Bob, I ran across this one the other day.  Claims to be waterproof, made by Makro.  Check it out http://www.makrodetector.com/makro-pointer-metal-detector.html

There is also the old original vibrating pinpointer, the Vibra-Probe. It is a PI based unit so not as sensitive to small stuff but is waterproof to 100 feet. http://www.amazon.com/Treasure-Vibra-Probe-580-PinPointer/dp/B0032D0ADO

I do not use the audio on my Garrett and so I sealed the speaker shut with glue. It is now waterproof, but I do not know for how deep or how long!

Steve,

Interesting, more detector products from Turkey! Makro offers some machines that look very similar to Nokta. Thanks for the link.

I'm looking for a new pinpointer, and I'd like to find a good one that will work underwater. White's advertises the TRX as weatherproof but not waterproof.  I've also read about people putting their pinpointer in a sealed baggy and using the vibe feature underwater.

I'll only be water detecting maybe one hour out of a hundred so the waterproof feature isn't an absolute requirement but all things being equal I'd prefer a waterproof pinpointer.

Just wondering if anyone has any comments or suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob

A while back Shelton posted a video on the X-Pointer, the normal X-Pointer is not waterproof, but they have or will be coming out with a waterproof version soon.

Here's a link to the topic, and a link to the website.

It may make a neat little crevice tool but jury is out.

I got one the other day. Will be going out tomorrow to play with it sniping bedrock. Took a 4 grain piece of lead shot and mixed it in with some AZ dirt in a gold pan and was easily able to find it. The TRX started giving me a signal about an 1" 1/2 away and naturally got stronger the closer I got. From an inch on down the signal was very strong. Hopefully it will do the same on gold.  :D

I love the TRX for nugget hunting.

Very sensitive, very little pressure or ground falsing and does not interfere with the GPX5000.

Starts to false pretty bad when the batteries get low or if you use it to close to the big coil.  It was odd because the TRX started to false before the GPX5000 did.  With the other pinpointers, I found that the GPX would start to freak out before the pinpointer.
