  1. Simply amazing! Mark needs to be buying lottery tickets, he is on a roll.
  2. What fun! Now we have something to praise , berate , or speculate about besides Nokta/Makro. I have always been partial to PI's anyway. Merton
  3. Klunker, when I said I know where to go with it I was referring to all your patches! LMAO
  4. The codicil/disclaimer-"SNEAK PEAK MORE INFORMATION COMING SOON! Minelab GPZ 7000 Metal Detector NEW GOLD TECHNOLOGY - UP TO 40% DEEPER* *When compared to the average performance of the GPX 5000 in testing environments. Actual performance depends on prevailing conditions Still a hell of a claim..........
  5. Forgive me for scoffing but this sounds like some B.S. advertising claim that a desk jockey at Codan has come up with. There is plenty of info on the web that details the extreme amounts of battery power it would take to realize even modest gains in depth using current PI technology. So they have much better battery tech or new timings maybe. I can see where they may possibly achieve that claim only in a certain timing or certain conditions but? Is that 40% in all timings on all types of gold in all types of ground? Does that claim take into account coil size? I truly hope I am the one full of B.S. and this is not just advertising hype as I know where to go if it is the truth Merton
  6. Will it be able to use the 11 coils I have for my 4500? Just don't know what to think although I kind of expected this move to the CTX or similar housing. Shasta Gold Hunter- Perhaps you are failing to factor in the difference in mineralization between Nor Cal and Australia. What Johnathon reported may be outstanding depth for his location. Merton
  7. I like that Nokta is thoughtful enough to offer a solid cover for a spider coil. Merton
  8. Once again customer service excellence delivers real world benefits to detectorists. I can only hope that they are made of a durable plastic that will allow prospectors to scrub their coils. Why do manufacturers deliver coils with covers made of sub-par materials? Nugget Finders coils are a prime example. I have an 11x17 that they charge $25+/- for a coil cover and I can easily scrub a hole in the cover in a couple weeks requiring repair with epoxy. What a P.O.S.! I wish Minelab offered a larger selection of coils that did not weigh a ton I would eschew Nugget Finder and Coiltek forevermore. Dilek, please forgive me for straying off topic into a mini-rant! I am very excited about your participation on this and other forums and your present and upcoming products. Can you tell us yet the KHz Gold Racer will be? Merton
  9. Thanks for fixing that link Steve. I find myself puzzled by Reg's comments about the area of detection with concentric coils while in discrimination mode. I fail to see how increased depth can shrink the detection area from the area of the outer coil to the area of the inner coil. Other than the pregnant V detection pattern becoming smaller the deeper the target is. But that is not what I thought Reg was alluding to?
  10. The Golden Bear is cool but nothing compares to BIG gold. Absolutely beautiful.
  11. Klunker- your snide insinuations and accusations have no basis in fact! I merely asked a simple question, hoping you could illustrate the workings of this discriminating PI for our edification. I warned you before of the effects of indulging in high test Humboldt Ganja and the likely hood that you would experience extreme paranoia. Kenny- if in fact Klunker has been chosen by Dilek as an early tester of the hybrid PI/VLF (only my supposition) can you at least try to get him on decaf instead of high test? We only ask for a succinct analysis not the flowery prose he is so well known for. Merton
  12. I did not want to get off topic on another post so I figured I better start a new one to find out the answer to a reply Klunker made " My thanks to Nokta for communicating with the folks that actually use detectors. Gold brick;- I have a P.I. detector that has nearly 100% accurate discrimination." O.K. klunker, I'll bite . Although I know it is probably a mistake and I am gonna get Klunkered for some reason I can not help but ask the question " Pray tell, what PI would that be, Klunker?" I think I am gonna regret getting up this morning............
  13. Hey Steve, Have you ran the Fors Core in hot ground? And if so did the Ground Grab adjust your GB close enough you could hunt without extraneous noise? I am hoping Racer does a good job of this in really hot ground as on both my Deus and GB Pro the Ground Grab always seems to be a little off. With the Deus you can manually tune it to quiet while pumping but typically in a few feet the ground changes enough to be noisy again requiring you to go back into the menu..........it's frustrating..........when can I buy a PI with decent discrimination? LOL Merton
  14. I was trying to figure out the ground balance system on Racer. On pg 13 in the manual is a graph which I can't seem to copy and paste and beside it the statement- "Manual ground balance functions within the range of 0-99. However, each value covers 5 steps used for fine tuning within itself and these steps are indicated as multiples of 20 in the Ground Phase indicator shown on the display. For example, ground balance value shown on the side is 70.80." This seems to mean that each 1 GB value is further divided into 5 values so as to be able to obtain a more exacting manual GB in real hot dirt. If so I would compare this to the manual GB on the Deus. This makes me wonder if the GB system on the Racer is the same as on conventional VLFs or uses a system similar to the one on the Deus (which no ones seems to be able to decipher). Merton
  15. Sunray Pro Golds are my favorite for fit, function, and durability. A lot of people like Black Widows but for me the fit was not good and the volume control too coarse. For a digger for lawns I like a Lesche- no substitute for quality. Merton
  16. Now we are talking Turkey! I have never been brand loyal, I use whatever I think will work best in any given situation. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to remain dispassionate about Nokta/Makro. I find myself quietly cheering them on as they reach new levels of customer service. I will purchase Gold Racer if the reviews are good. Not because I really need a new machine. I already have a Deus and GB Pro. I will buy a Racer because I want to support this company. I want them to have plenty of developmental dollars to bring the promised Hybrid and PI models to market. Those are the detectors I want to wrap my hands around! Racer? Ho-Hum! Just another mid-freq VLF. Admittedly, it sounds like a good deal with great features for the price. Yet it is the Hybrid and/or a PI with better discrimination that could rock the world of coin, relic, and gold detecting and give us more depth with discrimination that we detectorists have been yearning for. If Nokta/Makro can develop then bring those machines to market they will be spending what once were my discretionary dollars. Merton
  17. OMG! I watched the video 20 minutes ago and my blood pressure is still dangerously high. LOL Wonderful, just wonderful. You guys are livin the dream. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.
  18. Paul, slow down and take some time to test different gain levels on faint in-situ targets. This may provide you with the answers you seek and make your detecting time more pleasurable.
  19. It will be interesting to see what KHz Gold Racer runs on and the difference in features between the two machines. I think Nokta may reap some tax refunds.
  20. Working in the manzanita ain't much fun but it does pay good on occasion. Congratulations.
  21. Junkman wrote "I'm Planning on detecting old mine sites and tailings in Virginia" Junkman, I hope you have a strong back and good knees if it is your plan to detect these types of sites with a PI only. Of course gold fever will get you through digging massive amounts of junk at first but after the romance wanes you may regret your earlier decision. Think VLF. Good luck in whatever you decide.
  22. Actually, the title of this thread could be mis-leading. I purchased my Deus with full phones last Spring for $1700. Now the price would be $1600. A $100 difference is only 6%. I don't know if I would read any earth shaking news into this. Most likely as Steve has postulated it is merely a currency adjustment.
  23. Wow! This company just keeps raising the bar on customer service excellence. I can envision myself owning multiple Nokta/Makro detectors as the new VLF, PI, and Hybrid units are rolled out.
  24. Hells bells Klunker! 50 inches! You were sleepin on top of a dang patch and didn't even know it until Chris and the Deus showed up
