  1. That will not be strong enough. Get a solid coil ear support and epoxy it on with the rest of it.
  2. Well I am kind of not kidding. Big return/interference in the middle of nowhere. What else could it be? Now I understand other metals can be involved with gold ore. But makes ya go hummmm.
  3. Maybe it is hitting on high concentration of gold ore. Time for the backhoe!!
  4. I have experience on Mexican ferrous coins. Yes they do not ring in discrimination. The only way to detect them is in horseshoe mode. I find the different varieties will not identify correctly with a minus [-] number. Meaning a certain coin will not just give one number if it is ferrous.
  5. For what it is worth. The Equinox is not sold as a dive machine. With all the failures is barely a wading machine.
  6. Hi Joe I notice a repaired coil in the picture. Do you notice any improvement in noise reduction with this coil? I have been doing some experimenting with the Equinox coil. Thanks Dave
  7. Someone just had a fast turnaround on a wet machine. Don't WAIT!! It is already compromised.
  8. WAIT, Think I heard music too! https://youtu.be/6D1nK7q2i8I
  9. Depends on what the purpose is and where your working? For a person working a beach, absolutely not. For land?? The big problem is the amount of inches to seal, correctly. Take the Equinox stock coil.....that would be a nightmare.
  10. I will say Chuck. You are tenacious like a wood tick. The MDT is a great separator of targets. 10X5 or 6" Coil VS the Stock 11X9 MDT Coil ==== Potato or Potatoe in my book. 😇
  11. Didn't realize I should have a job with stock options to buy some detectors. [That's NO JOKE ]
  12. I want to disagree. I recommend not only do you have TSA locks, and on ALL checked bags one cinch strap around it. Two straps is even better. It is not about creating the look of something inside. Rather stopping convivence. The true targets are bags with nothing slowing anyone down from getting inside. Also to note the airline reimbursement for any lost or stolen bag is between $3,300 per passenger and $1,742. Make sure you don't have a lopsided bag for personal cost. Even though I have never had to file a claim, the figures airlines are required to pay are quite generous and in most instances for me would be a money making venture. Dave
  13. A simple difference of opinion is not demeaning. Just trying to share my 30 years of airline travel with detectors for the readers.
  14. There is nothing to explain. TSA knows what a detector is. I have not garnished questions in years. Soon I will have a 12X15 coil in my carry-on.
  15. My electronics and coil go in my carry-on...PERIOD! For those who do not heed this warning. There is still plenty of hard cases on the market to stash stuff in your checked bag.
  16. What would be the outcome if you had tracking GB on and could run clean at sensitivity 24?
  17. To me all wireless headphones are not beach worthy equipment and can leave you without headphones. I think there are too many people rushing to not have a wire and missing the point of headphones. To have an advantage. If one is hunting a salt water beach, headphones to reduce ambient noise is that advantage. I have run Black Widow and Sunrays. Both do not have issues taking a splash now and then. Take a look at these if you want water proof. Tony Eisenhower Headphones.
  18. Well I hate to ruin things. But any headphones for beach hunting that do not block out ambient noise are worthless for me. I would suggest these, and their are others. https://bigboyshobbies.net/sun-ray-pro-gold-universal-headphones
  19. To make a long story short. In salt water there is no comparing the two systems. Tracking GB mode is the way to hunt. The Equinox can be very chatty on the beach out of this mode.
  20. Looks like the non-waterproof version. USPS is a train wreck. We know who to thank.
  21. Well what the heck was the conversation about soldering and blah. blah??? Even a electrical hack like me can change this battery!
  22. The battery cost is good. But where Minelab failed again is the part where the customer cannot change the battery. EDIT: Well I guess it's not that hard!
