  1. Nice, Cap'n! I see you got a 6 year pin too. Sorry it's all clad, no nickels? You dug pull tabs... My wife's daughter owns one of those old schools, it's now her house. Hopefully I'll get to detect it.
  2. I just did the V0.7 update, if you plan to do it use the instructions here: https://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/en/ba/the-blog/deus-ii-v0-7-update-instructions.php Might save you a problem. They also discuss the changes and show a silencer graph. There is a minor omission, you have to go into the update screen from the splash screen before turning on and plugging in the WS6. There you can select WS6. Always hated stuff like that or worse. The instructions for some IBM systems were like: 1. Push the big red button. 2. Before you push the big red button, make sure the power is off... 🤣
  3. Welcome to the forum! We look forward to your exploits. 🙂 Great you posted finds already. I've done much worse than that. 😀 I see you have a Tesoro, there is a dedicated bunch that loves those. 👍 You will fit in well!
  4. I can confirm it's the two plastic prongs or I would call them "wipers" 😀 guess the set screw was V0.6 🤣
  5. This is a great review, and I agree with most of what you like and dislike except the backphones. 😀 I like them. Thanks for posting your impressions!
  6. It does seem like a good shop. They ship quickly. 👍
  7. You have to be careful with the 3D printed stand, they want you to squeeze the cuff legs to insert them, and mine snapped off when the legs slid in. 🤬 I super glued the broken piece and all is well.
  8. Got this thing today, it's cool but like the butterfly clip it tries to push the coil cover off. 🤬 It's a little better...
  9. You can get the WS4 headphone adapter right now for the WS6 at colonial metal detectors, got mine for $18 shipped. 🙂 I used PayPal: https://www.colonialmetaldetectors.com/xp-deus-ws4-wireless-headphone-adapter.html
  10. That is an awesome relic. It's civil war era: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_New_York_Mounted_Rifles_Regiment
  11. You're not alone, I was hunting a beach last year and found a small jeweler's anvil. 😀 Bronze diseased IHP for size I have no idea why that would be found in the surf. 🤔
  12. Probably one of the most interesting posts I've seen! That would be a great thread on its own. 👍
  13. It's really small, has about 6 diamond chips in it. It was part of a larger one that broke off. 🙂 I'll weigh it but I don't think it is even a gram.
  14. Better late than never! 👍I want to use the bone phones sometime for land hunting, turkey season would be a good time. 😀 Just want to know my options. 🤔
  15. Hey Jeff, Aren't the WS4 Clip Jack Adaptor and Support also for the WS6? It's easier to find them that way, and seems to be the case. 🙂
  16. I like the WS6. Maybe I have the right kind of head 😀 anything that gives me situational awareness is a good thing. Had no problems even at the beach with the roaring surf on a ridiculously windy day. There's something good about that +85db then. Use OnX Hunt. It's a heck of an app. The property lines aren't perfect if you purchase land records of your state, but it's affordable and simple to track and keep pics of your finds, and might keep you out of trouble. I hope someday they will come out with a "Metal" edition 😁
  17. Nice hunt and great detail, GB. 👍 Here id'a mowed the darn place myself, and called the county supervisor asking him why the heck there were signs like that. 🤬 Glad you got a silver coin, I would have used my Quest pinpointer to casually leave the big nail behind, if I can't see it, I don't feel obligated to take it with me 🙄 😀
  18. 😀 It will always be both, but in different places. That Equinox with the 10x5 is a hot knife through butter as long as there is no interference. It's also much harder to screw up than the Deus, it's more of a grab and go. 👍 I can't really say yet which has more depth. The 10x5 really surprises me.
  19. Those things drove me nuts, that and gum wrappers. 1-8 is dig all, 12-15 also, and honestly anything between 1 and 16, the 16-18s are usually silver, but also sinkers. I got a big thanks from a volunteer group for getting the bottle caps and sharp wire, they really appreciate us. I pretty much talked to anyone that approached me except people that were sarcastic, unlike some people 🙄 all the other detectorists were furtive and secretive. If this were home I'd have got 10 more permissions 😁
  20. Thanks for the vote of confidence! 🙂 Yes, since at least one person is interested 😁 I'll do it when I get home, got a 600 mile 12 hour trip ahead. 🤔 True I guess, the 600 cuts off at 15kHz, it's been useful in campgrounds but was useless here. I had to stay in Beach 1 and lower sensitivity near the pier and hotel. After that I could crank it up. The Deus is quiet nearly everywhere. 🙂
  21. Got out early for one more day. Today I really wanted to find gold, I was glad the tide was with me. Beautiful day today, best one since we got here. Today I brought the Equinox to wrap it up. The tide was really low, almost to the end of the pier. There was no water, just a sheen over the sand. I zigzagged the flats hoping to find anything, this place really gets hit a lot because it is one of Georgia's few beaches. Day before I came to this beach the first time a YouTuber got a gold ring. Got a quarter way out and a couple of pennies, but kept on. Each day I can only hunt 4 or 5 hours. In order to find anything here you have to cover a lot of ground. There were 2 other detectorists out there, I watched them to see where they found stuff, looking for the "lines". I got two quarters in the same hole, really crazy tones but enough 30/31 to dig it. Searched the hotel side for a bit, really didn't find much, so I went over to the other side. Long story short, here's the take, not very much. Only got a dollar in change, a brass bushing, and a piece of broken jewelry with a little sparkle in it in the shape of a "1". They could be diamond chips but they will be hard to test. It could be a gold setting, it ID'd about 5-7. One of the other guys detecting said he found next to nothing, I probably did a bit better, but I bid goodbye to this beach for another year. 🙂 Trash was minimal, I don't get much with the Equinox. However, would I bring the Equinox to this beach again? The answer is no. There was so much EMI near the pier and in front of the hotel I couldn't even find a single frequency that worked without lowering sensitivity to 20. Ended up running Beach 1 most of the time, and had to keep noise cancelling. I found I could raise sensitivity a bit when I was far away from the pier. The Deus was so quiet out here it will be the obvious choice around hotels. The Equinox located stuff as deep as the Deus, but the noise was horrendous. I did pretty well here but it's no campground. 😀
  22. One more day, we're out of here tomorrow. Got one more wrap-up post. 😁 Can't wait to get back home to the relics, got a new permission with a cool story if the landowner will let me divulge any of it. Otherwise I still expect to post some cool stuff. 😀 No one has ever approached this guy, he is really a generous person. Big farm. Big house.
  23. No doubt, and the better forged, the more it will false. 🙂 I was finding terms of what I called "field oysters", they were plow tines, they look like an oyster shell. Depending on its size yours could be part of a field slitter of some sort. Look like it has a bolt or pin on the widest end, a replaceable part.
