  2. Effort & reward. Good for you. Kind of what has to be done these days as the "easy" gold has mostly gone. Just like you are doing, results can be had by going back to old patches raking & scraping & detecting. Moving rocks too. The days have gone of just waving a coil over the old dig out/throw out piles or exposed ground & expecting to find gold. Now a matter of whittling those piles & ground down. No gold is easy gold but if the effort is coughing up gold that is just the dangling carrot you need to keep you enthused. D4G
  3. i like the color of those nuggets. looks high purity. we call that placering. looks like its working well for you. yes, its getting warm out. last weekend i was out beeping. i sat down to take a break on nice looking sitting rock, it was the only shady spot around. a timber rattler 3 feet away was kind enough to give a buzz to let me know he was there first. it sounded much different from the diamondbacks im used to. more of a buzz than a rattle. only the third one i have seen. snakes are up and about.
  4. What gold have you found with the Evo, any large bits at depth as per your reason for getting it? Cheers D4G
  5. I’ve recently bought a MANTICORE and am wondering if any of the EQUINOX coils will work ( ie the 6 inch, the COILTEC 6x10 , or the 15. X 9…. Any info is appreciated….
  6. Keep up the fight, it's the only way to win, you'll be back digging soon enough!
  7. Today
  8. That stinks. Certainly well used & abused. I feel your pain. D4G
  9. I also don't know why the "cameraman" didn't help distract the snake!! That's not a big Eastern Diamondback, they get up to around 8' long and about as big around as a man's leg, they are here where I live, most of them you see (if you see them) are about as big as the one in the video but I have seen a very big one dead on the road many years ago and I don't think they can get any bigger than the dead one I saw, it stretched across one lane of the road and entirely blocked that lane....HUGE, I have heard from old timers around here that one that big can break your leg if it strikes/bites you.
  10. Its reception wasn't bad due to the detector, it just never took off, it didn't become a popular detector that people are raving about, there are not big active groups of users on social media or forums showing their finds and talking about it like with other similar detectors. It was priced far too high in Australia which didn't help and lowering the price significantly has increased sales a little but when you compare to the competitor it's an insignificant piece of the market it's getting. VLF's by their very nature sell more, cheaper machines with a bigger customer base, so chances are higher it can succeed, I'd love to see big groups of people forming talking about and showing their finds with the Storm, that would be awesome. If the Garrett section of this forum runs hot for the next few years with Storm posts, that would be fantastic, and that's what Garrett should be hoping to achieve, and that's what the competitors have done.
  11. I am amazed he didn't get bitten. And the person with the camera couldn't just distract the snake away with a big stick or something?
  12. Didn’t realize it was bad. Seemed like a lot of positive responses to its performance? Australia is always a hard market since the import tarries add loads to the price due to competition with a “native” company (minelab). Hopefully the “storm” pans out in the end, I definitely love the performance of Minelabs latest offerings but would love to get behind a product that is actually made at home instead of the offshore produced “clone” machines that Minelab and Nokta are hammering us with.
  13. Ok, thanks for following up! Happy beeping!
  14. There are lots of rattlers in Dreamwind Canyon. We have to be careful not to end up in this guys situation.
  15. I don't think they have much to worry about there, I don't think people were buying a lot of the AT Series in recent years and there has been a healthy second-hand market to get the detectors at even cheaper prices, but you're right there, the announcement of the Storm would completely kill AT Series sales so by doing so in advance like this they've taken that hit on the sales that remained. I can't help think these announcements are a delay tactic, they probably had all intentions of releasing the detector at various points along the way and something is preventing that. It's good they want to make sure it's right before release though, it's really their make-or-break moment. They're either competitive with the other players or fall by the wayside, gradually turning into a First Texas. They managed to pull themselves out of the doldrums with their prospecting detectors going from the AT Gold and ATX to having the 24k and Axiom bringing themselves back into the game, if they can at least achieve an Equinox type detector at the right price (don't try overprice it again Garrett, didn't work on your recent venture) then that's enough to keep them being in the top manufacturers and not just another detector company. There will be a point that the generic detectors out of China can meet or exceed detectors like the First Texas models, and the current AT Series, that time has likely already passed in many cases, so they don't want to be a big brand name competing against generic detectors for sales, they want to remain a big brand name that the generics can't compete with for performance and they're only competing with the top manufacturers. I think they can achieve this and they'll make their AT Series customer base happy and perhaps grow their market share with the Storm.
  16. Hi Chris one ring and the two small items silver the other ring stainless steel I'm also dying to go back to the beach so much more to test on the Versa thanks again to Dave,Nino and you
  17. It’s just marketing. If we’re going to fault Gerrett then we have to fault phone, car, … companies. It’s common practice to keep details secret until announcement day, Apple Phone. The up-and-coming announcement day may/not be the release date. This is the now generations, including me. I don’t want to hear about it unless I can get it right now. Maybe one-day shipping is OK. Any longer … One of the most famous marketing blunders was the Osborne 2 computer. They announced it way in advance. People quit buying the Osborne 1. Didn’t have enough income to build it, went out of business.
  18. Survival of the fittest. Hopefully the months it was there was enough for people to understand and ensure they know their registered email address and can figure out how to change their display name where it asks for login to their email address 🙂 That's all that needs done. If the emails no longer valid you can still login with it, but should change it for reasons like if you have to recover a forgotten password, or if the forum needs to send you an important noficiation. It's a good change for security reasons, and who knows what needs done in that regard over the coming years, things are only getting worse.
  19. In my defense, I wasn't complaining. I posted humorous stuff. Although humor is subjective 😁
  20. I don't think Garrett had any intention of giving us any details at all. I believe they just realized their mistake of calling the video a Premiere, so they changed it to Teaser Part 1. I believe that because as soon as it was aired, people immediately began with the pissed off comments. Garrett just kept replying with "More info coming next week". In other words, Garrett could have immediately given some details, but chose not to. Even with the massive amount of angry comments that followed for days, Garrett still didn't give any details. On a side note, someone replied to Garrett's "More info next week" comment with: "What do you plan to show next week for us? Armrest or charging cable?" 🤣
  21. Ya know, Steve, you must be doing something right if this is all people have to complain about...LOL Jim
  22. Hey Gary, Great to hear from you, and that you are still battling back, though sorry you're still going though all this. Makes my 6 month wait on weather look like child's play. Thanks for putting some perspective back in my life. Hope you get back to detecting soon...I'm sorta jonesin' for some beach result pics....LOL Jim
  23. Yep no tracking ground balance, my sensitivity of 24 to 26 may impact the battery run time and possibly the size of the coil, my test garden is quite contaminated so plenty of ferous and non ferous targets setting of the machine. My sensitivity levels are easily achievable in my soil and do help in locating targets where I hunt as well as hitting targets in my test garden.
  24. good on you , looks like it was worth the effort .
  25. If you get the pendant and can't find the chain--say to yourself "...can't be much of a chain if it broke..." and press on...😁 c
  26. I noticed this too. Makes me wonder if something didn’t happen at the last minute.
