Another Modded Gpx5000 Comparison Video

Recommended Posts

Maurice Coppola (a very well known Golden Triangle prospector) has another video comparing various detectors and coils. Well worth a watch.

We’ll I guess my 5000 ain’t missing much with the correct settings   Modified  stronger not modified ain’t missing much now we need To do A speci test  like

to see that  no detector does it all but I’ll stick to the modes2200 and a 5000 and a gold master  for the piles  but I am tempted honestly to modify the 5000 ?

When you say gold master are you meaning the Whites Goldmaster or did you mean to say Gold Monster?

Nice, he's not going to miss any coke cans with his modded 5000.

Someone should give the man a 17" CC, 22" CC or the monster 32" CC to try on that 7000, if he's willing to mod a 5000 by heavily changing its main PCB you would think he would be willing to give a coil cable a snip and join 5 wires.  It'd be interesting how well then he does at finding coke cans.

I have no idea why he's surprised an 18" Mono does better than the 25" DD coil, it's rather obvious the 18" is the bigger coil when it comes to depth of targets.  That's where the GPZ is impressive, it's DOD coils often keeping up with or exceeding large monos on this big deep targets.

I find these mods very interesting though, they're expensive but I guess it's not easy to mod the PCB and the research that's gone into making a detector better than Minelab could at the time.  I might give one a go one of these days, the new generation of mods seem far superior to the early ones.

A crushed coke can is a fairly good analogy to a less-than-ideal gold conductor. A solid lump of aluminium or lead would be heard far deeper. Aluminium is of course, in the same conduction range as gold, but because the can is not solid, its similar perhaps to a large specie.... Almost 1 meter depth is pretty good. Yeah some X coils on his 7000 would be an interesting comparison for sure....

The modded 5000 is a no brainer, I reckon, if you want to specialise in big deep gold. The proof is right there. Hands down the best hit rate. Many would have that 18" NF too. So put it to use.

No real surprise that the 6000 struggled.

Yes, X coil CC's on the 7000 would have to be his next demo. That would be very interesting.

I expect why this block of Aluminium was created to mimic a larger Nugget of Gold for testing at inground test sites down your way.

GPX 5000, GPX 6000, GPZ 7000, Coil Air Tests
In pursuit of large gold I have experimented with winding some test coils and did some air testing. Results are with my poor hearing and varying EMI conditions. But the measurements work for my personal comparison testing. I selected to use a USA $50 dollar 99% gold coin and a 4 inch square flat aluminum sheet that was cut from the side of a soda can as test targets. They are much easier targets than large gold nuggets but I wanted solid consistent targets for comparison purposes.  The measurements for the GPZ -34”x 17” are preliminary and will be finalized in Nevada this spring. I am working on a new GPZ 7000 coil and a new GPX 6000 coil. Since Litz wire is expensive it is reused for the next brainstorm that wakes me up.LOL
