  1. All i know is that i really like the detector! And the great price did help! It does have some limitations, but i knew that going in! It will pay for itself in no time! The $299 deal is still on Amazon; says 4 left!! Thank's all on the forum who brought it to my attention! And also, Today is my One Year Anniversary on Detector Prospector Forum!! Thank's to all who have entertained me, and shared your knowledge!! šŸŽ†šŸŽ‡āœØšŸ‘šŸ‘
  2. Mitchel, That's Lake Worth Pier! We also have Juno Pier to the North! The other picture that look's like a dark shadow, is the bigger mullet that you caught! We have both this time of year! Too bad you weren't detecting back when you went to Sebastian! There was a much better chance to find some wreck treasure back then, before all this renurishment crap! Depending on how long ago that was! I was in the same boat! When we were younger, we used to camp at Sebastian a few times a year! Little did i know what was on the beach there!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  3. Hello all, I decided to start a new post from the "Tale of Two Detectors" post, specifically for the G2+! That way, anyone else that bought one, or has one, can also post, for setup and such! I went out yesterday afternoon, seeing how it had been raining all day, and i was tired of being stuck in the house! It was perfect weather to detect, and the tide was falling! The rain made it cool enough to be fairly comfortable in the humidity! The beaches the last couple of weeks have not been good! Sand is still way to soft near the water to find much! And the renurishment sand still pollutes the beach's! But it's exercise, and gets me out of the house to work on my skills with pinky! There was one other guy working south of me, so i headed north of the pier! A walked about a mile with little to show, before i saw some promising erosion! Once getting there, some coins started here and there! But nothing that was going to break the bank! I am getting the hang of the sounds the detector makes, and could decern when to not dig much better this time out! The highlight finds were a nice fishing lure, and a small gold/ silver ring; not sure yet, as it has no discernable mark inside the band, but it cleaned up nice, and is the first ring i found with the G2+! šŸ’ Also of note, was low tide finger mullet running in the shallows, to avoid being eaten! I walked thru a large school, while detecting! Nature is awesome, and one of the "Treasures" you can't take home in a find's pouch!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  4. I was thinking maybe Nye lubricates may want to buy the jar and contents from you, to put in the company museum! Maybe they will even formulate a coin preservative from the recipe to market; minus the stench! If nothing else, it could be sold to the military for fighting terrorists! Think of it; not a bullet fired, nor life risked! Just drop a few dozen jars on a terrorist stronghold, and they would vacate immediately! And they would be banned by all other's from hiding out amongst them!šŸ˜‚šŸ‘šŸ‘
  5. Thanks Geof, Very good story on Nye Lubricants! Sounds like they got their business model perfected early on; even when making the switch to synthetic from animal: to still be in business today! I wish White's could have adapted as well! Maybe Caleb can post a picture of the jar, when he posts the other coins! If he can get near it!šŸ˜‚šŸ‘šŸ‘
  6. Welcome TR, Glad to have you! You will learn much here, no matter what your swinging! Good luck on the nuggets!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  7. Sounds like you've done your homework Dew! Do you use one also? šŸ‘šŸ‘
  8. Wow, Two silver, AND A GOLD!!šŸ¤Æ I think you just won all three spots in the Coin Olympics! Way to go!! Keep the luck running!!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  9. Hey Kac, I was just looking it up, only 1864 was small and large motto! His coin looks to be between AU(50) and MS(60) range! Beautiful coin! Can't wait to see the rest! (See only, not smell!!)šŸ¤®šŸ˜‚šŸ‘šŸ‘
  10. Like everything Rob, the "grass is always greener" if you have been in one location for a long time! I feel your pain! I've been near beaches in S. Florida my whole life, and many times it gets old! They are not what they used to be! Too many restrictions and rules! And too crowded! And other than the Treasure Coast, no old coins or relics to be found! (And rare when you do!) But i guess we deal with what we have, until we are able to relocate! Which i hope to do in the next year or two!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  11. Good luck with it RR, I'm keeping my eye on it's use on the beach and saltwater, by our forum member's! Price is the only hindrance for now! As compaired to a Nox! I hope it does a better job of staying dry, and problem free!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  12. Cuda, Maybe he will do another like that, if we ask! He did a good job with that one! Update: I went on there and asked! Will see!!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  13. My issue is why is it that we only hear of ML's coil ears breaking! And no other coil, or detector manufacturer! That should be, at least, one indication of a flaw in the design, or composition of the thermoplastic they use! And i haven't seen or heard of them trying to fix the problem! They are good with their service, but who wants to be down their only, or primary detector for weeks!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  14. Very good unbiased video! I like both detectors very much! But i have a slight lean to the Simplex+ for waterproofness and price! Mostly because I'm primarily a beach hunter! I like the Vanquish for it's sounds, and strength at depth! And coil choices! Ideally i would get both, to cover many situations, if they were my only two detectors! And budget was key!!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  15. Hey Caleb, You hit 100 today! Congrats!šŸ„‰ And i hit 1000 today!šŸŽ– That's today's treasure!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  16. Not to say that your experience was funny Caleb! But i swear, that has got to be an episode right out of a sitcom!šŸ¤£ That is a story to tell forever! And by the way, if the rest of the coin's look like that one, you should be in good shape; at least once you get used to the smell! Could be worse, you could have heated it in the house, on the stove!!šŸ˜‚šŸ‘šŸ‘ **Save a little bottle full for GB!! šŸ¤®šŸ˜‚
  17. I'll buy you a whole bag of cheeseburgers, for your finds!šŸ¤£ Good job breaking the AQ gold barrier!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  18. At least when a lot of us started, a simple beep detector would find silver! Now it's almost nonexistent! (Unless your Simon!) Ahh, the good old days, when life was simpler, and we were younger!!šŸ¤£šŸ‘šŸ‘
  19. Bummer on the coin, but at least you got a nice band out of it!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  20. I'm sure that was just another novel place to hide coin's in the old days! Easily accessible, and no one would dare throw out mom's cooking grease back than; too many uses! And it should definitely have preserved the coins! The military used to pack brand new guns in crates full of grease to preserve them till needed! (But not cooking grease)!!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  21. Hello SG, Welcome! And good luck with the new detector! Let us know what you find!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  22. There's no way to know how much damage was done by the sulfides, but at least if a professional does the cleaning, you won't be kicking yourself for damage you may have done! That goes for the setting too! Different cleaning methods are used for different alloys; another words, the ring may need to be seperated from the coin for proper cleaning! If nothing else, at least take it in to a couple of professionals for their opinions! I'm sure they will not give you any guarantee's on the results, but they should have some expectation's of what can be done! If it is indeed a coin, it was probably near mint condition when placed in the setting! My wife has a beautiful Platinum Panda coin in a white gold setting that was a graduation gift! Good luck wading through all the suggestions here! And I'm sure that we all want to see what it is, when your done!!šŸ’šŸ‘šŸ‘
  23. And then the Equinox hit the market! And the rest are history!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  24. Wow, I think your grandfather is sitting on your shoulder, guiding you to these great finds! Keep the luck running!šŸ¤ž Especially for next year!!šŸ‘šŸ‘
  25. Nice find Rick, was that an AQ find?? I'm thinking some sort of collectible silver coin, based on the buildup, and the setting! I don't believe a platinum coin would have a concretion like that! I would have a jeweler possibly remove the coin for proper cleaning! That way, the setting won't be damaged! The setting look's custom for what it is holding, and is very nice! Let us know when it's cleaned! Post a pic!!šŸ‘šŸ‘
