  1. WOW, was really excited at the title and first post. Then after reading found out there is no new platform. Does this testing tell you how many hours you will be down for repairs with the AQ? Sheesh.
  2. I enjoyed working the MDT on the beach here. Almost bought one and would never discourage anyone from buying one. It does really work great! I passed because of the dual metal coinage here. There was too much wrap around signal on the 1-2 and 5 peso coin. If that was not the case I think the MDT would of became my primary machine! It stomps the Equinox on how well it functions in the wave wash.
  3. Yes, yikes. It is winter, and I would wait to see how the Deus2 shakes out. If light weight is a concern for you the D-2 checks that box. I am in Mexico working beaches until the end of April. I should have a D-2 in under two weeks. Right now I have everything to test it on EMI, Nasty Black sand, Rough Surf, and even normal beach. I will know if that detector will hold ANY SALT...........SOON! [pun intended]
  4. ME? I use a custom straight shaft that does not use the detector as a grip. My surf is real rough and I would rip all those screws out in a year [or less].
  5. Yes, I have this same scoop in the travel version. My point was to the OP and others there are two types of scoops to consider. If one thinks they are going to hunt where the surf and waves are tough. Then consider getting a scoop that has more basket than open face. Open face scoops get targets knocked out too easy by waves. HH
  6. NO, on the beach shovel. My recommendation comes down to open scoop or more of a bucket scoop. If you are detecting in a rough surf, I recommend a bucket style that keeps the target in the scoop. Example: RTG Pro Aluminum 6’ Water Scoop with Stainless Tip for Metal Detecting BB6TIP 9068004302 | eBay
  7. Humm, detecting no where near the waterline????
  8. Well just got notice I might have one in hand 15 days!!! Heck it might beat the extension my wife is bringing down! THEN we are going to see how this works on a salt beach!!!
  9. We all have our soil/beach and detector comparisons as it is our own reality. I remember when I first got here and panned the Equinox on how it works in moving Salt Water. [in fact I was cussing it today] While I did not get banned, there was some spirted discussion. I have learned to ease in a bit more...............😁
  10. Is this something, we in the consumer use of the product should speculate about?
  11. Yes they are great. I sent in a set of old phones and they converted them to new "universals" at a fraction of the cost of a new pair.
  12. There is some demand. But the price point will hold down sales. It will not take "years"
  13. What are you trying to use them on now? Do you have anything else to plug them into to test. Also, SunRay is still in business with new owners, and they can service your set of headphones.
  14. I hate going out on limbs. Too old and fat. Limb's break...............
  15. Well, that is the equation. Reasonable coverage or lots of digging. I can remember days where I did not walk down the beach even 100yds and after 4 hours was exhausted after working the Sovereign in pinpoint mode [Very PI like] I usually had a big bag of chit junk and coins and the occasional goodie. Now I do the whole 1.5 miles of beach daily in 4 hours. My good finds are up, and my body likes me more. Hummmm. Depth....not losing that much!
  16. All I hunt is beaches. I hunt in the Horseshoe mode 1 tone. I like hearing the full information of every target in one tone. Also, my goal is not to have my machine "sing" at me. Second goal, to identify targets as ferrous or nonferrous. ALL nonferrous targets come out, period.
  17. Well. I will be back on my machine soon. After a week back in, I will do just this. I will change the machine over manually to accept everything. It would be obvious to me really quick if there were operational differences. I will call it Jeff beach day!!! 😁 YES
  18. Interesting. I find in Horseshoe mode that the separation between Ferrous and Non-Ferrous becomes more pronounced. There is, without question an increase in depth ability. When you do this, do you need to be in two tones? Other than the obvious [hearing ferrous] Do you notice other performance factors?
  19. OK, define nothing rejected? Would you be running in Horseshoe mode? Or just typical ferrous bin rejected?
  20. So curious? If you were on a wet salt beach. What settings would you have had?
