  1. Thanks! I've spent entire days detecting this particular site with not so much as a single coin to show for my efforts, but they're there. I did mix it up this time and used the 6" coil on the Equinox, which I plan to continue using on the next trip. Seems to work well there.
  2. Ahh but that was the decoy GPS, so in reality you'll be going to Tom_in_CA sites 😂 I don't think I can manage the Labor Day Spot this time, but definitely planning to go again next May. Let me know how you do there. -Brian
  3. Thanks 👍 Hope you've been getting some swing time in 🤔
  4. Thanks for the report, those are the kind of trips that you'll always remember. Great group of folks and fun sites to explore! A friend and I did the second (IIRC) WTHO trip that Monte and Greg hosted and we had a great time. Coins, tokens, and relics were dug. Between everyone on that trip some really nice finds were made.
  5. Love the seateds, nice job! Where there's seateds, good chance at gold as you've proven 👍
  6. Those kind of sites are fun, and you never know what will turn up!
  7. Haven't been getting out as much as I'd like to, but did a recent business trip and incorporated a favorite back pocket spot into the loop. Between the heatwave and the overgrowth, it's best visited in the winter or early spring, but I managed a few keepers. Very short video: GL&HH, Cal
  8. Nice report F350Platinum. Just curious why you did a factory reset, does CoilTek recommend it or ?
  9. That's a nice one, congrats! I've dug one bust dime that was pretty toasty, and one bust half that was in decent shape. They're definitely not jumping out of the ground anywhere.
  10. Nope you're good to go for a while....you can have my largies though! I've dug two gold coins (both rare dates as luck would have it), but zero large cents thus far.
  11. Might want one of these for desert detecting (good for getting in between brush. iron, etc). Anyone know the best place to get one? Any deals or is everyone selling them for MSRP? TIA!
  12. You're killing it alright, wow three rare finds in one outing!! The private mint $5 gold coin is out of this world, congrats on that! Largies, which not typically numistically valuable, are as rare as finding a gold coin in the West. I know people that have found more gold coins then largies, and some folks that have found multiple gold coins and no largies (like myself ha ha). Congratulations, I'd dig anything that made a peep at that site, there's bound to be more 👍
  13. I get the sense that Steve is capturing this data for Minelab as their working on their next gen Equinox software 🤔
  14. I'm on the waiting list too....waiting to see what everyone thinks about it before taking the plunge 😁
  15. Seems like my thinking may be accurate in that Minelab would likely launch/announce new product at Detectival 2021 for ML FY22, hope it's not just new pinpointers UNLESS they introduce an inline pinpointer that works like a wireless Sunray probe with the detector audio (sign me up for one of those!). The EQX1K would be most welcome, but unless it brings something earth shattering to the table, I may not be first in line to sign up for one this time around, I'm pretty happy with the EQX800.
  16. Same here (secretly knocks on wood!) but I've seen the reports. Not only on Minelab though, other vendors have also had their fair share of coil ear woes. Going forward, ALL should have learned from the past to better engineer the coil mounts.
  17. Kind of what I'm thinking. It worked the first time but this time I already have an EQX800, so patience will be in larger supply this time around 😁
  18. Looks like that metallic tape they use for duct work, no?
  19. The big question is do they actually sell them? I collect Victorian and Art Nouveau blown art glass, and if I could sell my collection to the price guides I'd be wealthy beyond imagination...okay maybe that well off, but you get the idea. I see some ridiculous asking prices for things on fleabay, so you can ask anything you want, but at the end of the day it's what someone's actually will to pay for an item that matters. I've found quite a bit of iron relics like in your photos, and I typically leave them being as I don't have the space to haul them home. I've brought a few of the more exceptional or unusual iron finds home, and someday when I have a larger home they'll likely get used for garden art or possible hung on the wall of the garage for a pseudo man cave display.
  20. Looks like you did great, a lot of bucket listers there for most! Although I had to cancel several of my detecting trips last year due to covid, I still managed to find my second gold coin, and a rare one that that. I ended the year with a handful of 1800's and early 1900's coins that totaled in the $10K range, so I cannot complain.
  21. Customer communications has never been s stong point for Minelab, but it seems like they have been listening to customer needs better then ever before. I'm pleased that Tom Dankowski seems to have their ear and we've seen positive results of this relationship, hopefully this continues.
  22. I'm going to order a cheapo control box cover and line it with foil, or maybe I can get some kind of RF shielding material from work...hmm. @PimentoUK Do you think a control box cover lined with this would do the trick? https://www.ebay.com/itm/EMF-RF-RFID-Shielding-Nickel-Copper-Fabric-Folded-12-x-43-of-Material/174128886930?hash=item288ae3f492:g:74UAAOSw0ItbpZ4N I have a couple of intercity spots that are infested with EMI, mainly from unshielded overhead high voltage Muni electric bus power cables that would provide the perfect test ground for a RF shield.
