  1. Doc, invents some great after market accessories for our detectors and our hobby! Here's my GPZ cover, and on my buddies GPZ coil is one of Doc's Poke Holders! Doc, keep thinking and talk to you soon...your with me on every hunt or your products are...lol Rick
  2. Chris, I sent my GPX to that address a few years back. With the same problem your having! No confirmation that they even received my detector and no phone call for a couple weeks, finally called Chicago and they couldn't contact this guy. I finally sent my Brother there to check it out and it was one of them places that rent mail boxes...kind of shady! He finally contacted me, after I was raising hell with Chicago that my detector was being sent back to me that day. I gave him and ear full and a bad review to Chicago...but he still has the contract...lol. Surprised Minelab, hasn't sent you a new detector out. Seen less problems with the GPZ and new unit was sent out pronto. Good luck Rick
  3. I was hoping to see the guy that sews up the Pro Swing 45 or why they can't put a lanyard on their Pin Pointer guy in development...lol Rick
  4. Norm, The upgrade is working out great! This last week I dug up nuggets that just made me shake my head in amazement of the GPZ. I will tell you, no detectorist gets all the gold in a productive area...but it helps to swing a GPZ, lol. Until the next hunt Rick
  5. Chuck, This is the best hobby! Don't quit you day job...it's the hunt, the sweet tone, God's gold country and the friends you met on your travels. Until the next hunt Rick
  6. Lunk, Well earned 1/4 ounce! Your a master of the Zed and no nugget is safe in any goldfield with you & Zed, chasing it down. To your continued success, my Friend...Until the next hunt Rick
  7. Fred, I'm with you! When I updated at Rye Patch this last trip, I did notice a difference. But, it wasn't mind boggling by any means...you still have to work through tuff conditions to have a little rattle in the poke bottle. Yet, I'm more than happy Minelab, is working to keep us GPZ owners updated. Maybe a few updates away to counter our soil conditions? Rick
  8. Lunk, That is the best Pizza I've eating in the State of Nevada...a must stop for all hungry Prospector's! Now we are giving some of the secrets away, see ya soon. Rick
  9. Lunk, Always a pleasure running into you way out in them hills! I know you had to have a chilly night at camp, your always more than welcome to our campers and hot meal. See ya on the next adventure! Rick
  10. I spent 3-days in Rye Patch and I was suffering with the nosiey wet soil, on day one! What a change in conditions from the week prior. So I, updated my GPZ that eve, to seek some help and I did notice a somewhat smoother machine on the following days hunt. One of my hunting partners did not update and had a great hunt, but was checking out more hot spots with his pick than I. Until the next hunt! LuckyLundy
  11. Rudy, Like I said, dinks are bread and butter! I like butter on my bread...We can discuss this challenge in the field, pizza dinner for the winner and the hunting party! See ya soon Rick
  12. Rudy, My settings are the best for dry dirt! I will have to probably change my settings this weekend at Rye Patch with the wet soil and be some what close the yours...lol. Bring beer and food Rick
  13. Flak, I've known you for years, and one day look forward to seeing you more in the field! You do have to know your equipment and the music it sings. I learned early to not make the GPZ run as smooth as my GPX...it talks a different talk. Rick
  14. Ms Peg, It was a pleasure meeting you out searching for gold nuggets. Your more than on your way to being a very successful detectorist in our hobby. I told my Wife Robin about you and how hard you worked for your nuggets, she can't wait to meet you! Thanks for your service to our Country and to your continued service to America's Disabled Veterans in the Great State of Idaho. Rick & Robin
  15. Scott, Your more than right! I shouldn't have to find a place to sew this up for me or find a plastic manufacturing place to fix that J Bar. Here is the deal...Minelab send me a new Pro Swing 45, Thanks in Advance! LuckyLundy
  16. Here is our pokes! Rudy and I, we're fighting it out for the lead in total Wieght before he landed his fat one. Scales showing in dwts Rick
  17. Paying your dues at one of America's most pounded gold bearing ground, is no joke! Thousands of acres of land to swing your coil, it's a daunting thought of where to start your hunt if you don't know the area. I put in numerous hunts with no rattle in the poke bottle. But, you start learning as you pickup a nugget or two and the puzzle pieces start to fit. My buddy Rudy and I, hit Rye Patch for a 7 day hunt, we only lasted 6 days! I don't know if it was the heat during the hunt or the beers after the hunt, but we couldn't do one more day! We both swing the GPZ, but use total different modes, you may have heard me say you can't run this machine wrong. Find what modes and setting you like and master it. We'd call each other over to listen to see if one of ours ran better than the other on whisper nugget signals. We each heard, the smallest signals we could find for each other and finally gave up the challenge of the best settings for the GPZ. The one thing in common is a very slow swing of your coil and a good pair of headphones (not the stock ones, another story). Well back to our hunt! Nuggets where biting here and there, but we couldn't land one over a penny weight, several are close. But, in our book if it's not a dwt'er its a dink nugget. Dinks are the bread and butter, but we wanted some steak & lobster nuggets. Well late afternoon on the last full day hunt, Rudy radios me to get the shovel from my truck. As I'm getting the shovel a couple of other fellow prospector's introduced theirselves to me and I lead them with me to Rudy and his deep hole. A couple of good shovel fulls of dirt and the target was out. 7.3 dwts at 16" deep on a old pounded patch...Priceless! We had a blast on our 6 day hunt and we met some new friends in the high desert search for gold. Our total Wieght was a little over 27 dwts. Did I see there is a new download for the GPZ...do I have to...lol. Until the next hunt, low and slow LuckyLundy
  18. Just got home from there...it was a hot 6 days there mid to high 80's. Looks like cooler weather is on its way...of course after I leave...lol Rick
  19. I use to love my Pro Swing 45. This week at Rye Patch it met its match and was falling apart on me. Stitching came undone and my J bar needs something besides Gorilla Glue. Without the Hip Stick attached to my broken Pro Swing, I would have suffered big time! Now I need to find someone with and industrial sewing machine to fix my Pro Swing 45. Rick
  20. Condor, Your more than right, ground conditions may have a detectorist seek a different setting. I've found nuggets in all the settings, yet High Yield/Normal is my go to setting. You can't run the GPZ wrong unless it's not turned on! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy
  21. Condor, That High Yield/Normal is the ticket! LuckyLundy
  22. WesD, They'd have to come knocking on my door to get it back...lol Rick
  23. Mitch & Lu, Thanks for the Chicken Wings! Lu, is a Trooper and is well on her way of mastering GB Pro. Your GPZ, will fill a poke up fast, just a low slow swing of your coil. Look forward to seeing you two in the goldfields with a bucket of Chicken Wings! Rick
