  1. Well done. Detectors only find dust in a closet as Jim Straight would say. Mitchel
  2. I'm guilty of this also when I go back to my 'best beach' first. The truth is when things are good at that beach they could be as good or better at other beaches but I sometimes don't know. We just have to go with our instincts. Sometimes they are wrong. A few months back I hit my favorite beach and it was $$. I was the only one one night $$$! The next night there was one other $. The third night I decided to go to another beach with 'similar' position on the coast but 30 miles away. It was a bust and I hit my best beach again about 3 hours after I should have been there. When I did get there a 'squadron' of lights was all over the beach. There was a group of at least 4 (high, low, middle, blanket). I didn't want to join in the fun so I left. Was it an opportunity missed? We just have to do the best we can. Later I found out where I went to the far away beach someone had a killer night but they know their 'best beach' too!
  3. When you know a beach well you know it and you don't want to waste even an hour or two on getting another one to produce but this is exactly what you have to do sometimes.
  4. Those are amazing for the east and at this late of a stage in detecting. Do you have any idea what happened to these nuggets? I mean are they in a museum some place? They should be. Mitchel
  5. That is quite a beach to be able to support so many guys. As I say sometimes the targets are like the crabs on Deadliest Catch. They move along the bottom together and you have to set your trap (detect) when they are there. The silver on a beach is amazing. I can find a ton of clad on certain days an NONE of it is silver. 6. We would use scoops and get several species of shark teeth. Many of them were broken. I still have a big bag of them in a storage garage. Tiger shark teeth were nice looking for pendants. The Megas were worn by some but for show if you are a local. Let me know how popular it is. I went near the pier. There were many examples in the shop on the pier but that was a few hurricanes ago. Some of the phosphate teeth were bleached out and it can be almost impossible to get access. Good luck.
  7. Joe, You forgot a Florida favorite. Sharks Teeth Back in the 70s I lived in Punta Gorda. I would drive up to Venice, Florida and look for Sharks Teeth. I've got one I found that was a real prize at about 5 inches but it is nothing like the teeth they would get from the phosphate pits. Mitchel
  8. The dollar is dropping. I think the price will open at one price and then within a year the price will go up.
  9. I would say that Minelab represents value at this particular point in their evolution. There is very little chance that the 6000 would be a DOA detector. So, what do you do with your other products that got you here? You keep and reposition them so that your new technology wiz kid can take advantage of lower hardware and software prices and you build in value against your other products. Steve and others have built the case for that value in many different ways and it is most compelling for those who don't have a 2300, a 5000 or ZVT for hunting gold already. Since you can't swing multiple detectors at the same time ... which one do you trade in? Which one do you keep? Which one is the most redundant? Will you find the same small gold with one or two passes of the coil with a 6000 that it takes you multiple detectors to find now including an 800 or maybe a GM?
  10. Gerry, I'll take a book. I've had occasion to email with Pieter a few times but we never met. Mitchel
  11. This is an interesting little story about Mineral Park, Arizona. It tells about a geologist who was told to find ore or be fired. There is a bit of history about fine gold recovery also. https://kdminer.com/news/2021/feb/06/mohave-county-geology-concentrate/
  12. I've seen a video and pictures of the 15 CC and a couple of 3 gram nuggets have been found out on the flogged patches! It looks like this 17 CC is going to do it for a few others.
  13. What does luxury have to do with it? He has cracked feet!
  14. There is an Air B&B for RVs that advertises here on Steve's site.
  15. What arrived is not what you bought. I know you can't tell everything from a picture but I don't think you would have bought it if it looked the way it is now. Raw is better to me. I would ask for a price adjustment for sure! Mitchel
  16. Well done Jason. I won't be rolling up on that land any time soon. Someone should let the club (GSSN) and Dave know you are out of there. Good luck with the construction and hope the final price gets you a nice RV. I'll be very interested in knowing if you think the 6000 is better than the 7000X. I hope you keep the 7000 to compare. Mitchel
  17. Don't most gold miners carry them with them everywhere ... especially the pubs? 🤪
  18. Have you ever wondered about gold mining on the Russian/Chinese border? This is quite a story. Use your imagination and it is probably worse! What men will do for gold. https://www.rbth.com/history/333347-russians-secretly-set-up-california
