If you're not good and electronic repairs you can probably find a local shop to do the repair with the kit. Kit has all the instructions.
  18. Here's what I use. Monoprice, same as the Tarsacci. I like them because they sound good and I can mount the module right on the headphone to keep the wire out of the way. Also they plug straight into the module without have to add an adapter.
  19. Nice bunch of tokens. I love finding tokens, Congratulations!
  20. When both these new machines are available to the public I would beware of any initial claims of one being better than the other right out of the gate. Or better/worse than the Equinox. I think any testers that release any head to head comparisons better have at least 50 plus hours on either the Legend or Deus 2 before any conclusions are drawn. I know personally I had my I initial doubts about the Equinox being anything special. Kept going back to the trusty Deus because I couldn't wrap my head around the multi IQ. Could be the same with either the Deus 2 or Legend. Especially with the Deus 2, looking through all those programs available can be a little intimidating. But the real performance will come from all the backend adjustments you can make to the stock programs. That isn't something you can learn in a few hours. There's going to be a lot of YouTubers trying to be the first to post results. Anything more than open box reviews are goung to be highly suspect. It's not like we're getting a simple Vanquish or Apex this time around. Turn on and go will probably work for some stock programs. But like I said the magic is in all those other adjustments that can be made and those need to be implemented over hours and hours of field use. I personally never use stock programs on either the Deus or the Equinox anymore. Learn the machine with the stock programs and then open it up and see what it can really do. Look forward to the seeing and using the new machines. It's going to be an exciting end to 2021.
  21. Nokta Makro probably just obsoleted all their other detectors with the Legend. I can see owning a Simplex at $254 but why would you buy an Anfibio $765 or Kruzer at $635 when you probably have all the features of those 2 packed into the Legend Pro and then some at $765. I had a multi Kruzer and only ever used 3 and 4 tone modes.
  22. where was the live event? I registered for it and got no notice via the email I used.
