  1. I was wearing my headphones thanks to Eric's post and still had a lady insist on asking me questions as I ignored her. I FINALLY took off my headphones and she she asked me "is that a metal detector?" I had to put my headphones on and walk away. She was pissed at me!
  2. Either you have massive hands or it must have been a children's ww2 camp? Nice finds for sure!
  3. That's a great find! A good weight of silver for the poke.
  4. .77 grams. Nice finds! Wish I was prospecting for gold nuggets more often and I would get an Axiom. Thanks for the contest!
  5. Lol. That's pretty funny but my pedicure looks much better! Dirty nails and hairy toes. Ouch! My wife grabbed that toe ring as soon as I walked in the door!
  6. We discussed it. There are no hotels near the beach it was found and nothing posted on the local craigslist. Like midalake said, without an engraving it's impossible to find the owner unless they post a lost and found ad with a description. Also, apologies for the sideways and upside down pictures. On my tablet I don't have the same options while posting as I do at home with my pc.
  7. Went out to another local beach this morning for a couple hours. This beach is crowded year around so early is the way to go. Even with going at sun up, I still get people that want to just chit chat. Had one guy that would not quit. He even started showing me videos of him paragliding. Had to listen to him for over half an hour. Nice guy, but ugh! For only a couple hours got a few dollars in change and 2 gold rings. One is a tiny toe ring, but 14k (gold is gold!) and another men's band. It's marked Dazzling Rock 10k. It's white gold with a lot of stones that I have to assume are cz. The men's ring was at the towel line and the toe ring on the slope. Might head out with the family to the beach across the street for some paddle boarding and snorkeling. Might even give a try at detecting neck deep! Good luck out there!
  8. Thanks to all that have replied! Slater has been hunting for a few years now and usually only lasts a couple hours. He found a small "lucky" 925 silver ring last year and wears it all the time. He's been out lots of times and found nothing so it's awesome for him to find the bracelet and especially without help from me. The silver ring is on his little finger in the below picture of him. I'm not the jealous type. I just love treasure hunting with other people whether it's for gold nuggets or jewelry. I'm usually happier for the other person! A few months ago we brought some friends to Maui and they wanted tot detect. My friend found a men's wedding band his very first target, unfortunately it was only tungsten carbide. Gerry we got a picture of the bracelet just for you! Good luck to everybody and happy hunting!
  9. Ha! I had the same experience today. Even had one guy start showing me videos of him paragliding. Half an hour later I was finally back to detecting. By the time I got into the groove, there were so many people and kids screaming and surf waves crashing I gave up. Found a couple keepers I'll post later. Ugh, I think I'll wear headphones tomorrow! Glad to read your post!
  10. We arrived in Maui around lunch time today. My wife and I went to the grocery store to stock up for the week and while there find out the key fob battery is dead and can't lock the rental Jeep. Fortunately we can still start the car. Get to the house drop off the groceries and I have to run out to the hardware store to get a battery for the key fob. Get it fixed and get home to a note that my wife and son went to the beach and meet them there. I get on my swim suit and go to the closet to grab one the the Equinox 600's out of the closet and only 1 is there. My 15 year old already had one of them at the beach! I grab the other and head over. I drop my stuff and see him down the beach at one of my favorite spots. Watching him for a bit I see he has excellent coil control with it flat to the ground at the end of his swings and overlapping as he moves. Doing everything he was taught. He sees me and comes immediately over with a huge smile on his face! Before I could even ask he says loudly "I found something!" He pulls out this solid bracelet and hands it to me. Looking at it I said I think it's gold but without my glasses I can't read the inside. He grabs it and reads Na Hoku 14K. Holy crap put that thing in your pocket! If anybody asks if you found anything just tell them coins and bottle caps ( not wanting to attract attention). It's very unlikely it was lost this day. The last thing I need is a crowd gathering to look. He puts it in his pocket and heads over to show Mom. We got back to the house and looked on line. $1,549.00 retail! The bracelet looks new. What a score! Fits Mom perfectly!
  11. Thanks for all the insight on the new detector Gerry. You did very well. I would like to see a video of your hunting methods in the water. From your pictures it doesn't look like there is much surf action where you were hunting?
  12. Jeez just get out and use an equinox for a while...Clean out an area of every target and when the manticore finally arrives you can see what the equinox missed. Better than sitting at a computer complaining about it!
  13. When the much awaited GPX6000 was released, it was the same situation as the Manticore is now. Very limited quantities and dealers only received a few from the first shipment. Gerry called me and said he only received 3 detectors (2 or 3 if I remember correctly) and rather than keep one for himself he was offering one to me since I was one of the first to pre-order from him. He was even offering it up to me over his training staff. Since I was not able to immediately use it, I declined his offer and wait for the next batch to arrive. He had a pre-scheduled training in Rye Patch the following weekend and I am sure he would have loved to use it there, but instead offered it to me.
  14. Sweet! I'm in. Would be fun to coordinate a DP member hunt somewhere near Nevada City?
  15. Fantastic!!! Get some close up pictures of that big gold for us!
  16. I'm looking forward to getting one. Hoping to find a dealer that can fill my order before I leave for Hawaii after Christmas. I would sure like to try diving with it!
  17. The marketing video shows the mInelab logo vertically and it also looks just like a z.
  18. I'm not in the market for a new gold prospecting detector and will probably sell the gpx6000 I purchased since I haven't even turned it on since purchasing it, but what I noticed in the ad they had the Minelab logo vertically positioned and it looks like a Z. Not to mention all the 2's look like z's. I really don't care what they release I just want a detector that I can use underwater without worry of it leaking. I bought the deus ii, but really would rather stay with a platform that I already know.
  19. North Yuba is awesome, but mostly claimed up. Did you find a public area to snipe?
  20. The email I received was directly from Blu3 and it said 30% off and free shipping. It didn't state if it was US only. I would give it a try!
  21. I have both the Nemo and Nomad. Unfortunately I have to send the Nomad back for the recall. Both are awesome. They are having a Black Friday sale of 30% off. That is a great deal! I might just buy a second Nemo for the kids to use with me.
  22. Doesn't help if a USPS employee opens the package and steals your detector...
  23. Did you send it Priority mail with or without insurance? I swore never to end anything of value through USPS again since having my package of gold and platinum stolen by a USPS employee and they didn't cover my loss even with insurance...
