  1. Recently when I approach the treasurer for money for another detector buy, she mumbles incoherently all I get is something about that DP Steve again. Crikey we wait ages from product announcement to availability, you`d think the manufactures would show a bit of compassion, get together and spread the availability a bit evenly through the year, no way do they care about the stress they put on our marriages...........
  2. Just finished Monte Dwyers "Struberville" , he goes into some depth on this NQOZ murder in particular the court proceedings that seen the two get a lifetime sentence(15 years until possible parole) on circumstantial evidence and no body. Plus an expose of an attitude he portrays as being caused by isolation. Also the ongoing battle the wife of the victim is having to have no body, no parole legislation introduced. For those who have read Dave Wrights two top novels "Blood Gold & Revenge" and "Bush Redemption" , "Struberville" illustrates the effect isolation has on people, Dave portrays this and the consequencies so well in his novels. Top, topical but frightening reads all three books. Unfortunately "Struberville" is not available in digital, although it may be so in the US.
  3. Ah no, just got rid of all my headphones and enjoying the wireless speaker thingo, no more soggy tropical ears and you lot are advocating a back to the future thingo. Speak up what did you say............ a MN brand of headphones
  4. Pure fake news...................you know the rule the only time prospectors or fisherman tell the truth is when they call each other bull artists, photos are toooooooo heavy for the internet to handle, thus handling the weight of the finds/catches is enough....................
  5. All those phobias, biggest fear for me is I`ll be too old for the GPZ 8000.....................9000............10000
  6. Dunno could it be Steve or Paul???????????...................no no KL...... the wig....., tis KL for sure
  7. Are you ready? Like a bull at the gate Dave, watch Paul bolt when that gate opens.
  8. Early days but I also am finding the semi-auto seems to add an edge in highly variable ground, using the 19 in Extra deep, difficult over some deep ground, rest as per JPs conservative.
  9. On Ya Paul the bigun with your name on it tis just a swing away.
  10. Just received Li-ion battery & charger pack for SDC, comes recommended by a user I know. Two Li-ion batteries in holders just replace current C cells. Must be removed to charge and are a standard easy obtainable HG2 Li-ion batteries thus could carry a spare set no trouble. Looks good for info go to http://www.SDC2300Upgrades.com
  11. On the threshold at 29, I`ve found same even before this update for me tis important to keep that vol at 8 or lower, stops all that "internal machine" noise coming through and allows that stable threshold. JP on a few occasions has posted this, seems better to use an external booster rather than upping vol if you can`t get a stable threshold. But as always is a individual user thing I suspect.
  12. Was going to make a SA comment but............... ah!!!!!! bugger it psych or psycho?????????????
  13. Love it SS, live life to the hilt............. dangerously....................
  14. Often with time but, the advantageous of MLs tech upgrades to VLFs, PIs and now Zs become obvious, it is just up to us to work them out, MLs history in such have proven they are on the money. Heading off to some NQAU hot ground am somewhat positive this will prove up. Just a wee excited about that.
  15. My backyard sounds much quieter then yours Mitchel thus I really have not noticed any benefit to the new update, before upgrade a repeatable signal was always a definite same now. Locate patch smoothing seems to quieten the response a bit but have not seen evidence it allows a faster swing. Basically I`m back to before upgrade except I feel there may be an advantage to semi-auto on my ground, nothing definite yet time will tell. Heh Fred be adventurous and hook it up to PC, tis no drama............. just don`t let the smoke out
  16. No real easy way around it Aussie, tis the small scraps that are the bread and butter. The trash digging is part of the game unless you move away from old established diggings and that you will once you get the confidence but that takes time, experience and persistence.
  17. Yeah, see what you mean Jen, seems a wee tacky. After reading the "sexism-in-law" link, makes you wonder about the "shallowness" of Courts, the necessity to appear so PC. You ladies would have to wear skirts swinging a MD and no way will us males be seen wearing a veil to keep the flies and sun off....................the mind boggles
  18. Crikey that`s a "good" read, background is a wee sexist, us MD males may have a cause there to sue em, what in one sentence 3 "shes" and not a he about Seems ML want the opposition to stay in the pre-computer era.
  19. Send SS with camera over, photos are tooooo heavy for internet.
  20. The lads all keyed up in anticipation, but will the GHs survive Cyclone Paul
  21. Hey Dave, you GHs will have to bulk buy a heap of cotton wool, touch wood (head) when I say that. The Monsters a bloody fun VLF, great for the late arvo when the right arms been Zd. or Xd.
  22. Gotta agree the hot rock elimination of the auto sensitivity 11 is pretty good. With its sensitivity setting range in both auto & manual and auto HF GB the Monster, as is, while not a competitor to the Z or PIs (except on shallow scraps) jcomplements them, suspect it may be the start of a new era for the VLFs. Certainly has brought back the VLF fun to my prospecting although certainly not a weight producer. A challenge to the other manufacturers for sure.
  23. Mn true Lunk can probably find gold with a stick and blindfolded, but in time I believe it will prove anyone can find gold with the Monster, it is that kind of a detector that suits the newby through to the pro. But I`m just praising our downunder product so they can make heaps for R&D on the Z2...................
