  1. Did you get those rubber port covers from the same source as the right angle USB cable? A little additional mod I did for a bit more stability when setting it down.
  2. Here’s a few pics of the power bank I chose.... Powertech from electronics company Jaycar $100AU. Also have two of these 10,000 mah packs, less than half the weight of the Powertech at 220 grams. II I bought the E1500 and Detech 8” round from Nenad, here in Adelaide.
  3. Same experience for me. I had my original one replaced under warranty as it was considered “super sensitive “.... just falsing off in the air all the time. The replacement Accupoint works a treat and runs fine at the default sensitivity of 7 in my soil. I like the sound it produces via it’s own speaker, but for some reason the audio when paired to my Legend headphones sounds distorted. It maybe the headphones themselves, so I will need to find some other suitable BT ‘phones to confirm this.
  4. That’s for sure.....here is my collection, all self made from a plough disc.
  5. Nice specie their dude.... looks like a duck 🦆. What coil were you using and what depth did you hit it at?
  6. Well, after another session (at the beach this time), I have come to the conclusion that my Accupoint is faulty. Initially it was performing ok after pairing it up with the method mentioned above, but after half an hour of use it started to act up, ie, it would sound off with continuous falsing in the wet sand and would continue once held in the air. The audio through the headphones was distorted. To make matters even weirder I got the “disconnect “ prompt and looked at the screen on my Legend and noticed that it had shut down..???? What the hell’s going on? Rebooted everything and started again.... no probs for awhile and started searching again. After another couple of on off cycles with the pinpointer the same thing happened. I can only think that the Bluetooth in the Accupoint is causing these issues as my Legend has been flawless and has never shut down spontaneously before.... and yes my battery had full charge at the time. I’ll be returning it to my distributor (Nenad).
  7. Not a bad idea popeye. If you know any in your neck of the woods start up a thread. I’m sure a little PR for them would be appreciated. Here is my local master craftsman down here in South Aus. http://www.thegoldsmithery.com.au/ Add him to the list if a thread gets up.....
  8. I certainly found a great goldsmith, his craftsmanship is top notch.
  9. Not precisely a nugget ring but a ring I had made for Mrs. Bootscrape from a small parcel of gold nuggets I pulled from a prospecting trip to Tibooburra in Oz.. The gemstone is opal from Coober Pedy. My brownie points went through the roof when I slipped it on her finger. 😍
  10. My first hunt at the beach for this coming season and thought I had scored some precious yellow when I saw this shiny item in the scoop. It sure had the weight of gold. I quickly ran the coil over the hole and spoil pile again and got another repeatable mid tone and out popped it’s twin!! I immediately thought, no this can’t be real.... two gold pieces from the one hole on my first day out. Sure enough, they turned out to be very shiny yellow brass, much to my disappointment. So they have now been assigned to keeping my other metal critters company.
  11. Yep, have installed 1.13 so I’ll give Tom’s method a try...... it probably is just a sequencing thing. What about the audio quality through the headphones though? Everyone happy with theirs....
  12. Sorry phrunt, but that’s old stock.... not with the new carbon fibre middle shaft and 12” x 9” elliptical coil.
  13. I have recently acquired an Accupoint to pair with my Legend headphones, ( which it does ), but I’m finding that after finishing a hunting session and then firing up the Legend and headphones again after a break, that the Accupoint needs to go through the pairing process all over, ie, it doesn’t seem to stay paired to the ‘phones in tandem with the detector. It’s a bit frustrating and time consuming. Also I’m not getting the crisp audio that the pointer has with it’s speaker through the headphones. The headphone’s audio from the Accupoint is what I would call “echoing or scratchy”. Any thoughts....
  14. mn90403..... whatever you do, don’t catch a cold or the flu. You do not want to have to cough, at all. Heavy coughing can even cause a hernia, so imagine the stress to a fresh incision there.
  15. Thanks for sharing that geof...gives one some perspective of the scale of the gold rush days of yesteryear. Some amazing images there.
  16. Well done for conquering your nemesis patch mate.... I know how it is. My nemesis patch is called “South Australia “.... if you know what I mean.
  17. There are plenty of shoes out there with NO metal in them.... just saying.
  18. Ain’t that the truth Chase.... it certainly applies to my favourite button, found near a 1840’s era surveyor’s hut for a newly settled town. It is a coat button of the Protector Fire Insurance Co. of London circa 1830. A retired fireman in England is an avid collector of this firefighting memorabilia and offered me a tidy sum for it. How it got from London to the unsettled Aussie bush would make for a great read. The new owner has documented his collection in a catalogue. My find is item No.4 in this picture. I feel like I have made a tiny contribution to posterity.
  19. Nice Glenn.... yeah I love those old makers plates, real stories attached to them. Here is one I unearthed in an old farm site. Coach builder’s plate.
  20. That’s a sweet find there Chase..... no thoughts of giving it a cleanup? Or do you keep them as is.
  21. I’m curious to see what unusual relics all you seasoned hunters have recovered over time. This is my favourite oddity..... a late 1800’s brass spike from a Pickelhaube (pith helmet). South Australian police uniform issue.
  22. Great job there SS.... what did you attack it with first up? Almost looks like gold. Gotta be quality brass.👍
  23. When I found these live 357 magnum rounds at my local beach on the towel line, about 6 inches deep, I was hoping to find an accompanying gold Rolex watch or Cartier diamond bracelet or some such treasure. No such luck....🤣
  24. Chinese arrowheads..... what next..?😂
  25. Cheers, I wasn’t aware of the symbol for liberty aspect. From what I researched on my button, ( British Button Society ), it’s definitely from a fox hunting jacket, but even those experts couldn’t ID the maker. I may have a rare one of..... Here’s a pic of the backmarks with some tailors pencil applied. You can clearly see the symbols... crossed swords, archer’s bow?.... axe? and definitely a crown. It’s got a lot of experts stumped. If any of you relic hunters have any clues, I would love to know. Thanks and apologies if I’m imposing on dogodog’s thread.
