I Like My First Review On The Gold Monster 1000
Norvic replied to Ridge Runner's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
You had me Chuck, but it`s the 2nd over here, unfair............ -
No worries Paul, is all in the droid in the pocket, all we have to do is swing the Z. Behind the scene stuff is done whilst I combat US cabin fever, or here in OZ...... mango fever. Trent King many thanks for the link and your input.
-
Crikey since I`ve started this thread here and on other 4ms, Trent King you are the 4th person to indicate they use such in conjunction with MDs. The GPS-mapping combination is so much more then just a safety tool, not just for the Company exploration fellows but MD users in general, even without getting into GIS. Just makes time swinging a detector so much more productive.

Digital Microscope For My Android Smartphone
Norvic replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Crikey, SS leave the poor bloody little things in the ground and let em grow................... just send me the GPS coords and I`ll water em proper......... -
Yeah, I went for 1 year plus on hot settings to JPs conservative after running around with the 19" coil for a few days for nix on ground I knew had deep gold, one hour after going JPs way on same ground, started a few days fun. Like Andyy says it is really quieter then the Xs, once you have the confidence and trust to turn it back.
-
Go with JPs conservative or Steves Insane settings or anywhere in between. All else fails reset to default, it really is a individual thingo. Myself I very rarely fiddle and against most advice very rarely bother with the startup procedure, just let the auto GB do its thing, the Z to me is a turn on and go machine not much diff to the SDC. But as your doing well I suspect you have it nailed.

Yeah, for me I am very contented with my past detecting experiences, it is a magic journey and a privilege to be part of the "electronic gold rush". But...........................score a 100oz plus piece in the future................

Question For J. P. - Zed 19" Skidplate & The GPS
Norvic replied to normmcq's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Regarding the GPS on the Z, I know the way I use a GPS is not mainstream and probably never will be, my opinion is just that my opinion it is not a criticism of Minelab. I concur with JP, the most important feature of the Z is its ability to detect gold, no way do I wish ML to buggerise around with and waste resources on the GPS at the sacrifice of ZVT technology or whatever detector tech advancements we know they are working on. I am happy to leave the GPS duties to the "droid in the pocket", ML just keep on doing what you do best. -
Question For J. P. - Zed 19" Skidplate & The GPS
Norvic replied to normmcq's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Yeah, after using a droid (smart phone) GPS with mapping software for yonks, I`ve formed the opinion the Zs GPS is akin to lighting a fire by rubbing two sticks together when you`ve a perfectly good gas lighter in your pocket. But that is my opinion, there seems to be bugger all prospectors using a GPS with mapping software as a tool to locate gold, this along with a detector is a powerful combination. ML is on track combining the GPS with the detector but they are over 20 years behind on the GPS side, not on the detecting side but, the Z is magic for sure. -
Yeah, mn90403, suspect tis not that much diff here downunder re. virgin patches, going back 30+ years and numerous time since, I can recall being told "all the virgin patches have been found" quiet frequently. But suspect one would have to spend a lifetime+ in each area to have an idea. Now how can one organise a few dozen lifetimes..........
-
Mainly in 1.... chasing virgin patches, back to old patches to ease the frustration on occasions, but now with the 19" maybe this season will spend more time on old patches, see how it pans out.

No drama here on 10.

A CNC machine that I`m currently building,(wet weather project) this with a 3D print head will, I hope, allow me to make custom coil skid plates using poly carbonate filament. Note the 3d printed parts, amazing tech 3d printers combined with public domain software written by enthusiasts, make such machines quite cheap to make, but a lot of hours. Whitebutler so far I`ve not experienced any falsing but that is a concern, will have to investigate further, and perhaps go with a different filament but poly carbonate is bloody tough.

Photo of mine purchased many years back for about $600AU, it is a MF3000 240volt made in China. Goes very well although would like if it could get a wee hotter.
-
Actually it is Phoenixs solution, follow his instructions and you have what I believe is the toughest coil cover plus an added benefit of it, it helps stop the very slight distortion in the 19" coils shape that cause a false "bump" signal when you hit the edge on rocks, trees, Missus.......... whoops I never said that.

Have had a Armstrong 777 for a few years, way to go, but ensure you don`t put in a rich specimen with solid lumps in it, I had about a 6 gram jam mine up. Not difficult to remove but if your not in attendance when such happens probably would burn out electric motor. Happy with mine.
-
Save you the trouble old fella...... just send detecting coords to me, stranger with the hipstick on each hip and I`ll check them out for you.
-
Even more chasing for me, simply because there would not be the numbers out there, thus not getting the attention gold detecting has had. This I feel would have given us more country open to prospect. Greed has driven some pretty bad huuuuman behaviour this has led to areas we once were welcome to being closed.

The Latest On The Deus V4 High Frequency Gold Coils
Norvic replied to Ringmoney's topic in XP Metal Detectors
With the Deus I have the RC wrist mounted on left wrist I find having it there I use the screen display on most signals. Recently purchased a CTX and its target trace screen gives more useful information, just a shame it cannot be placed on a wrist band as the Deus RC can. Hopefully ver4 has this feature, tis a powerful tool. -
The Latest On The Deus V4 High Frequency Gold Coils
Norvic replied to Ringmoney's topic in XP Metal Detectors
The zoom function on the XY screen is perhaps a powerful function added to the "hidden" XY screen plus if it also gives residual trace will enhance the capability to separate signals. Could be a top tool. -
Many thanks JP, your post has answered the questions I was seeking to find answers to.
